Trevor Brooks (2020 C, Melissa, TX) tripled and doubled in the game today for the Orange team today. Brooks showed good bat at plate with a level swing and has pop in his bat. 

Cameron Sumner (2021 1B, Tifton, GA) tripled and singled in the game for the Orange team today as well. Sumner showed a good swing at the plate with bat speed and makes consistent hard contact at the plate.

Zack Wasson (2021 2B, Glasgow, KY) singled in his second and third at bats of the day today. Wasson showed a confident approach at the plate with a level swing and hits the ball where it's pitched.

Bo Lewis (2020 C, Dawsonville, GA) doubled in his second at bat of the day today. Lewis showed bat speed at the plate with pop in his bat. behind the plate Lewis is a good receiver with strong catch and throw skills.

Reuben Costin (2021 LHP/1B, Midlothian, VA) doubled in his last at bat of the showcase today. Costin has a smooth swing at the plate with bat speed and squared the ball up for his double. 

Dylan Vigue (2022 SS, Leominster, MA) doubled in his first at bat of the day as well. Vigue showed good bat speed at the plate with a line drive swing plane and made hard solid contact at the plate. 

Cameron Leach (2021 OF/RHP, Conway, AR) sat 83-86mph on his fastball mixing in his curveball at 75mph and a splitter at 79mph. Leach pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. Leach did a good job of hitting his spots, has late life to his fastball and has good depth to his curveball with late bite.

Bennett Kelly (2021 SS, Peoria, IL) singled both times he came up in his teams last game today. Kelly showed a confident approach at the plate with a level swing and makes consistent hard contact.

Preston Burnside (2022 SS, Bluffton, SC) tripled in his at bat this afternoon for the purple team. Burnside showed the ability to square the ball up at the plate with bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat.

Andrew Loeffelman (2021 C, Saint Louis, MO) doubled in his first at bat of the day today. Loeffelman showed a level swing with pop in his bat and has good instincts on the bases. 

Ryan Porter (2021 SS/RHP, Katy, TX) sat 82-84mph on his fastball mixing in his curveball at 70mph and his changeup at 78mph. Porter pitches with good tempo on the mound and attacked hitters early with his fastball. At the plate Porter tripled in his second at bat of the game today. Porter drove the ball to the LF wall and showed good speed on the bases for his triple. 

Lawson Evans (2020 OF, Brentwood, TN) singled in his last two at bats of the day today. Evans has a line drive swing plane with bat speed and has a sound approach at the plate.

Aj Whiteherse (2021 SS, Pittsburgh, PA) singled in his last two at bats as well for the Navy team today. Whiteherse has a contact approach at the plate with a level swing and does a good job of hitting the ball where it's pitched.

Dawson Conder (2020 1B/RHP, Nolensville, TN) topped out at 85mph this morning pairing it his fastball with his curveball at 65mph and his changeup at 71mph. Conder pitches with good tempo on the mound, mixing in his off-speed pitches well striking out 5 batters in his 2 innings of work.

Kenny Keller (2020 LHP/OF, Tampa, FL) doubled in his first at bat of the game today. Keller showed a good approach at the plate with a level swing. In the outfield today Keller made a couple of diving catches showing off his range and getting good jumps on fly balls. 

Connor Christenson (2023 MIF, Cincinnati, OH) doubled in his second at bat of the game for the Green team today. Christenson has a quiet approach at the plate with a good swing and has bat speed. 

Cameron Brock (2021 SS, Fairhope, AL) singled two times this morning for the Black team. Brock has a confident approach at the plate with a smooth swing and makes solid consistent contact at the plate.

Cole Jones (2021 C/RHP, Hollister, MO) started the game for the Green team today and went 9 up 9 down. Jones did a good job of working to both sides of the plate and mixed his pitches well. 




7- Purple Vs. 8- Red Highlights

Brendan Ryan (2021 OF, Windermere, FL) doubled in his second at bat of the game today for the Purple team. Ryan makes hard consistent contact at the plate with a smooth swing and showed the ability to square the ball up. 

Andrew Parr (2020 RHP/C, Opelika, AL) doubled as well for the Purple team today. Parr does good job of hitting the ball where it's pitched and showed good instincts on the bases. On the mound Parr did a good job of mixing in his pitches for strikes to keep hitters off-balance. 

 



8- Red Vs. 9- Royal Highlights

10/20/2019

Michael Bannister Jr (2021 2B, Richmond, KY) doubled in his first at bat of the game today. Bannister Jr. has a level swing with a sound approach at the plate and does a good job of hitting the ball where it's pitched. 

