RJ Shields is a 2027 OF/RHP with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Venice, FL who attends Venice. Strong and athletic build. 7.15 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, has big arm strength in the outfield with low and online throws, can quicken his game actions and release, right field prototype tools. Left handed hitter, sets up with an open front side with a hanging leg raise load and short stride into contact, gets the barrel out front and creates big bat speed and impact, looking to pull and lift the ball, squared up hard in the games including a pull side bomb. Also pitched, works from a side step delivery with a high front side and good line to the plate, high 3/4's arm slot, works under control. Fastball topped out at 87 mph, tended to guide his curveball with some shape at times. Power bat/Power arm combination. Very good student.
