Sunday Batting Practice Highlights >>

6/10/2018 3:40:20 PM

Joseph Acosta (2021 RHP, Murrieta, CA) is a primary pitcher who has two-way prospect tools.  He has a nice right handed swing with very good timing and made solid line drive contact with lots of projection to his swing.

Nolan Craddock (2020 LHP, Reno, NV) is another primary pitcher who has a good chance to develop as a hitter, too.  He's an athletic 6-4/190 prospect who explodes his hands to the ball well and creates bat speed and some right centerfield lift.

Nate Mills (2020 OF, Carlsbad, CA) has a very athletic looking 6-1/175 build and plenty of present right handed bat speed to go lots of projection.  He drove the ball consistently up the left centerfield alley with some carry.

Jake Bold (2022 C, La Jolla, CA) is a young 2022 right handed hitter with a loose and extended swing that shows very good bat speed for his age.  He's 5-11/170 with lots of physical projection, too.

Dylan Holt (2019 C, Huntington Beach, CA) is a strong young catcher with a pretty simple and aggressive right handed swing.  He was very consistent getting the barrel into the zone with bat speed and continually drove the gaps hard.

Garret Ostrander (2020 SS, Rancho Bernardo, CA) has a young middle infielder's build and uses his hips and lower half very well to help generate bat speed.  He hits behind the ball well and drives it hard to the middle of the field.

Zack Torres (2021 OF, Vista, CA) has very strong and quick hands for a rising sophomore and a big hand load that most young hitters could pull off.  For Torres it gives him serious barrel whip and the ability to drive the ball hard.

Robert Jordan (2019 MIF, Murrieta, CA) is a very strong 6-2/205 infielder who can really put a charge into the ball and drive it deep.  He hits from a crouched and bent over approach that doesn't help his power, which could really blossom with a few adjustments.

Austin Dudas (2021 SS, Thousand Oaks, CA) is another slender bodied and projectable middle infielder with very good hitting mechanics and more bat speed than you would expect from a 5-10/140 athlete.  He was very consistent in his pull to mid field line drive contact.

3-Columbia Blue vs 4-Gold Game Highlights >>

6/9/2018 3:22:04 PM

Austin Dudas (2021 SS, Thousand Oaks, CA) Collected a couple of hits in the game. Athletic actions at the plate with a good eye in the box. Makes solid contact consistently.

Josh McGonigle (2021 2B, Ladera Ranch, CA) Had an extra base hit to the opposite field on a line drive into the right field corner. Showed the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Battled in the box well.

Thomas Caneday (2020 RHP, Lemon Grove, CA) Pitched four good innings to start the game. Only allowed one hit and no runs while striking out 5 batters and walking none. Sat in the low 80's and topped out at 848 miles per hour. Showed good balance on the mound with a solid presence.

David Rudd-Grow (2020 RHP, Barstow, CA) Threw three innings of relief without allowing a hit. Struck out 5 out of 9 batters faced. Long and loose arm circle. Threw three different pitches for strikes.

Evan Zimmerman (2019 RHP, San Diego, CA) Finished the game with three innings of no hit ball. Located pitches well and generated a lot of weak contact for outs.

Nolan Craddock (2020 LHP, Reno, NV) Allowed just one hit in three innings and struck out three. Really good secondary pitch in the 12-to-6 curveball that showed tight spin and late life.

Clayton Ray (2019 LHP, Santa Cruz, CA) Struck out seven batters over four innings. Good lefty on the mound. Sat in the low to mid 80's while topping out at 85 miles per hour. Got good run to the fastball.

Saturday Batting Practice Highlights >>

6/9/2018 12:00:00 AM

Cayden Clark (2021 OF, Erda, UT) is a lean and projectable outfielder with solid hitting mechanics and some present bat speed and extension through contact.  He's going to keep improving as he adds strength and physical maturity.

Christian Douglass (2021 OF, Carlsbad, CA) is a left handed hitter with some quick twitch athleticism and an aggressive swing approach.  He can impact the ball hard when he gets his stride foot down in time and drove the right centerfield gap a number of times.

