High School Top 50: 40-31

High School Preview Index
Top 50 Breakdown: 50-41

40. Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Tx.)
2025 Record:
25-5
Head Coach: James Vilade

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Savion Sims (Oklahoma), RHP Trent Vilade (Texas A&M), OF Austin Smith, C Cruz Banuelas, RHP Harrison Hilliard, OF Lash Henderson (Texas A&M), SS Max Bachmann, SS Frantz Guignard, 3B Aiden Moffitt, C Chance Kidd

Prestonwood Christian is coming off a successful season a year ago that saw them rattle off 25 wins, but they come up just short of a state title, losing 2-0 in the championship game. They lose a pair of senior power arms but also bring back one of the top right-handers in the state in Trent Vilade as well as adding one of the top flamethrowers in the nation in Savion Sims. Junior outfielder Lash Henderson, a Texas A&M commit and a top-25 talent in the class, headlines the group of position players along with senior outfielder Austin Smith and junior middle infielder Max Bachmann. This one-two at the top of the rotation is one of the best in the state with premium stuff, mix that with the offensive talent that they bring back and it could make for a special year in Plano.

39. Norco (Norco, Calif.)
2025 Record:
22-9
Head Coach: Gary Parcell

Notable Prospect(s): LHP Landon Hovermale (Grand Canyon), RHP Riley Moran, RHP Vincent Rodriguez, RHP Blake McHugh, 1B Cade Murrill, RHP Conner Saenz, SS Dylan Seward (Tennessee), SS Zion Martinez (Oklahoma State), C Codey Brown (UC Santa Barbara), C Jayden Serna (UC Santa Barbara), OF Liam Heasley, RHP Jordan Ayala, OF Aiden Cervantes

Norco came into 2025 with higher expectations and strung together their best season in a few years, finishing with a 22-9 record. The winning ways shouldn’t slow down any time soon as they have some of the best junior talent in the nation, mixed with veteran seniors and impact underclass names. Grand Canyon commit Landon Hovermale looks primed to lead the rotation along with sophomore right-hander Jordan Ayala who bring some of the more dynamic stuff in the 2028 class. They have one of the best middle infields in the country in juniors Dylan Seward and Zion Martinez, both bringing top of the shelf talent to the mix. Speaking of the junior class, they also have a pair of UC Santa Barbara commits behind the plate in Jayden Serna and Codey Brown. There’s plenty of reasons to be excited about this Norco team and it wouldn’t shock us if they put together a better season than a year ago.

38. St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, Kan.)
2025 Record:
27-4
Head Coach: Rick Sabath

Notable Prospect(s): SS Brady Stewart (South Carolina), OF Lincoln Boyle (Arkansas), C James Forgy (Cowley County CC), 1B Nic Sabers (Kirkwood CC), SS Henry Goodwin (Kansas City Kansas CC), 3B Will Ray (Cowley County CC), 1B Jackson McDonald

St. Thomas Aquinas has been one of the top programs in the nation for the past few years and have culminated the last two seasons with a pair of state titles. They’re looking to make it three in a row this year and this group looks primed to do just that. Leading the group is a pair of SEC commits in Brady Stewart and Lincoln Boyle, both put together good springs a year ago and have plenty of experience of going through the gauntlet. They’ll round out the offense with four JUCO commits in James Forgy, Nic Sabers, Henry Goodwin and Will Ray, all three with ample experience as well. Look out for rising sophomore Jackson McDonald as well, he’s one of the top players in the state for the 2028 class and should push for playing time this spring. This group is talented with veterans all over the roster and look ready to make it three in a row this year.

37. Aquinas (San Bernardino, Calif.)
2025 Record:
25-3
Head Coach: Mark Carpentier

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Christephor Alzaga (Long Beach State), 3B Jake Bitonti (Grand Canyon), RHP Hayden Vanderhoof (Long Beach State), SS Jonny Tena (UCSD), RHP Jayden Perez, SS Carter Hadnot, SS Damian Cordero (California Baptist), OF Dorian Valencia III, C Cole McGregor, OF Enrique Max Lopez, RHP Benjamin Mazariegos, SS Orlando Oates

The 2025 season was one that saw Aquinas win 25 games, a number that’s become commonplace around San Bernardino in the last few years. Along with their 25-3 overall record, they also dominated league play with a 12-0 record and bring back some impact names from a year ago. They have a pair of Long Beach State commits leading the way on the mound in Christephor Alzaga and Hayden Vanderhoof as well as fellow senior right-hander Jayden Perez. On the offensive side of things they have a quality core of upperclassmen in Grand Canyon commit Jake Bitoni and UCSD commit Jonny Tena. Shortstop Carter Hadnot is one of the top talents in the entire nation for the 2027 class and will have his fingerprints all over this offense, as well as sophomore Orlando Oates. This was a group that found themselves inside the top-50 for a large portion of the year in 2025 and look primed for another great season in 2026.

