Midwest Underclass BP Highlights
8/22/2015
Jaden Rolffs (2018 C, Pella, IA) has a big and strong 6-1/190 build from a '18 and has lots of right handed power from a spread stance with a hand set that helps create lots of loft in his swing.
Drew Black (2018 SS, Overland Park, KS) has quick hands at the plate and a fluid right handed swing. He gets to his front side well and hits the ball out front with authority.
Miko Rodriguez (2018 OF, Ada, MI) is very strong for his age and the ball comes off his barrel hard, especially when driving it to right centerfield.
Joel Thompson (2017 C, Council Bluffs, IA) hits from a tall and balanced stance with a loose and fluid swing that has very good extension out front. He flashed his future power potential on a few swings.
Cameron Cratic (2017 OF, Madison, WI) is a quick twitch athlete who has a very aggressive approach at the plate that fits his tool set well. He's quick to the ball and pulls it hard with a line drive swing.
Hayden Fiala (2017 SS, Sioux Falls, SD) catches the eye with his 6-3/180 build and keeps it with a loose and strong swing from a spread right handed stance. He's a very projectable hitter.
Riley Beck (2018 RHP, Cedar Rapids, IA) is a primary pitcher but did two things very well; he swung hard and created some bat speed and he squared the ball up consistently. That's always a good combination.
Ethan Hayes (2017 OF, Cedar Falls, IA) is another player who looks the part at 6-2/190. He has a nice and loose right handed swing and the ball comes off his barrel well.
Matt McCormick (2019 C, Orland Park, IL) is one of the younger players here but he has enough present strength to hit and drives the ball hard, especially when the left handed hitter is getting his front side cleared and hitting to right centerfield.
Dawson Deitch (2017 1B, Ankeny, IA) is one or two swing adjustments from really being able to power the ball hard. When he learns to hit from above the ball, watch out.
Hunter Koep (2017 RHP, Northfield, MN) might be the strongest underclass player in Cedar Rapids. He hits from an open stance and looks to pull and lift the ball and did, blasting a couple of long home runs to left field that were impressive on a day when the ball rarely left the yard.
Hayden Schaefer (2017 SS, O'Fallon, IL) still has to refine his timing at the plate but he shows very good bat speed and projects lots of extra base power in the future.
