Russell Nelson is a 2029 RHP/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Casteel. Good frame with a lean current build, wiry strength and nice twitch to his overall actions. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.95 seconds. Primary position RHP, using a leg lift to the belt, landing inline and showing a repeatable overall delivery. Longer arm action a touch offline before accelerating through a high 3/4 arm angle. Showed big life and heavy run on the heater that peaked at 90 mph and cruised in the upper-80s. Running fastballs through hitters, setting the stage for a tight slider in the upper-70s with 2,300+ rpms. Also flashed a low-80s cutter that misses barrel and has a quality changeup as well. Full assortment of pitches that all profile to be advanced pitches as he moves up the line. Loud repertoire with an understanding on how to use it. Reps in the OF, with good first step, attacking the ball and getting to the throw with clean transfer. Can do it here as well and ripped throws back to the infield at 93 mph, nice. RHH working from a wider base, high handset and high beck elbow to get ready pre-pitch. Strength and explosiveness plays here as well, generating serious barrel speed. Gets a bit downhill on swing plane but when on plane he launched the ball. Top of the class talent with massive projection, more to come and is an outstanding student as well. Named to play in the Perfect Game 14U Select Festival.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