Jarrett Korson (2019 RHP, Lake Elsinore, CA) is a primary pitcher with good strength in his 6-1/185 frame and sound approach with good bat speed.  He squared the ball up well and especially drove it with carry to the opposite field.

Ricky Tibbett (2019 RHP, Chula Vista, CA) is another primary pitcher who has solid hitting tools and the ability to square up the ball consistently with some bat speed behind it.  It's a simple and repeatable approach with solid right centerfield contact.

Cade Malone (2019 3B, Albuquerque, NM) is a big and strong 6-2/195 right handed hitter who explodes his hands to contact very well with a short hand path and has present bat speed and the ability to impact the ball hard.

Trent Jackson (2019 C, Kent, WA) is a switch-hitter but is much better left handed, with present bat speed and power from an aggressive swing with a big but well timed shift into contact.

Rydge Ishii (2020 OF, Hilo, HI) takes a full and aggressive right handed swing from a low hand start and generates very good bat speed that promises plenty of future power.

Ryan Flaherty (2019 SS, Trabuco Canyon, CA) has a pull oriented right handed swing and has the bat speed and strength to impact the ball hard when he gets a pitch on the inside half he can turn on and drive.

Jashia Morrissey (2019 SS, Los Angeles, CA) is a switch-hitter who stands out because he grades out pretty equally from both sides of the plate.  He's more contact oriented from the right side, with more lift let handed, but has bat speed both ways.

Shane Sasaki (2019 OF, Mililani, HI) had perhaps the best raw bat speed we saw on Saturday and is going to be on prospect lists from the state of Hawaii.  He attacks the ball violently and drove it hard with intent.  The Southwestern College ballpark is very difficult to hit the ball out of and Sasaki fell just short on multiple occasions.

Rocco Peppi (2020 SS, Huntington Beach, CA) has a compact strong athletic build and a short swing with solid mid field to pull side line drive contact.  He's got strong hands and was well timed from the start to drive the ball to all fields.

Michael Prieto (2019 OF, Victorville, CA) is a left handed hitter with a distinct lift and pull approach.  He gets the ball to jump hard and repeated his mechanics and timing well.

Jordan Waller (2020 C, Chula Vista, CA) has a strong and compact young catcher's build and a short and strong swing that he repeats very well, creating consistent hard line drive contact.

Cade Cabral (2020 SS, San Diego, CA) looks like a very polished right handed hitter with the ability to use the whole field  with strong and mature barrel control.  He will continue to improve as his 5-10/150 frame adds strength.

Liam Brogan (2020 OF, San Diego, CA) is another right handed hitter with a young 6-1/175 frame who has surprising bat speed for his size and age.  He hits from behind the ball well with the ability to drive both the gaps.

Troy Smith (2020 C, Newport Beach, CA) has a simple hitting approach with a short swing and some present strength in his 6-2/185 frame.  His best contact was hard line drives to right centerfield when he stayed on top of the ball well.

Mahki Backstrom (2019 1B, Los Angeles, CA) is some kind of strong at 6-5/220 and has a loose and whippy left handed swing that can really impact the ball hard.  He's one of the most high ceiling talents at the event.

Aaron Ujimori (2019 2B, Honolulu, HI) is a switch-hitter with some present strength in his 5-8/155 build and quick twitch hands at the plate, especially from the left side.

David Shackelford (2021 OF, La Habra, CA) is a young 5-9/145 outfielder and right handed hitter with an aggressive approach and the ability to impact the ball hard for his size and age.  His swing is especially loose with good extension through contact.

George Christison (2019 OF, Vacaville, CA) has plenty of present strength and has a full body left handed swing that is looking to impact the ball and pull it hard.  He took his BP swing into the games and picked up a few extra base hits as well.

Brandon Lawrence (2019 SS, Santa Ynez, CA) is a Michigan commit who is a switch-hitter with a definite power approach from both sides of the plate.  He flashed serious pop from the left side of the plate, with a calmer more easily repeatable swing from the right side.
