Right-handed pitcher Ryley MacEachern (2013, Salisbury School, Sangus, MA) pitched two innings and struck out the side in the 2nd inning, to help Texas Orange defeat Vegas Gold 2-0 in Game 18 of the National Showcase. MacEachern’s fastball ranged from 87-89 and peaked at 90 mph.
Right-hander Adam Jelovic (2013, Parkway West, Town and Country, MO) also pitched two innings for Texas Orange. Jelovic struck out two batters and his fastball ranged from 84-89mph.
Right-handed pitcher Andrew Kelley (2013, Klein, Spring, TX) pitched two innings in relief for Texas Orange. Kelley struck out the side in the 5th and his curveball, which ranged from 70-74 mph, has depth.
Righty Connor Heady (2013, North Oldham, Prospect, KY), a University of Kentucky commit, threw one inning for Texas Orange and was able to strike out two of the three batters that he faced. His ability to pitch downhill helped him retire the side without putting a batter on base.
Outfielder Hunter Mercado-Hood (2013, De La Salle, Brentwood, CA), a University of San Diego commit, hit a single for one of the three hits for Texas Orange.
Third base prospect Cavan Biggio (2013, St. Thomas, Houston,TX) hit a double for Texas Orange and was able to score for one of the two runs in the game.
Catcher Nick Ciuffo (2013, Lexington, Charleston, SC), a University of South Carolina commit, singled in the 8th inning.
Right handed pitcher Tyler Mahle (2013, Westminster, Westminster, CA) a UC-Santa Barbara commit, pitched the first three innings for Vegas Gold, striking out one and allowing only one base runner. Mahle used four different pitches to help him throw for strikes.
Lefty Joseph Palumbo (2013, St. John the Baptist, Holbrook, NY) pitched two innings for Vegas Gold. Palumbo threw three strikeouts and his smooth delivery helped him throw an 84-86 mph fastball and a good curveball, which topped out at 70 mph.
Right-hander Severiano Romo (2013, El Dorado, Fullerton, CA), a University of San Diego commit, pitched a perfect sixth inning for Vegas Gold. His fastball ranged from 84-86 mph.
Righty Cornell Nixon (2013, Lassiter, Marietta, GA), a Kennesaw State commit, threw a perfect seventh inning in relief for Vegas Gold. His fastball ranged from 85-87 mph.
Left handed pitcher Nicholas Banks (2013, Tomball, Tomball,TX), a Texas A&M University commit, pitched one inning in relief for Vegas Gold. He threw an 83-86 mph fastball and a curveball, which ranged from 67-71mph.
Outfielder Corey Dempster (2013, Loyola, South Pasadena, CA), a University of Southern California commit, reached base twice and got the only hit on a line drive single for Vegas Gold.
LHP Alex Hagner (Eustis HS, Mt. Dora, FL) was 85-87mph with it topping out at 88mph. Hagner has a quick projectable arm, and gets lots of depth on his 73mph curveball.
LHP Sean Brady (Ida S. Baker HS, Cape Coral, FL) was 87-89 on his fastball with an arm that works, pounds the zone, and repeats his delivery well.
LHP Nick Longhi (Venice HS, Venice, FL) was 85-86 on his inning of work on the mound. Longhi has a strong build, gets downhill, and has good arm strength.
RHP Brett Hanewich (IMG Academies HS, Bradenton, FL) was 89-91 on his fastball with it topping out at 92mph. Hanewich gets some late cut on his fastball, and has a 74mph curveball.
RHP Andrew Dunlap (Westbury Christian HS, Houston, TX) was 87-90 with his fastball topping out at 91mph. Dunlap has arm strength, with good depth on his 11-5 breaking curveball that is 76mph.
MIF Christian Arroyo (Hernando HS, Spring Hill, FL) had a couple of hits in the game for the gold team showing good plate coverage, while SS Jack Kruger (Oaks Christian HS, Calabasas, CA) and OF Corey Ray (Simeon Career Academy, Chicago, IL) each had an inside the park home run. Ray showed off his speed having a 4.31 Home to 1st time with a turn.
RHP Trevor Clifton (Heritage HS, Maryville, TN) was 88-90 with his fastball topping out at 91mph. Clifton has a large frame with a short arm action and a good changeup that is 77mph.
RHP Andy Honiotes (Geneva Community HS, Geneva, IL) was 87-89 and topping out at 91mph fastball. Honiotes has a projectable build, with an arm that works, and gets armside run on his fastball.
RHP Derik Beauprez (Cherry Creek HS, Greenwood Village,CO) was 89-91 on his fastball with it topping out at 93mph. Beauprez has an athletic build, has an easy arm that works, and gets good sink on his 78mph changeup.