Reuben Costin (2021 LHP, Midlothian, VA) topped out at 78mph on his fastball mixing in his curveball at 63mph and his changeup at 66mph. Costin has a clean compact delivery with a loose arm action. Costin does a good job of working down in the zone and uses his changeup effectively to keep hitters off-balance.

Ethan Lail (2021 OF/RHP, Lilburn, GA) sat 81-84mph on his fastball mixing in a curveball at 74mph and his changeup at 78mph. Lail pitches from a low 3/4 arm slot with a quick compact delivery and has a loose arm action. Lail does a good job of pitching to his glove side and attacks hitters with his fastball. 

 


2019 Fall Academic Showcase Batting Practice Blog

Ryan Becker (2022 C, Cumming, GA) found the barrel early and often. When he gets extended, he shows big time pop to the pull side. Drove the ball in the gap with ease including one off the top of the fence. Natural lift to swing as well. 

Jacob Buysse (2022 1B, Wauconda, IL) flashed a big, strong frame with bat speed present. Raw hit tool pounded the baseball. Very loud contact when squared up. Utilized his weight well into swing as he sprayed the baseball gap to gap. 

Angelo Scionti (2021 OF, Andrews, NC) utilized an big weight transfer into an uphill swing path as he hammered baseballs. With a pull side approach, he got the bat head out front and drove the baseball with ease. He knocked one off the rightfield wall as he went on to hit it on a string throughout the round. 

Kevin Okins (2020 C, Collierville, TN) showcased a simple look at the dish as he went on to flash a downhill swing path. He flashed plus bat speed as he utilized his lower half to generate power. Flashed signs of pull side power as well as he rattled one off the rightfield wall. 

Don Moritz (2022 3B, Dryden, VA) started with a big leg kick as he threw his weight into the baseball. He pounded the middle of the field with line drives as his hands proved to be his best asset. He found the barrel often as he got extended.

Dawson Conder (2020 1B, Nolensville, TN)  flashed big time bat speed as he generated his power from his lower half. Some of the loudest wood of the day came off of his bat as he drove the baseball gap to gap proved he could spray it around. He looked to do damage in each swing and did just that throughout his impressive round. 

Abe Cagle (2022 1B, Milton, GA) utilized one of the more balanced looks of the day as he showed complete control of the barrel. Stayed behind the barrel well as he found it often. He showed natural lift to the swing as he proved he could drive it deep. 

Ethan Lail (2021 OF, Lilburn, GA) started from an upright stance as he got his hands deep and showed plus bat speed. Good feel for the barrel as he started slow in the round and then heated up in a hurry. He turned on one and drove it over the leftfield fence with ease. 

AJ Whiteherse (2021 SS, Pittsburgh, PA) proved he could create separation as he drove the baseball around the park. He created some loud contact as he pounded the middle of the field and then worked his way back to showing some pull side pop. Some of the strongest hands at the event this weekend at the dish. 

Miles Thomas (2022 C, Tuscaloosa, AL) threw hands at the baseball with intent to do damage and he did just that. Very raw hit tool as he strength created big bat speed. Very loud contact when he squared it up as he went deep into the gap in leftcenter pitch after pitch. 

Ryan Porter (2021 SS, Katy, TX) started with an open stance and saw the baseball well out of hand. He hammered some long fly balls to deep center as he made loud contact with each swing. At the end of his round, he proved he could go gap to gap as well. 

8- Red Vs. 9- Royal Highlights

Sammy Olesen (2022 2B, Oyster Bay, NY) doubled in his first at bat this afternoon. Olesen made solid contact at the plate with quick hands and has an aggressive approach at the plate. 

Stan Zagrodnik (2022 OF, Flowery Branch, GA) doubled in his first at bat of his teams second game today. Zagrodnik 

 


2- Col. Blue Vs. 1- Black

10/19/2019

Angelo Scionti (2021 OF, Andrews, NC) tripled and singled in the game for the Col. Blue team. Showed good bat speed at the plate, consistently barreling the ball up and has lots of speed on the bases. 

Adam Newman (2023 OF, Marietta, GA) tripled in his last at bat of the day this afternoon. Newman has a short swing at the plate with a direct bat path and showed good instincts on the bases. 

Aiden Cizek (2023 SS, Saint Albans, MO) singled in his last three at bats of the day today. Cizek showed a sound approach at the plate with a smooth swing and consistently makes contact. 

Gage Ambruster (2021 SS, Elmer, NJ) started and ended his day at the plate with a pair of singles. Ambruster displayed quick hands at the plate with a good swing and makes consistent contact at the plate. 