36. Nolensville (Nolensville, Tenn.)
2025 Record:
20-14
Head Coach: Zach Hudson

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Wyatt Clatur (Virginia), 1B Kael Barney (Oregon State), C Evan McElvain (Duke), RHP Aiden Oppenheimer, SS Kyson Barney (Oregon State), C Griffin Hendrickson (Northwest Mississippi CC), RHP Hayden Hupka (Volunteer State CC), Caleb Gilbert (Maryville College), OF Ryan Newell, RHP Parker Vandercook, LHP Hutch Weaver, 2B Tristen Lithmexay

Nolensville was a team that caught our eye in the preseason a year ago with all the junior talent on the roster. Well, all those players are now seniors and give them one of the best rosters in the southeast. Vanderbilt signee and PG All-American Bo Holloway is one of the best left-handers in the nation and is primed for a monster spring. Virginia commit Wyatt Clatur also brings power stuff to the table and gives them a ridiculous top of the rotation. Rounding out the staff is Aiden Oppenheimer, Hayden Hupka and Caleb Gilbert. The talent doesn’t stop there as on the offensive side they’ll be led brothers Kael and Kyson Barney, both committed to Oregon State. Evan McElvain is one of the top power bats in the state as well and will provide leadership behind the plate too. Everything is shaping up for this to be a big year for Nolensville and they’re hoping to bring home the programs first state title in 2026.

35. Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio)
2025 Record:
25-4-1
Head Coach: Tim Held

Notable Prospect(s): SS Matt Ponatoski (Kentucky), 3B Conner Cuozzo (Kent State), RHP Jake Gaerke, 1B Teagan Cumberland, 2B Kayde Ridley, OF Ronnie Allen, RHP Nathan McDowell (Notre Dame), RHP Carson Fuhrer, C Ricky Maschinot, C Donovan Glosser, SS Reggie Watson III (Louisville), RHP Cooper Griffith, SS Connor Maupin, RHP Ryan Szitanko, MIF Zac Wittenauer, C Colton Smith

Year in and year out, Archbishop Moeller has one of the best rosters on paper across the nation and 2026 is no different. Leading the way will be PG All-American and one of the more dynamic two-way talents in the nation in Matt Ponatoski. Kent State commit Conner Cuozzo will be another name to know in the heart of the order. It’s a veteran team overall but especially on the pitching side as junior right-handers Nathan McDowell and Carson Fuhrer as well as senior Jake Gaerke will be the names to know on the pitching side. Look out for freshman Colton Smith, he’s one of the better catchers in the 2029 class and will almost certainly push for playing time immediately. Moeller is no stranger to preseason hype; this group will look to etch their names into the record books and bring home the 10th state title back to Cincinnati.

34. Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.)
2025 Record:
26-11
Head Coach: David Reynolds

Notable Prospect(s): OF Malachi Washington (LSU), SS Santos Wade (USF), OF Ellis Appling (Wabash Valley College), SS Emani Ford (Kennesaw State), OF Chase Vigilance, 1B CJ Woolcock, RHP Grant Benefield, SS Joseph Mendez, OF Miles Norman, RHP Andres Jimenez, LHP Daelan Jones-Teasley

This is another program that is no stranger to preseason expectations and bring back one of the best rosters in Georgia, along with plenty of experience of winning at a high level. PG All-American and LSU commit Malachi Washington was the Underclass Player of the Year a season ago and will look to back that up with yet another dominant spring this year. USF commit Santos Wade was a name that flew up the rankings a year ago and gives them quite the duo up the middle with him and Kennesaw State commit Emani Ford. Ellis Appling also returns after putting together a quality spring a year ago. The three arms to note on the pitching side are senior Grant Benefield, junior Andres Jimenez, and sophomore Daelan Jones-Teasley. It’s a veteran team loaded with upperclass talent that should give them a great chance of once again challenging for another state championship.

33. Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, N.C.)
2025 Record:
22-6-1
Head Coach: Eddie Hull

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Alex Hoffman (Virginia Tech), RHP Quinn Orourke (Arizona), C Brady Marconi (College of Charleston), SS Cooper Gornet (North Carolina State), RHP Ben Bordeaux (Queens University of Charlotte), RHP Dylan Kelleher (Cleveland Community College), LHP Griffin McKain (Clemson), 3B Luke Danser (Dayton), OF John Hucko (Clemson)

Charlotte Catholic have quickly become one of the more noticeable rosters in the Coastal region over the last few years and come into the 2026 season with significant expectations. When you look up and down this roster, it’s loaded with top end talent and gives them a real chance at pushing for the first state title in program history. At the top of the rotation is a pair of power-four commits in Alex Hoffman and Quinn ORourke. Brady Marconi was a standout in Jupiter and brings some thump in the heart of their order. Cooper Gornet, a NC State commit, will be stationed up the middle and they round out the roster with a trio of underclass names to know in Griffin McKain, John Hucko and Luke Dansler. The roster from top-to-bottom is one of the best in the country so it’s easy to see why they’re the favorite to take home a state championship in 2026.

