7-Red vs. 10-White Game Highlights

10/20/2019

Troy Johnson (2021 SS, Corpus Christi, TX): Johnson showed off his offensive ability in this game, picking up a couple hits including a double and a single, covering the plate well with a quick stroke and good strength with projectable power.

Keyon Guillory (2022 3B, Lake Charles, LA): Guillory had a very good day at the plate regardless of the box score, barreling up several balls with good jump and carry, picking up an RBI on a sac fly. He also pitched and ran his fastball up to 85 mph with a tight slider.

Harrison Dipasquale (2022 MIF, The Woodlands, TX): DiPasquale showed off quality hitting tools and overall athleticism, burning down the line quickly and picking up a single that way, also handling the bat well and finding several barrels.

Trent Caram (2023 RHP, Houston, TX): Caram had a loud offensive day, picking up 3 hits including a loud triple pull-side. He also showed the ability to use the whole field, squaring some balls up the opposite way for singles as well.

Juan Rivera (2022 2B, McAllen, TX): Rivera's speed stands out right away as a loud tool and it makes an impact on the game, stealing several bases in this one, including taking extra bases aggressively and successfully.

Brayden Powers (2022 LHP, Katy, TX): Powers pitched extremely well, going 3 shutout innings while racking up 4 punchouts with no hits allowed. He's deceptive and in command the whole time, mixing and matching three pitches for strikes and projecting well long term.

Henry Mitchell (2022 MIF, Albuquerque, NM): Mitchell punched out 5 over 2 innings, running his fastball up to 84 mph with a quick arm and excellent tempo. His breaking ball is sharp and misses bats and his changeup shows good sink on it as well, doing a great job of throwing strikes.

Green vs Navy highlights

10/20/2019

Rilan Quinones (2021 SS, San Antonio, TX) started off his day with a hard hit triple. He has good feel for the zone and bat control showing power to the opposite field. He also showed versatility and athleticism on the mound with a fastball up to 81mph and good command of 3 pitches.

Rowdy Hoadley (2021 SS, Georgetown, TX) showed great body control defensively and made all the plays. He has big glove side range and a developed back hand.

Tristan Thomas (2021 OF, Sugar Land, TX) is a projectable LHP with a tall frame and pitches downhill. His fastball was up to 82mph with life, and has good control of of his curveball and change.

Batting Practice Highlights

10/19/2019

Rilan Quinones (2021 SS, San Antonio, TX) has a very athletic 6-3/195 build and a nice combination of hand quickness and physical strength.  He peppered the gaps with hard line drives that had plenty of jump and carry.

Ryan Cordova (2021 3B, Pflugerville, TX) has an aggressive right handed approach with good strength in his right handed swing and gets the ball to jump hard at times.  He creates backspin on the ball and gets carry up the gaps.

Luis Quintero Madriz (2021 RHP, Rosharon, TX) is a big young man at 6-4/240 and has a notably short swing for his size to go with a simple, low effort swing approach.  He was very consistent in squaring the ball up and getting carry and it will be interesting to see how he swings the bat in games.

Grayson Lincecum (2023 3B, Houston, TX) has a big and strong 6-2/190 build for his age and a nice calm and under control approach at the plate that lets his strength work for him.  He drove some balls hard to the right centerfield gap and has all the tools to keep developing the next few years in high school.

Henry Cone (2021 RHP, Brenham, TX) is a switch-hitter but he looked much more developed from the left side of the plate, where his strength and combination of strength and bat speed stood out.

Joseph (Nico) Cabutto (2022 OF, Plano, TX) got timed up quickly and showed his strength and ability to drive the ball well.  He tends to get to his front side early but has that hitter's ability to keep his hands back and still generate some bat speed and leverage.

Troy Johnson (2021 SS, Corpus Christi, TX) had a nice round, as the right handed hitter kept improving virtually every pitch with his contact and timing and ended up showing his power to left centerfield well over the last few swings.  He's a very athletic young player and projects well physically.

