High School Top 50: 50-41

50.  Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.)
2023 Record:
29-8
Head Coach: Bob Riker
Notable Prospect(s): 3B Tyler Fox (Ohio State), RHP Chase Van Ameyde (Notre Dame), C Owen Turner (Yale), RHP Blake Ilitch (Duke), C Broder Katke (Duke), RHP/3B Aiden Pack

Brother Rice comes into the 2024 season as easily one of the most talented teams in the Ohio Valley region. Their staff is led by senior Chase Van Ameyde, a Notre Dame commit, who has been up to the low-90s. The talent on the staff doesn’t end there as they also have the top ranked player in Michigan in the 2025 class in Blake Ilitch, a Duke commit, who’s got some of the loudest stuff in the country. Offensively they’ll be paced by Ohio State commit Tyler Fox and Yale commit Owen Turner. They also bring in two of the most talented freshman in the nation in Broder Katke and Aiden Pack. The Warriors certainly look like the favorite coming into the year to win the league for the first time since 2018.

49. Casteel (Queen Creek, Ariz.)
2023 Record:
27-6
Head Coach: Matt Denny
Notable Prospect(s): LHP Mason Russell (Arizona), OF Landon Hairston (Arizona State), OF Tyler Russell (Arizona), C Kade Thompson (Arizona), RHP Gabe Schneider (Washington State), OF Ryan Harwood, OF Connor Russell (Arizona State)

Casteel rattled off 27 wins a season ago and return an extremely talented roster in 2024. On the mound they are led by top-100 player in the country in Mason Russell who has been up to 93 mph with a wipeout slider. Washington State commit Gabe Schneider will also play a big role on this staff behind Russell, giving them a great one-two at the top of the rotation. The offensive side of things is led by seniors Landon Hairston, Tyler Russell, and Kade Thompson along with some young talent in Ryan Harwood and Connor Russell. This is a veteran group on the mound with a good chance to surpass their win total from a year ago.

48. Trinity (Louisville, Ky.)
2023 Record:
33-7
Head Coach: Rick Arnold
Notable Prospect(s): SS Dane Morrow (Tennessee), SS Jake Schweitzer (Louisville), LHP Tyce Powers, RHP Kyle Campbell (Louisville), LHP Evan Boeckmann (Wright State), RHP Colton Cravens, OF Caleb Ricks (Lousiville), 1B Nolan Hosking, RHP Gray Davis

The Trinity Shamrocks are perennially one of the best teams in the state of Kentucky and the 2024 season doesn’t look much different. Everything starts on the mound for this team as they have a veteran staff with great stuff. They will be led by a trio of seniors in Tyce Powers, Kyle Campbell and Evan Boeckmann. They also have one of the top underclass arms in the country in Colton Cravens who has monstrous projection. Offensively they will be led by a strong upper-class group that includes seniors Dane Morrow, a Tennessee commit, and Jake Schweitzer, a Louisville commit. Trinity comes into the season with one of the top rosters in the country and will be looking to regain the state title for the first time since 2021.

47. Hagerty (Oviedo, Fla.)
2023 Record:
19-7
Head Coach: Mike Sindone
Notable Prospect(s): LHP/OF Talan Bell (Clemson), SS Austin Jacobs (Clemson), RHP Eli Fleming (Pittsburgh), RHP Brayden Toro (USF), OF Stephen Chucka (UCF), Max Murray Jr. (UCF), OF Ryan Foscolo (Kentucky), SS Noah Adkins

Hagerty comes into the year as a team to look out for as they look to repeat their 2022 season with another trip to Fort Myers. The 2024 roster is headlined by Clemson commit and PG All-American Talan Bell who is one of the top two-way talents in the entire class. He’s joined by another Clemson commit in Austin Jacobs who’s one of the top middle infielders in the country. The rotation rounds out with two talented senior arms in Eli Fleming and Brayden Toro. Juniors Stephen Chucka, Max Murray Jr. and Ryan Foscolo are three other names on the offensive side to look out for.

