Evan Thompson is a 2029 OF/RHP/C with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Casteel. Large, athletic frame with lean build and room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, approaches ball cleanly and generates big momentum through release, well coordinated in actions, shows whip and quickness to the arm with one hop accuracy to the intended base, repeats well, athleticism plays in actions. Higher crouch behind the plate during drills, gains ground with lower half and shows accuracy down to second base, some present arm strength with actions that'll continue to refine. Also pitched, abbreviated windup with a loose three-quarters release and present arm speed; worked around the zone, heavy sinking life to fastball up to 80 mph and maintained well, landed the breaker for strikes as well. Left-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and a tighter hand set with a high back elbow; utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing in the box. Loose hands in swing and gets the barrel extended out front, leverage to path and connected for a deep triple in live action off the right field wall. Comfort working to the middle and pull parts of the field, occasionally gets to front side early but shows a handle for the barrel. Named to the 2024 13u Select Festival.
