Mason Russell is a 2024 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Queen Creek, AZ who attends Casteel. It’s a medium frame with lean athleticism and some room to add. Showed a fluid and easy operation. Side steps into a chest high knee tuck. Rotates fast as the lower half works slightly closed into landing with some uphill shoulders where his glove arm works up to where he slots which creates some deception. The arm action is longer out the glove and works continuous to a normal ¾ slot with some easy/above avg. armspeed. His fastball worked up to 93 showing some natural carry through the zone generating some in-zone whiff. Slider in the low-mid 80s flashed plus pitch characteristics with its high spin and sharp downer break producing some chase/whiff. Verbal commitment to Arizona.