 


3- Gold Vs. 4- Green Highlights

10/19/2019

Travis Dannecker (2021 1B, Mount Pleasant, SC) singled and doubled in the game today for the green team. Dannecker has a line drive swing plane with bat speed and drives the ball to the gaps. 

Bo Millikan (2021 2B, Knoxville, TN) singled twice in the game for the green team today. Millikan makes hard solid contact at the plate with bat speed and has a confident approach. 

Kenny Keller (2020 LHP/OF, Tampa, FL) tripled in his second at bat of the day today. Keller displayed good speed on the bases with a level swing while showing the ability to square the ball up at the plate. 

Robbie Carvelli (2023 OF, Flemington, NJ) collected three singles on the day for the green team. Carvelli showed a confident approach at the plate with a smooth swing and has good instincts on the bases. 

Corey "CJ" Gordon (2021 RHP, Douglasville, GA) sat76-80mph on his fastball mixing in his slider at 70mph. Gordon has a compact arm action with arm speed, and has good shape to his slider which generates swing and misses. 

Kase Myers (2021 C, Okeechobee, FL) singled his first two at bats of the day today. Myers showed an aggressive approach at the plate with a sound approach at the plate.

Archer Wong-Shasteen (2021 2B, Knoxville, TN) tripled in his last at bat of the game today. Wong-Shasteen does a good job of hitting the ball where it's pitched and makes solid consistent contact at the plate.

Cameron Leach (2021 OF, Conway, AR) singled and tripled in the game for the purple team today. Leach showed good bat speed at the plate with pop in his bat and does a good job of hitting the ball where it's pitched.

10/19/2019

Brendan Ryan (2021 OF, Windermere, FL) - has an aggressive approach at the plate making consistent hard contact. Brendan's 60 time in workouts translated in game when he stretched out the triple in his 1st AB.

Whit Overstreet (2020 RHP, Memphis, TN) - has good tempo to delivery and showed some pitchability varying speeds and working well to both sides of the plate in his 3 innings of work, while punching out 5. His fastball sat 76-80 MPH and mixed in an 11/5 breaking ball at 62 MPH, slider at 67 MPH and change-up at 72 MPH.

Cole Stewart (2020 RHP, Foley, AL) - had a good showing on the bump pitching 3 strong innings and striking out 7 of the 12 hitters he faced. Cole did a good job of working his fastball in all quadrants of the strike zone to keep hitters off balance (Sat 76-81 MPH). He also mixed in a curveball at 69 MPH that was an effective pitch with a later 11/5 break with good spin.

Zachary Meaux (2022 C, Gulf Breeze, FL) tripled in the game for the red team today. Meaux showed an aggressive approach at the plate with pop in his bat and a line drive swing plane. 


5-Navy vs 6-Orange Game Highlights

10/19/2019

Caden Miller (2022 OF, The Woodlands, TX) - showed an aggressive approach at the plate making consistent contact in game with fast hands going 4-4 with 2 runs scored.

Moses Lim (2021 OF, Roswell, GA) - has a good approach at the plate with a smooth swing making consistent hard contact. Moses was 3-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI in the game.

Alex Larson (2022 RHP, Syosset, NY) - is a good disciplined hitter at the plate with fast hands and contact skills showing the ability to hit for power to the opposite field. Larson was 2-4 at the plate with a single, double and RBI. He also had a good outing on the bump going 4 Innings strong and punching out 4 with his fastball sitting 74-78 MPH. 

Kyuss Gargett (2023 SS, Anderson, IN) - was only 1-4 offensively in the box score, but impressed showing consistent hard contact with fast hands and pop in his bat. He recorded a double and RBI in the game.

Charlie Forbes (2021 OF, Midland, GA) - has a patient approach at the plate while showing the ability to hit to all fields recording a double in game.

Carson Carey (2022 C, Bossier City, LA) - displayed quick hands and contact skills going 2-3 with 2 singles in the game while generating some power.

Trevor Brooks (2020 C, Melissa, TX) - showed off the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field with power collecting a triple and RBI in the game.  

Christopher Gardner (2021 SS, Selma, AL) - had a good day at the plate going 2-2 with a double. He showed good hand speed and contact skills with power potential. 

AJ Horkan (2021 RHP, Jacksonville, FL) - Filled up the strike zone throughout his five innings of work and struck out six. His fastball had some sink action and arm side run topping out at 84 MPH. Got a lot of weak contact and his curveball showed well with good spin and a later 11/5 break at 74 MPH. He showed a change-up with similar arm speed to FB and some fade with ability to throw for strikes at 74 MPH. Horkan impressed more and more the deeper he went into his outing.