46. Brookwood (Snellville, Ga.)
2023 Record:
19-12
Head Coach: Robby Gilbert
Notable Prospect(s): RHP Jackson Barberi (Florida), RHP Clinton Harris (Auburn), C Preston Bonn (Georgia), LHP Charlie Foster (Georgia), SS Cody Fuller, OF John Beverley, C Benjamin Rogozinski, C Alexander Reyes, MIF Max Rogozinski

Brookwood comes into the 2024 season with a wealth of riches on the mound. The staff is headlined by Florida commit Jackson Barberi and Auburn commit Clinton Harris, both have been into the mid-90s within the past year. The talent doesn’t end there as they also have Georgia commit Charlie Foster, one of the top left-handers in the state. Handling the staff will be another Georgia commit Preston Bonn who will also be a vital part to the Broncos offense. Cody Fuller and John Beverly are two other senior bats that will make a big impact. This staff is arguably the best in the state coming into the year and will keep them in every game they play in.

45. Westlake (Austin, Texas)
2023 Record:
40-5
Head Coach: Jim Blair
Notable Prospect(s): SS Theo Gillen (Texas), 3B Sage Sanders (Houston), LHP Chance Covert II (Texas), RHP Ethan Armbruster, OF Lane Johnson

This team was in states a year ago and finished the year at 40-5, a ridiculously impressive record given the gauntlet that is playing 6A in the state of Texas. While not overflowing with star names, Theo Gillen, a PG All-American, and Sage Sanders are two of the more impactful players in the state, which will give the heart of this offense serious firepower. Chance Covert II is a talented arm that’ll certainly log heavy innings, and they’ll lean on some of their depth this year to hopefully make a similar run to what they made in 2023.

44. Basic (Henderson, Nev.)
2023 Record:
25-9
Head Coach: Scott Baker
Notable Prospect(s): SS Ty Southisene (Tennessee), RHP Tee Southisene (USC), SS Tate Southisene (USC), C Kealiikoa Won (Hawaii), OF Troy Southisene, OF Andruw Giles (Texas A&M), 2B Lyndon Lee

Coming off a strong year in 2023 where they nearly played for a state title, this team looks to be in excellent shape to make another run at it this spring. It’s a bit of a family affair as there are FOUR Southisene brothers all on this roster, all of which contribute in a variety of ways, headlined by PG All-American Ty Southisene, an impactful player on both sides. This program isn’t afraid to let their youth play either so guys like Andruw Giles and Lyndon Lee already have some experience, which paired with the rest gives them excellent depth.

43. Christian Brothers (Memphis, Tenn.)
2023 Record:
26-10
Head Coach: Jason Motte
Notable Prospect(s): RHP Riley Goodman (South Carolina), SS Gabe Boyd (Mississippi State), OF Carson Finch, 1B Kale Sanders, C Will Brick, C William Britt

It was a pretty solid year in 2023 as a whole, but this team fell short of its ultimate goal. While some obvious senior production was lost, they have good ones to step in their place, including Riley Goodman at the front of the rotation. While their experience is a big deal, their star power lies in their youth with Gabe Boyd, one of the country’s best players, as well as a couple big incoming freshmen in William Britt and Will Brick, the latter being a Top 10 guy in the freshman class. While their playing time is yet to be seen, they have the talent to contribute in a big way.

42. Durant (Plant City, Fla.)
2023 Record:
20-6
Head Coach: Butch Valdes
Notable Prospect(s): RHP Chase Mobley (FSU), RHP Blaine Rowland (Florida), C Carlos Morales (High Point), SS Nicholas April-Gath (VCU), RHP Jack Brooks, RHP Tristan Macpherson

They came up just a couple games short of a trip to Fort Myers to play in the Final 4 in 2023, but this team looks primed to make a longer run this spring with one of the best pitching duos in the state of PG All-American Chase Mobley and Blaine Rowland, their biggest innings contributor last year and a very talented arm. They’ve got a good chunk of their offensive production back in the form of now seniors, as well as some other pieces on the young end that’ll likely factor in. With Florida’s playoff format, this pitching duo is deadly.

