20. Lake Travis (Austin, Tx.)
2025 Record:
28-12-3
Head Coach: Ryan Rogers

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Cooper Webb (Texas), RHP Landon Lang (Arizona State), OF Austin Glasgow (Utah Tech), RHP CJ Hansford (Wharton County Junior College), RHP Carter Buck, 1B Luke McBride, LHP Cruz Hale, C Molina Yanuell (University of Texas at Arlington), RHP Will Fanning, RHP Westin McDaniel, MIF Adrian Bellanger, OF Brady Skutta, RHP Daniel Womack

Lake Travis is coming off a 2025 season that saw them finish as state semifinalists and they return a ton of production, giving them plenty of reasons to think they’ll be able to take home the state title in 2026. Everything starts on the mound for this team as they have a dynamic one-two punch at the top, headlined by Texas commit Cooper Webb and Arizona State commit Landon Lang. Webb is widely regarded as one of the top arms in the state and a potential draft pick and brings dynamic stuff. On the offensive side of things, they return outfielder and Utah Tech commit Austin Glasgow and catcher Yanuell Molina, a UT-Arlington commit. Both are coming off excellent springs a year ago and look primed to lead the offense. With this staff, the experience on the offensive side, and a tradition of winning, it’s easy to see why they’re ranked so highly to kick off the 2026 season.

19. Huntington Beach (Huntington Beach, Calif.)
2025 Record:
24-5
Head Coach: Benji Medure

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Cayden Hammond (BYU), 3B Dane Cunningham (Cal Poly), RHP Steel Kurtz, SS Jason Dunham (Long Beach State), OF Owen Bone (California Baptist), RHP Nate Sammartano, C Easton Shortle, RHP Jared Marchbank (New Mexico State), LHP Jared Grindlinger, OF Tanner Brown (TCU), SS Parker Leoff (UCLA), SS Mason Elyjah (Oklahoma State), RHP Ryder Cielen, LHP Christian Haupt (Cal State Fullerton), RHP Evan Moorhead

Huntington Beach is coming off a year that saw them have extremely high expectations and back them up with a 24-5 record. This included a 16-2 record in league play but they had a quick exit in the CIF Southern Section and will look to make an even deeper run in 2026. They have a quality group of seniors set to lead the way with BYU commit Cayden Hammond, Cal Poly commit Dane Cunningham, Long Beach State commit Jason Dunham, and Cal Baptist commit Owen Bone. The junior group has a chance to be special with Jared Grindlinger headlining the group as a top-5 player in the country. Tanner Bwon, Parker Leoff and Elyjah Mason are all ranked inside the top-500 and give them depth throughout the lineup and on the mound. It’s once again a talented group from top-to-bottom and it has a chance to be an even more special season in Huntington Beach this year.

18. Basic (Henderson, Nev.)
2025 Record:
25-7
Head Coach: Gino DiMaria

Notable Prospect(s): SS Troy Southisene (Oregon State), SS Matthew Kelley (Texas A&M), 2B Lyndon Lee (Arizona State), OF Andruw Giles (Oregon), RHP Lincoln Evans, LHP Johnny Villarreal (St. Mary’s), MIF Zach Sorenson, OF Ace Sapp (Notre Dame), OF Dallon Cegavske, 2B Mikey Ornellas, SS Dillon Lee, RHP Derek Wenzel, OF Bryson Lee

Basic is no stranger to the top-50 and have been a national powerhouse over the last few years. 2026 looks like another great year with one of the more daunted offensive units in the country. Leading the way is a dynamic pair of middle infielders in Troy Southisene and Matthew Kelley, both ranked well inside the top-125 in the country. Lyndon Lee, an Arizona commit, was a standout on the summer circuit and gives them another quality senior bat as well as Oregon commit Andruw Giles who’s been an impact bat for Basic the last few years. On the mound they have a good one-two with seniors Lincoln Evans and Johnny Villarreal along with a young right-hander in Derek Wenzel pushing for innings as well. This offense has a chance to be special and they have a great shot to make it back-to-back state titles in 2026.

