August Backman is a 2027 RHP/OF with a 5-6 128 lb. frame from Waterbury, VT who attends Harwood Uhsd #19. Young, lean frame with square shoulders and a high waist with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.21 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, effiecient arm action through the backside with makings of sound arm speed, clean arm path and worked in attack mode early in the outing. Fastball topped out at 72 mph and showed some riding life when up in the zone and flashes of sink when down; showed comfort in mixing a curveball up to 58 mph around the zone. Left-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; waggle to hands at start of swing and shows a full path through the zone and finish through the point of contact. Utilizes a leg lift trigger, shows some looseness, hands get deep at load, worked on time to the ball.
