CLEARWATER, FLORIDA- Perfect Game Softball made its official debut in the state of Florida this past weekend at Eddie C. Moore sports complex. The weather was perfect, and the atmosphere was right for some great softball. We had many college coaches of all levels attend and our National Scouting Director was on hand to evaluate and highlight the athletes. We are excited for future events and the ability to promote and highlight the great athletes in the southeast! Below we highlight the 18U division where multiple athletes stood out.
18UDivision
Oakley Riley (2027, SS/UTL, Dade City, FL) of the Lady Bombers- Bowling was a standout player all weekend. She is an athletic and versatile athlete who is a great combination of speed and power. Offensively, this right-handed hitter has an up-the-middle to oppo swing, staying behind the ball well. She starts in a wide stance and shows incredibly quick hands. She makes consistent contact and finished her weekend batting near the .500 mark. She stole multiple bases and drove in a handful of runs for her team. We saw her play shortstop and she showed good range and solid softball IQ. She gets rid of the ball quickly with efficient transfers. We really notice her athleticism in all parts of her game and with continued development and refinement, she will be an impact player at the next level.
Brianna Bailey (2028, 3B, Lakeland, FL) of the Florida Classics proved to be a formidable offensive threat on the weekend. This right-handed hitter has an athletic and balanced stance. She starts with loose hands and generates a good amount of barrel whip through her swing. She showed power potential and did a great job keeping her barrel behind the ball, driving the ball gap to gap with authority. She has some solid potential if she continues on her development path.
Aubrey Reed (2027, OF, Tampa, FL) of the Lady Bombers- Bowling was impressive throughout the tournament. She is a right-handed hitter who has a sound stance and swing mechanically. She is balanced, utilizes a solid back side fire, and fires against a firm front side. She was consistent at the plate and drove in multiple runs for her squad.
Scarlet Carnahan (2029, C/UTL, Lake Placid, FL) of the Florida Gold Morales/Price was a standout versatile athlete during the tournament. This right-handed hitter uses all her tools to be an offensive threat. She has good speed on the basepaths, and she does a great job of using her speed to her advantage. She can and will sneaky bunt, she also has solid barrel control and pop. She has an athletic stance and her hand path to the ball is efficient. She stays behind the pitch well, driving the ball gap to gap. One other thing our scout noticed was her ability to make adjustments during her at bats. Behind the plate, she showed solid glove work and the ability to stick the lower pitches. She stays low when receiving and uses her quickness to effectively attack bunts.
Addisyn Midyett (2027, OF, Trinity, FL) of the Florida Storm Melendez is an outstanding outfielder who is a difference maker both on defense and offense. This left-handed hitter, hitting in the two spot has an athletic stance, starting slightly open, and generates great barrel whip. She has pop off the barrel and does a great job keeping her barrel behind the ball rather than wrapping around it. She drives the ball opposite field and up the middle with authority. Her front side resistance is also something to note, which also gives her the ability to drive off speed pitches as well. One of her standout qualities was her plate discipline and in-game adjustments. She is a base stealing threat and creates chaos on the bases. All in all, she is an athletic and versatile player who is a lot of fun to watch and has a good upside.
Mayzie Carpenter (2028, C/UT, High Springs, FL) of the Newberry Nitro was impressive on both sides of the ball all weekend. During the tournament she proved to be a consistent force on offense. She utilizes a violent back side to create some solid barrel whip and pop. She has quick hands and the ability to turn on the inside pitch and even showed great contact point awareness on an outside pitch as well. She hit a deep shot to the left field fence. Defensively, she showed solid transfers and throws behind the plate with good leadership and solid glovework. She is also versatile enough to play middle infield and shows strong softball IQ. Keep your eye on this athlete as she has a solid upside and with continued refinement and development, will be fully capable of playing at the next level.
Paizlee Carnahan (2028, OF, Lake Placid, FL) of the Florida Gold Morales/Price was an impact player all weekend for her squad. Defensively, this outfielder covers ground well, showed great footwork, and quick reads. Offensively, this right-handed hitter has good barrel pop, quick hands, and the ability to turn on the inside pitch well. She did a great job keeping her hands above the ball and proved she can come through in clutch situations when the pressure is on. We saw her drive an up and out pitch hard up the middle for RBI’s and she showed good plate discipline and pitch selection. Keep your eye on this athlete as she has a high ceiling.
