Wyatt Nelson is a 2020 SS/RHP, MIF, OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Loyola High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, young and projectable build with room to fill and develop moving forward. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front and shows sound actions with the glove, consistent footwork moving towards the ball, extra step through release but works on top of the ball well, present arm strength across the diamond, maintained balance on the charge. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, leg lift up to belt; worked from a side arm release but will also raise up to a tight three-quarters release. Fastball shows running life to arm side up to 80 mph from both slots with quickness to arm, curveball shows 11-5 shape with depth from higher slot and bite on the pitch developed throughout time on mound. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a gliding leg lift trigger moving into contact. Simple swing mechanics and approach in the box, incorporates lower half well into swing with a full path through the zone. Shows comfort creating contact to his pull side, creates bat speed and shows jump off the barrel with carry when squared. Good student.