32. Pleasant Grove (Texarkana, Tx.)
2025 Record:
36-6
Head Coach: Riley Fincher

Notable Prospect(s): SS Spencer Browning (Arkansas), 3B Christian May (Crowder College), C Buck William Anderson, LHP Hunter Rose (Arkansas)

Pleasant Grove once again enters the season as one of the top teams in Texas, something that has become commonplace. This is a roster that returns 7 starters from a season ago, a team that saw them lose in the state championship game so there’s plenty of reasons to think that they’ll be the one taking home the title this year. Headlining the group is a pair of Arkansas commits in Spencer Browning, a top-100 talent in the nation, and Hunter Rose, a left-hander that’s been into the low-90s on the travel ball circuit. These two are not only powers arms but will also provide two of the premier bats in this lineup. Rounding out the group is another pair of seniors in Christian May and Buck William Anderson. They’re coming off a great spring a year ago and have their eyes set on their third state title in program history.

31. Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.)
2025 Record:
22-8
Head Coach: Greg Elie

Notable Prospect(s): 3B Brooks Berry (Alabama), LHP Wells Grisham (Pittsburgh), LHP Henry Allen (Kennesaw State), RHP Foy Hamaker (Cleveland State CC), C Parker Milz, SS Mac Morris (Alabama), C Blake Lundy (Tennessee), 3B Sam Godbout, LHP Miller Brock, LHP Levi Fraley, SS Emerson Morris, RHP Brennan Mustard

Baylor is one of the best sports programs in the entire country, consistently finding themselves in these types of rankings and the baseball program is no stranger to expectations and is one of the more storied programs in Tennessee. They have a dynamic pair of juniors in catcher Blake Lundy and shortstop Mac Morris, both ranked inside the top-40 in the country. Senior Brooks Berry is one of the top names in the 2026 class in Tennessee and they also bring back a trio of arms in Wells Grisham, Henry Allen, and Foy Hamaker to bolster their rotation. Sophomore middle infielder Emerson Morris is another name on this roster that should push for playing time as he’s one of the top players in the 2028 class. There’s plenty of buzz around the program heading into 2026 and they’ll look to bring home their first state title since 2021.

Coming off a state-championship run in basketball, Texas signee Brody Bumila made his first start of the spring on April 2nd and didn't disappoint in front of at least 40 scouts packed tightly together behind the backstop.  Knowing it was going to be a quicker look given...

In a season where remaining in the Top 25 has become a war of attrition, the No. 1 UCLA Bruins (33-2) are making the game look much easier than it is in all reality.  Winners of 27-games in a row, this club continues to win games by any means necessary as they continue their historic run.  Beyond the incredible win streak, the Bruins have started off Big Ten play (18-0) by sweeping their first six conference weekend.  Adding to their resume, in Game 1 of their series at Rutgers, they won a 14-inning thriller by a score of 4-1where their pitching staff registered an eye-popping 30-strikeouts while only surrendering 1 walk and 4 hits throughout.  In most any other season, the No. 2 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (30-5) would be sitting atop the poll as they are putting together a historic season of their own.  They swept Florida State (24-11) who was previously ranked...

PG Draft: Favorite Position Group

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
Every draft class has its strengths. Some years its a loaded group of prep infielders, some years its a deep collection of college arms. In this year’s class, certain position groups stand out above the rest to us. This week, the draft team dives into their favorite position groups. Groups that we believe are loaded with depth, upside, and big league potential. College Infielders It’s hard not to get excited about the crop of college infielders in this year’s class because of who is at the top. Roch Cholowsky alone makes the group exciting. He’s got gold glove potential at the next level and an offensive profile that should make him one of the Top 15 to 20 prospects in all of baseball the second he gets drafted. Justin Lebron is another player with as much upside in the class. He is a premium athlete that can really pick it at short and has big upside with the...

Wolforth Throwing Mentorship: Article 64

Ron Wolforth
Article Image
What Do Barry Zito, Justin Verlander, Trevor Bauer, and Dallas Keuchel All Have in Common? By Ron Wolforth | Texas Baseball Ranch® | PG Arm Care Take a second and think about the question posed in the title before you read on. Four Cy Young Award winners. Four of the most decorated pitchers of their generation. What's the common thread? The first answer is obvious… they all won the most prestigious individual award in pitching. Most of you probably got there immediately. The second answer is less obvious… they all trained at the Texas Baseball Ranch® at some point in their development. Interesting, maybe, but not the point of this article. The third answer is the one I really want you to sit with, because it has direct relevance to your career right now: they all move completely differently. And they all attack hitters completely differently. Don't rush past that....

DII/DIII/NAIA Rankings Update: April 8

Nick Herfordt
Article Image
We are past the midpoint of the college baseball season and the stakes are rising by the week. Conference races are tightening, schedules are getting harder, and the résumés that will matter in the selection room are being written right now — one series at a time. This week's most significant development came in Division II, where North Greenville swept Young Harris in three consecutive one-run games to claim the top spot for the first time this season, knocking Tampa from a perch they've held most of the year. It's a genuine changing of the guard at the top, and it's exactly the kind of shakeup that makes this stretch of the season worth paying close attention to. Across all three divisions the picture is coming into focus. In Division I NAIA, Georgia Gwinnett remains the standard while Taylor and Cumberlands continue to make their cases from behind. In Division III,...
