2026 PG Sophomore National Showcase (2029 Grads)
Russell Nelson is a 2029 RHP/OF with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Queen Creek, AZ who attends Casteel. Strong and sturdy young build, especially in the lower half. Works from a rhythmic toe tap delivery with a low leg raise over the rubber and a full arm swing to a 3/4's arm slot, has some coil and hides the ball well in back, solid overall mechanics. Fastball topped out at 88 mph with some running life, has been up to 90 mph at PG events in the past. Change up showed nice tumble and depth, also showed some feel for a mid-70's curveball. Long track record as a strike thrower, 68% strikes in 2026. 7.26 runner in the sixty. Secondary outfielder on defense, showed good fundamentals and athleticism through the ball and arm played well. Also worked out in the infield but was much more suited for and comfortable in the outfield. Right handed hitter, has some strength in his swing from a wide base, can turn the barrel over and create impact to the pull side. Good student.