C Michael Barash (West Boca HS, Boca Raton, FL) had 2 hits in the game for the green team showing off some of the pop in his bat with a double and triple. 3B Colby Barnette (Piedmont HS, Monroe, NC) had 2 hits in the game one of which was a double, OF Justin Williams (Terrebonne HS, Houma, LA) had 2 hits in the game as did SS Oscar Mercado (Gaither HS, Tampa, FL).
LHP Robert Kaminsky (St.Joseph Regional HS, Englewood Cliffs, NJ) turned up the heat, touching 94 MPHand sitting consistently between 90-93. Used his power arm and abusive stuffincluding his fastball, power curveball, and nasty change with run.
LHP Alexander Bostic (Weddington HS, Matthews, NC)sat 86-89 and hit 90 MPH on a good downhill plane from a 3/4 arm angle.
RHP Michael Westra (Brophy College Prep,Scottsdale, AZ) struck out a hitter and had a mid 80's fastball with alow 70's change up.
RHP Karl Blum (Toms River North, Toms River, NJ)used his simple delivery to consistently sit 86-89 and peak at 90 MPH. Threwhis curveball from proper slot with power at 75 MPH.
Outfielder Skye Overton (Johns Creek, Johns Creek,GA) had himself a double on a ball well struck to right center field.
Shortshtop Anthony Deckinger (Dowling Catholic,Windsor Heights, IA) had a sacrifice fly in his only plate appearance, butcrushed the ball with 90 MPH contact.
Catcher Adrian Chacon (Tampa Jesuit, Tampa, FL)contributed a single for Royal.
LHP John Kilichowski (Tampa Jesuit, Tampa, FL) hasa tall and project-able build, threw strikeouts, dominated and used hiscurveball well. He sat 85-88 with his fastball and had a mid 80's curveball.
RHP Zachary Houston (Poplarville, Poplarville, MS)was throwing 84-88 MPH with a good downhill angle.
RHP Chris Oakley (St. Augustine Prep, Egg HarborTwp, NJ) was hovering around 89-92 and peaked his velocity at 93 MPH. He struckout three guys in two innings of work, with a good 2-seam fastball and firmstuff.
LHP John Suskauer (Plant HS, Tampa, FL) wassitting mid 80's and cranked it up to 87 MPH.
Infielder Ryan Sullivan(Hopkington, Hopkington, MA) was 2-2 on the day, hitting the ball hard, upper80's off bat, with a single and double.
Outfielder MatthewMcPhearson (Riverdale Baptist, Columbia, MD) added a hit and then promptlystole second and third.
First Baseman ZachMichalski (Wesleyan Christian Academy, Belews Creek, NC) had a hit and a sac flywith balls coming 90 MPH off of his bat.
Infielder Danny Zardon(American Heritage, Pembroke Pines, FL) had a hit on solid right field contact.
Outfielder Keenan Innis(Blessed Trinity, Cumming, GA) had a nice full-extension diving catch in centerfield.
RHP Andy Ward (Oviedo HS, Oviedo, FL) was 82-87mph with good
arm speed, and has a strong lower half.
RHP Taylor Blatch (Jensen Beach HS, Stuart, FL) was 88-92mph
with a live arm, and has good life on his 84mph changeup.
RHP Brett Morales (King HS, Tampa, FL) was 90-92mph topping
out at 93mph on the mound. Morales has a live arm, and has good depth to his
11-5 curveball that was 76mph.
RHP Robert Plohr (CBC HS, O’Fallon, MO) was 83-87mph throws
on a sharp downhill plane, with an arm that works.
Catcher Francis Christy (Casa Grande HS, Petaluma, CA) had a
triple in his only at bat of the game. His triple was a line drive off the
baggie in right field.
RHP Griffin Irby (Mars Hill Bible School, Florence, AL) was
85-86 topping out at 87mph with a loose projectable arm, and gets good movement
on his pitches.
RHP Cheyne Bickel (Dwyer HS, North Palm Beach, FL) was 88-90
topping out at 91mph with an arm that works and is tough on right handed
RHP Alex Phillips (Central Heights HS, Nacogdoches, TX) was
85-88mph with his fastball. Bickel also uses a 12-6 overhand curveball with
tumble that was 75mph.
RHP Ian Hamilton (Skyview HS, Vancouver, WA) was 83-88mph
with good arm on the mound.
RHP Chris Rivera (El Dorado HS, Fullerton, CA) was 89-92mph
on the mound with a live arm and a 73mph curveball that he mixes in.
Catcher Andrew Dunlap (Westbury Christian, Houston, TX) and
MIF Dalton Dulin each had a double in the game for the green team with Dunlap
showing off the pop in his bat doubling off
the wall in Left Center at the Metrodome.