41. Tomball (Tomball, Texas)
2023 Record:
26-13
Head Coach: Doug Rush
Notable Prospect(s): C Cade Arrambide (LSU), RHP Coleman Ryan, SS Braeden Scherzer (Sam Houston State), RHP CJ Sampson, C Catcher Hopkins (Texas A&M), RHP Karson Reeder, SS Harper Gates

This team went on a good playoff run in 2023 before falling to The Woodlands in 3 games, but they’re back with a lot of the key contributors from that club, as well as their younger guys now having another crucial year under their belt. Cade Arrambide is the big senior name here, a PG All-American and one of the top players in the entire country with a huge arm, while Braeden Scherzer will turn in steadily good at-bats. They’ll get some quality innings from their older guys, but the combination of CJ Sampson and Karson Reeder is likely one of the best, if not the best, sophomore combinations in the entire state of Texas.

Huntington Beach HS World Series Recap

MVPitcher: Duncan McLeod The uncommitted junior toed the slab in three of the four games for Team Mick, tossing 3 2/3 innings.  Zero walks, zero hits and 6 punchouts for the lefty who was used both as a starter in the series clinching game 4 and he closed out game 3 on Friday in quick fashion.  McLeod was very efficient as well, needing just 42 pitches over all his outings.  In the game 4 start, over two innings he punched out 3, with one strikeout with all of his offerings.  The mid 80’s fastball regularly played up, set up with efficient use of the secondaries, with the breaking ball 73/74 and fading change-up 72-74.   Owen Bone (2026) at it again... Solo shot in the 5th to tie things up. Back to back days with a home run for Bone. #PGHS pic.twitter.com/2JC9qETI5h — Perfect Game California (@California_PG) December 13, 2025 MV Hitter: ...

13u Tourney All-American Team

What a year it was in 2025 on the national landscape at the 13u level as Perfect Game continues to expand its reach around the country, providing an even bigger schedule of events coast-to-coast which has allowed players all over show out and gain their deserved recognition. Whether in Texas for the Houston 1000 or the 13u WWBA in West Palm Beach, we saw huge, eye opening performances from the players placed below, knowing that we could EASILY build a third team and likely a fourth without much effort.  As we do every year with this exercise, it's worth pointing out the trickiness of this age group and putting the teams together with the 13u group. While the players are all members of the Class of 2030, some are younger for the grade, which allowed them to play at the 12u level where's it's a smaller field, shorter mound distance and different bats, so we'll separate them out and...

Player of the Year: Asher Williams It was an incredible year for Williams that was rewarded with a trip to the 14U Select Fest, before some more impressive play in the fall. He came to the plate almost 250 times in PG tournaments throughout 2025 and reached base in well over half of them, hitting to a .500 AVG while slugging a 14U circuit best 12 bombs and driving in 113 runs. The numbers on the surface are ridiculous, but when you look at the high-level events he put them up in, it makes it even more impressive. Pitcher of the Year: Tristan Blalock Blalock earns this honor after a dominant 2025 where he struck out 85 batters in just 48.2 innings of work with a minuscule 1.58 ERA. This included several strong performances at many national level tournaments and showcases where he was able to bully some of the best hitters in the country. It’s hard not to fall in love with...

PG Draft: Gut Feel Guys

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
While we are nearing the turn of the calendar to the 2026 year, that means we are just inching closer to the beginning of the season for many high school players and college baseball is on the horizon. We are prepping for a reshuffle of the 2026 MLB Draft Board as well here amongst the PG Draft staff. But before we get to that, we sat down and have each picked a couple of players who are in the mix to get selected in a couple of different buckets.  We have prospects who could go into the Top 30 picks or so, prospects who could be selected in the Top 5 rounds, and prospects who could go inside of the Top 10 rounds. With the draft quite far down the road and a lot of re-shuffling to be done as these players play themselves into certain spots on the draft board, our scouts picked some players who fit into these “buckets” who are gut-feel guys. These are the guys that our PG...