17. Corona (Corona, Calif.)
2025 Record:
28-3
Head Coach: Andy Wise

Notable Prospect(s): OF Anthony Murphy (LSU), SS Trey Ebel (Texas A&M), OF Andrew Lulet, OF Adrian Ruiz, C Jesiah Andrade, LHP Mason Sims (Texas), SS Joseph Flores Jr. (Ole Miss), 3B Danny De La Torre (Arizona State), SS Aaron Springston, 3B Matthew Herrera, OF logan Pascarella, OF Chris Woodson, SS Romeo De La Torre

Everybody remembers the roster from a year ago with Corona as they had three first rounders in Seth Hernandez, Billy Carlson, and Brady Ebel. All three are now gone but don’t let that fool you, this team is loaded from top to bottom again and has a chance to put together another great year in 2026. Leading the way on the offensive side will be seniors Anthony Murphy and Trey Ebel, both PG All-Americans and have a chance to be drafted high in 2026. The list of seniors doesn’t stop there as they also have Andrew Lulet, Adrian Ruiz and Jesiah Andrade also returning, giving them plenty of experience on the offensive side. The junior class is loaded as well with left-hander Mason Sims, shortstop Joseph Flores Jr., and corner infielder Danny De La Torre. There may not be as much hype around this team in 2026 but it’s another great group for Andy Wise and they’ll look to put together another phenomenal spring.

16. Magnolia Heights (Senatobia, Miss.)
2025 Record:
39-5
Head Coach: Chris McMinn

Notable Prospect(s):
SS Cole Prosek (Ole Miss), SS Christian Doty (Ole Miss), SS Devin Miller (Liberty), C Quincy Pratt (Ole Miss), SS Brennan Overstreet, RHP Bradley Carroll

The Magnolia Heights program is in the midst of one of the more historic runs in high school baseball as they look to rattle off their eighth straight state championship in 2026. It was a dominant run in 2025, something that has become commonplace in Senatobia. The 2026 group is headlined by a pair of Ole Miss commits in PG All-American Cole Prosek and top-100 talent in the country in Christian Doty. They also bring back Liberty commit Devin Miller as well as three of the top juniors in the state in Quincy Pratt, Brannan Overstreet, and Bradley Carroll. There’s depth all around with this team, especially on the offensive side with a list that’s littered with the top players in the state. Head coach Chris McMinn has built a well-oiled machine in Mississippi and they’ll look to keep that train rolling in 2026 with another great year and another state championship.

15. Casteel (Queen Creek, Ariz.)
2025 Record:
23-10
Head Coach: Matt Denny

Notable Prospect(s): OF Ryan Harwood (Texas A&M), 3B Ryne Barker (Texas Tech), 3B Jose Bingochea (South Mountain CC), OF Maxx Kane, OF Connor Russell, OF Keegan Goddard, SS Baylor Denny (Oklahoma), C Lincoln Demmons (Utah), 1B Cooper Dribbons, SS Jace Diaz (Army), OF Taylor Dodd, LHP Nolan Leitner, LHP Merrick Phelps, OF Andrés Armenta, 3B Ryan McGuire, OF Macgraw VanWormer, OF Evan Thompson, RHP Ruseell Nelson

Casteel put together a great season a year ago and bring back a large chunk of their production from a state semifinal team in 2025. This offense is deep and talented, littered with upperclass talent. Leading the charge is PG All-American and Texas A&M commit Ryan Harwood who provides one of the best power bats in all of high school baseball. Corner infielder Ryne Barker is another senior name to know on this roster along with Maxx Kane, Jose Bingochea, and Connor Russell. You move on to the junior class and there’s little drop off with Baylor Denny and Lincoln Demmons headlining that crop. Sophomore Andrés Armenta is one of the best players in the 2028 class and you mix that with a ridiculous incoming freshman core in #1 player Macgraw VanWormer, top-5 player Evan Thompson, and one of the best right-handers in the 2029 class in Russell Nelson. It’s one of the deepest rosters on paper in the country so it makes sense why they come into the year with a top-15 ranking.