Blake Mitchell (2023 C, Sinton, TX) is still a few years and a few pounds from having real strength but he has excellent hitting mechanics and ability to barrel up the ball.  And he's a left handed hitting catcher as well, which is always a nice combination to have in your tool box.

Henry Mitchell (2022 MIF, Albuquerque, NM) is a rare young switch-hitter who looks both comfortable in the box from both sides and shows bat speed and barrel ability as well.  His left handed swing was looser and more contact oriented, while he showed more lift and pop from the right side.

Max Milligan (2021 OF, Amarillo, TX) took the most impressive batting practice of the day, driving a couple of balls deep over the fence in right to right centerfield and swing with intent and confidence.  The 5-11/160 left handed hitter is a tightly wound strong athlete with plenty of room to keep getting stronger.

Diego Roel Gomez (2023 RHP, Pharr, TX) may not be able to take his full gorilla power swing into the games but it was fun to watch the strong and aggressive 6-1/210 athlete endanger the car windshields in left field numerous times during his round.

Ray Rose III (2024 3B, Houston, TX) is extra big and strong at 6-1/175 for his age and class and that showed in his raw bat speed and the occasional jump he put on the ball.  He has some adjustments to make to his base swing mechanics but plenty of time to work them out.

Logan Dunn (2021 SS, Mount Pleasant, TX) lacks some strength in his slender 6-2/155 frame but is short and quick to the ball with a repeatable swing and got surprising carry when he frequently squared the ball up.  He's a very projectable young hitter to keep an eye on.

Zach Zarko (2021 SS, Hurst, TX) is a quick twitch athlete who takes a full aggressive cut at the ball and has more bat speed than his 5-8/150 build would usually indicate.  He showed surprising barrel to ball skills despite the effort in his swing and made solid pull contact.

Bryce Calloway (2021 1B, Houston, TX) stands out as one of the strongest players at the showcase at 6-3/225 and can get a ball to jump hard.  His right handed swing gets top hand heavy at times but he has big power potential down the road.

Preston Havenor (2021 C, Spring, TX) was one of the top athletes at the showcase and his offensive potential contributed to that ceiling.  He had very nice hand speed through contact creating barrel whip and bat speed and has tons of physical projection ahead of him.

John Coleman (2021 RHP, Lubbock, TX) has a strong and compact 5-11/180 build and does a nice job of sinking into his hips in his swing and generating lower half torque and strength to drive his swing.  He timed up his swing quickly and drove some balls with plus carry.

Game Highlights Orange vs Navy

10/19/2019

Rowdy Hoadley (2021 SS, Georgetown, TX) was one-for-two at the plate showing natural lift to the pull side and controlled the barrel well from the left-side of the plate. He also worked an inning on the mound with three strikeouts with easy velocity between 83-86 mph.

Henry Cone (2021 RHP, Brenham, TX) picked up three strikeouts in three innings of work with a fastball that sat between 82-85 mph and landed a curveball and cutter consistently.

Ryan Pehrson (2021 RHP, Southlake, TX) collected six strikeouts with a heavy downhill angle and a hyper-fast tempo. His fastball sat 84-88 mph for three innings and he allowed only one hit and no runs to cross the plate.

Joseph (Nico) Cabutto (2022 OF, Plano, TX) showed a patient approach at the plate and the ability to drive the ball with a double in his final at-bat as part of a one-for-three day at the plate.

Game Highlights Gray vs Green

10/19/2019

Luis Quintero Madriz (2021 RHP, Rosharon, TX) used his large frame and three-quarters arm slot to collect five strikeouts over three innings of work without allowing a hit. Displays a loose arm and a fastball that worked between 80-84 mph.

Nathan Hunter (2021 RHP, Fort Worth, TX) worked a solid three innings on the mound with a fastball that reached up to 83-mph, while showing the ability to land both a curveball and changeup. He worked around some defensive lapses behind him to post an effective outing.

Riley Pipes (2023 C, Lubbock, TX) collected a one-for-two day at the plate with a well lined single to left field in his first at-bat.

Cade McCary (2022 OF, Houston, TX) flashed some potential in the bat with a lined RBI-single to left field, he also reached on an error and stole a base.
