Cooper Cirksena is a 2018 3B/RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Norwalk, IA who attends Norwalk HS. Medium, athletic frame with good strength and build throughout body. Sets up to hit from upright, squared stance with high hand set. Lays barrel back in load to get on plane early, flashes hand quickness and bat speed through the zone on line drive swing plane, generates good extension when on top, found the barrel consistently and flashed good backspin and carry into the air. Worked out defensively in the infield. Moves well to the ball aggressively, gets hands out on time and shows clean funneling action when fielding, transfers well and shows quick release across the diamond with accurate throws clocked up to 75 MPH. Pitched a swell, quick-paced delivery with leg lift to belt, stays online and drives downhill well. Longer arm stroke with some hook in the back, gets up to three quarters arm slot. Fastball worked 72-75 MPH with good arm side run, showed curveball with 10/4 slurvy shape and good bite, sharpness at the plate. Threw a ton of strikes and kept hitters off balance by working quickly and pounding the zone. Good student.