14. Memorial (Houston, Tx.)
2025 Record:
28-6-1
Head Coach: Jeremy York

Notable Prospect(s): LHP Matthew Manis (Texas), RHP Cash Scarborough (Oklahoma State), OF Tanner Drda (Sam Houston State), Jake Earnest (Air Force), SS Nicholas Grissom (Harding), OF Halen Heinz (Angelina College), MIF Boone McLaughlin (Millsaps College), RHP Grant Sperandio (Texas), LHP Benjamin Fuqua, RHP Wyatt Baskin, C Dillon Norris, OF Jackson Van Wie

Memorial put together a great season a year ago, finishing with a 28-6-1 record, and bring back a strong core to try to bring a state championship to campus. It’s a pretty ridiculous three arms at the top of the rotation with a pair of Texas commits in senior left-hander Matthew Manis and junior right-hander Grant Sperandio, both bringing power arsenals to the table. You round that out with another power-four commit in Cash Scarborough who also brings a mid-90s fastball to the table and you have one of the best rotations in the nation. All of that while you can also roll out a veteran offense with a knack for putting together quality at-bats, headlined by senior outfielders Tanner Drda and Jake Earnest. There’s a ton of buzz and rightfully so around the Memorial program and with the amount of talent and depth on this team, they should put together another remarkable year in 2026 with a serious chance to win a state title.

13. Venice (Venice, Fla.)
2025 Record:
29-5
Head Coach: Craig Faulkner

Notable Prospect(s): LHP Carter Cox (Florida Atlantic), C Randall Riley III, RHP Kane Judson, RHP Jake Hartter, SS Maddox Volk, SS Graham Houston (LSU), OF RJ Shields (Mississippi State), RHP Kasen Poplin (Liberty), OF Keagan O’Brien, RHP August Backman, OF Chase Caldwell, C Jonathan Mauro, OF Zachary Allaire, SS Kohen Poplin, RHP Macade Carey

Venice has had back-to-back excellent years, winning 25 or more games in both, and also had one of the biggest victories in the country a year ago winning NHSI. They bring back one of the best rosters in the country and will look to win their first state championship since 2018. They have as good of a group of juniors as you’ll find with two top-100 players in the country in LSU commit Graham Houston and Mississippi State commit RJ Shields. Rounding out that loaded junior group is right-hander and Liberty commit Kasen Poplin. Senior left-hander Carter Cox, a Florida Atlantic commit, along with Polin gives them a great duo on the mound. With the history of winning at Venice along with the serious amount of talent from top-to-bottom on this roster, it’s easy to see why they’re so highly regarded entering 2026. This team will look to do something that hasn’t been done in nine years and have as good of a chance as any of bringing a state title back to campus.

12. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
2025 Record:
29-4
Head Coach: David Jeans

Notable Prospect(s): SS Tyler Spangler (Stanford), RHP Brandon Kleyman, RHP Landon Cook, RHP Graham Schlicht (Stanford), 1B Roman Bartosh, OF Sam Lakey, OF Camden Fisackerly, SS Jacob Gray, OF Landon Miller, SS Brandon Manivong

De La Salle has long been a powerhouse on the national scale as well as being one of the premier programs in Northern California. Leading the group will be a potential first round pick and a top-10 player in the nation in Stanford commit Tyler Spangler. They have quality depth on the offensive side with a trio of other seniors in Roman Bartosh, Sam Lakey, and Camden Fisackerly. You round that out on the mound with a trio of senior arms as well in Brandon Kleyman, Landon Cook, and Graham Schlicht. They have some impactful young names on this roster too with top-50 talent in the 2028 class in Jacob Gray. Brandon Manivong is a freshman name to know on this roster as well. De La Salle will look to make it back-to-back state championships in 2026 and have the talent to do so in dominant fashion.