Hitter of the Year: Landon Bonner The 2028 class saw many players from across the country take the next step in their development as they entered the High School ranks. There were huge performances from highly ranked players on the PG circuit as well as some under-the-radar guys who burst onto the scene. Landon Bonner came into Sophomore National as a Top 500 ranked player and after an impressive showing, left with all eyes on him as a rankings riser in the class. The left-handed hitting shortstop from The Colony, Texas, had a summer to remember with All-Tournament Team selections in three of his next four events culminating with a historic performance at the 2025 PG 15U WWBA National Championship. The Hebron High School prep went 20-for-24 in nine games for 5 Star Mafia 15U Black with four homeruns and 12 runs batted in. He also scored 17 runs and finished with a mind-boggling 2.500...

16u Tourney All-American Team

Hitter of the Year: Koa Romero is the Hitter of the Year for the 16u group, as he would come to every premier event of the summer and earn All-Tournament honors (Beast of the East, 16/17u WWBA, Jupiter) in every single one. Over 82 plate appearances, Romero would pump ten homeruns with forty two RBI and sixteen walks, good for a .378 average and 1.339 OPS. The performance on volume at the best events of the year pushed Romero over the edge here, as he’d hit a pair of homeruns in Jupiter (one of them at 112 EV) as an underclassmen and collect double digit hits in BOTH WWBA events with a combined six jacks over the two tournaments. It was a summer that combined performance and winning on the biggest stages for Romero. It’s a quiet left-handed swing that packs a punch. He would reap the benefits of his performances, earning a commitment to LSU and jumping to the #74 prospect in...

They dip into Mississippi to land one of the premier arms and one that’s stood out on the circuit for quite some time. It’s a fast arm and the athleticism certainly shines working down the slope. The velocity has continued to tick up over the last calendar year and reached into the low-90s towards the end of the summer. He’s confident in his changeup and the breaking ball is...

There’s a lot of talent throughout this 2026 class, filled with the big-name stars, to talent that spreads across the nation. It’s been a lot of fun seeing these prospects grow and develop over the years, from the days of watching some of these guys at the 13/14u days at events on the circuit, to now where they are all graduating seniors in 2026. There’s been new faces who have popped along the way over the years, even in 2026, where some players who were relatively undiscovered, have come out and made a name for themselves with a statement performance. Between the familiar and the new, there’s a lot of names on this list that are going to be quite regularly talked about on the circuit, and for good reason.  Whether it’s PG All-Americans or not, there’s a lot of names with superstar potential at the next level. We’ve got 14 PG All-Americans...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 | Class of 2027 | Class of 2028 These guys might just be entering high school, but they've certainly already made a name for themselves on the national circuit, especially with their abilities on the defensive side of things.  C: Xavier Rodriguez (Logansville, GA) Rodriguez is a polished defender with real arm strength behind the dish, while showcasing the ability to impact the baseball with authority to all fields evident by thirty of his sixty-five hits going for extra-bases including seven bombs. He handles high-level pitching extremely well, commands his staff and his offensive prowess makes him a true two-way asset. 1B: Cooper Knight (Buda, TX) Knight is a smooth operator at first base with plenty of range, fluidity and agility in his footwork around the bag. Add-in a rocket for an arm, the ability to change slots and to...

Scout Stories: Part 5

Best Game I Saw: The Dream NTL 18U vs. MBA Scout Team Murphy Jupiter always brings out the best, and we got fireworks from the jump. Turner Marshall gave The Dream an outstanding 4+ innings of work on the mound, holding a lethal MBA team at bay with Chance Dixon, Derrick Carter, and Ellis Appling providing an offensive spark out of the gate for the Georgia based boys. However, it was only a matter of time before the talent on the other side got going, as MBA erased a 3-run deficit in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead led by a Parker Loew HR. The Dream then took command again in the Top of the 6th, before MBA punched right back with a huge 5-run inning in the bottom half capped off by a clutch RBI single from Matthew Kerrigan, ending a wild sequence with tons of notable performances from two very competitive rosters. Best Tournament Performance I Saw: Surely someone has already brought this...