11. Trinity (Louisville, Ky.)
2025 Record:
38-3
Head Coach: Rick Arnold

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Grayson Willoughby (Kentucky), 1B Nolan Hosking (Louisville), OF Zach Floyd (Louisville), RHP Konnor Stargell, RHP Gray Davis (Clemson), OF Max Phillips (Wake Forest), LHP Hudson Meredith (Virginia), SS Carson Hailey, 3B Will McKnight, OF Drake Graeter

Trinity enters the 2026 season with a significant amount of buzz around the program and it’s easy to see why with the amount of pure talent on the roster. The senior group is led by one of the top right-handed pitchers in the 2026 class in Grayson Willoughby. They also have a pair of Louisville commits on the offensive side of things in Zach Floyd and Nolan Hosking. They’ll be able to roll out a pair of top arms in the state in 2027 with Clemson commit Gray Davis and Virginia commit Hudson Meredith. Some more impactful names in the junior class is Max Phillips and Jaxson Jett. They rolled through their schedule in 2025 and finished it off with 22 straight wins to end their season, culminating in a state title. There’s a good chance that they do so once again in 2026 with the insane amount of talent returning to this roster.

DII/DIII/NAIA Rankings Update: March 18

Nick Herfordt

In every major sport, the championship is decided in the postseason. You can lose games all year, get hot at the right time, and walk away with the hardware. The regular season is a rehearsal. The playoffs are the show.  The championship belt changes that. Borrowed from professional wrestling, boxing and ultimate fighting, the belt travels the moment the holder loses — no brackets, no seeding, no second chances. A random Tuesday non-conference game in Milledgeville, Georgia  becomes a title fight. A spring trip to Florida becomes a gauntlet. The defending national champion can lose the belt before February is over.  We’re tracking three belts this season — NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NCAA Division III — each starting with the defending national champion. The results have been exactly as chaotic as you’d expect.  Worth noting along the...

High School Top 50 Update: March 17

Tyler Russo
Article Image
We have another update to the National Top-50 after two weeks of even more games being played in the southern states along with seasons just starting to kick off across the country. We’re quickly approaching another stellar high school event, the NHSI in Cary, and with that will come even more movement in these rankings. St. John Bosco (CA) continues to hold firm at the No. 1 position after a 4-0 start to their season. Venice (FL) has been rolling throughout the early portion of the year and jumps up to No. 2 in the country. One of the biggest movers in this update is The Bennett School (TX) jumping from unranked to No. 8 in the country after beating a handful of top ranked programs to start the year. Some other big movers inside the top-10 are Barbe (LA), who jumps from No. 18 to No. 5 in this update as well as Aledo (TX) who jumps from No. 20 to No. 9. The rest of the top-10...

College Players of the Week: March 17

Article Image
March 17th Perfect Game/Player of the Week: Vahn Lackey, C, Georgia Tech The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (17-3) came into the season with the highest external expectations in decades based on the anticipation of their offensive potential. To this point they have not only met those lofty expectations, but twenty games in they may have exceeded them. While there are plenty of high-level prospects up and down the lineup, with all that star power Vahn Lackey has stood out. Sure to be one of the first catchers selected in this year’s MLB Draft with his comprehensive skillset, he projects well as an everyday backstop at the next level. However, his overall athleticism stands out as we saw this week when he had a game where he played every defensive position on the field except pitcher. At the plate over four games including a series victory at Clemson last week, he went 9 for 15, scoring...

PG Draft: Under the Radar Preps

PG Draft: Under the Radar Preps As the spring season gets underway, the showcase circuit and early high-level tournaments have already provided our scouts with some intriguing first looks at this year’s crop of prospects. At the same time, we’ve been tracking the buzz among team evaluators, listening closely to the names that keep coming up in conversations and the players clubs are making sure they get eyes on this spring. Every year, a handful of prospects quietly slip beneath the radar during the fall and winter months, only to reemerge once the games start counting again. Sometimes it’s the result of a productive offseason in the weight room, a noticeable jump in velocity, or a step forward in skill development. Other times, it’s simply a player finally getting the opportunity and the stage to show what’s been building behind the scenes. The spring has a...
