2-Columbia Blue vs. 3-Gold

6/4/2017

John Kelly (2018, SS/RHP, Rutherford, NJ) impressed in his one inning to close it out for the Columbia Blue team, showing a loose and clean arm stroke that produced an upper-80s fastball and peaked at 89 mph. He also showed a short and tight slider at 79 mph.

Nick Estes (2019 RHP, Rahway, NJ) is a strong presence on the mound and uses his length to create nice extension out front, topping out at 85 mph early in his four-inning outing. His feel for the curveball developed and he struck out three on the afternoon.

Grant Shulman (2019 3B, Wall, NJ), a primary third baseman, topped out at 82 mph in his inning on the bump too, showing a quick arm and easy release. The lefthanded hitting Shulman also connected for a loud and hard hit triple to his pull side early in the contest.

Nicholas Barreiros (2020 C, Seaford, NY) showed an aggressive approach and was able to create solid contact in two of his at-bats, singling twice, once up the middle and once to the pull side.

Justin Caesar (2019 SS, Glen Burnie, MD) put together a solid performance on both sides of the ball. He generates oslid bat speed through the zone with quick hands and connected for some of the loudest contact on the day with a pair of loud doubles to the pull side. He also moves well at shortstop and shows nice carry and arm strength across the diamond.

Ryan Hynes (2020 LHP, Stony Brook, NY) and Cole Jarrett (2018 OF, Owings Mills, MD) both had a two-hit day, each picking up a couple of singles and both scored a run.

Matt D'Amato (2019 OF, Midland Park, NJ) swung the bat out of the gate, singling with a hard ground ball up the middle in his first at-bat before doubling to the right-center field gap with a solid piece off the barrel.


6-Orange vs. 8-Red

6/4/2017

Colin Macko (2018 1B, Mountain Top, PA)  Generated good down angle on his 80-84 MPH fastball. Recorded 2 K’s in his 2 innings of work. Curveball was a good swing and miss pitch that worked off a similar plane to his fastball.

Luke Pizzico (2019 3B, Ringoes, NJ)  The young right hander recorded 4 K’s in his two innings of work while facing the minimum. Used great command of his fastball, that topped at 81 MPH, to get ahead of hitters. Generated swings and misses with his sharp 12-6 breaking ball at 67-70 MPH. 

Mike Cilio (2019 SS, Chester, NJ) Kept hands inside the baseball well, driving a fastball in on the hands to the right-center field gap for a double. Found the barrel solidly in two plate appearances. 

Jake Packer (2018 C, Pringle, PA) Had a number of quality swings throughout the contest, leading to two quality at-bats - including a line drive base hit and run scored. Front shoulder stays squared and drives through the ball well.

Kevin Wessels (2018 OF, Kennett Square, PA) Balanced approach in this game overall. Stayed back well on a breaking ball to drive the other way for a base hit. Showed he has the ability to spray the ball to all fields.


10-Steel vs 11-White

6/4/2017

Matthew Milone (2020 OF, Farmingville, NY) Had a solid game overall, logging two hits, including a stolen base and run scored. Milone showed quality bat speed, up-the-middle approach, and the ability to square up balls.

Ricardo A Ruiz Irizarry (2018 3B, Ponce, PR) Featured a short, compact swing with quick hands – driving an 84 MPH fastball in on the hands the other way for a double. 

AJ Donofrio (2019 C, Far Hills, NJ) At catcher, Donofrio exhibits leadership attributes and the ability to call a solid game. At the plate, he is a strong lefty with the ability to work counts and drive the ball deep. Ball consistently finds the barrel with authority.  

Henry Williams (2019 RHP, Darien, CT)  Clean mechanics from his 6’4” athletic frame that allowed him to consistently work ahead of hitters using the bottom half of the strike zone with arm side run. Great command of his 82-85 MPH fastball. Showed a quality CB at 73-74 MPH with late break and ability to throw his changeup for strikes.


Purple Vs Maroon Game Highlights

Dylan Bedder (2019 RHP, Berkeley Heights, NJ) Generated good back spin off the barrel that produced solid carry to the left center field on a double in first at bat of the game. 

Patrick Desalvo (2019 SS, Tenafly, NJ) Showed very good plate presence with solid barrel control throughout the zone. Consistently squared up the baseball collecting two singles and scoring a run. 

Griffin Gonzales (2019 C, Highland Mills, NY) Flashed good bat speed with the ability to turn the barrel aggressively to contact, produced a hard hit down down the left field line driving in a runner. 

Carter Heller (2019 3B, Perkasie, PA) Stayed balanced and behind contact well with the ability to work the ball the other way. Drove in two runners hitting a pitch located on the outer half of the plate to the right center field gap. 

Matt Hartshorn (2019 RHP, Toms River, NJ) Showed good life with a fastball that have some heavy run in the low to mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. Also flashed solid depth with a curveball that had 11/5 shape. 

Tyler Joseph (2020 3B, Bloomsbury, NJ) Consistently located fastball to the bottom of the zone flashing occasional sink in the low 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. Aggressively attacked the zone early and often with fastball inducing weak contact. 

1-Black vs. 4-Green

6/4/2017

Robert Buecker (2019 MIF, Allentown, NJ) started the game for the Black team and impressed, running his fastball up to 87 mph with nice plane and life. He showed solid control and mixed in his off speed well while also connecting for a double at the dish.

TJ Scuderi (2018 OF, Beachwood, NJ) showed some two-way prowess of his own, living comfortably in the 83-86 mph range with solid plane to the lower third. He was able to consistently throw his curveball for strikes and squared up one of the harder hit balls on the day for a double to his pull side.

Bryant Skurbe (2020 OF, Monroe Township, NJ) had two hits on the afternoon, generating line drive contact off the barrel to the middle and opposite parts of the field. He shows an aggressive approach at the plate and solid footwork defensively.

Alex Diamantis (2018 OF, Staten Island, NY) continued to swing a hot stick and picked up three base hits on the day, all singles. After lining a pitch hard down the left field line in his first at-bat, he continued to show feel for the barrel working middle and pull parts of the field.

Joseph Gonzalez (2020 2B, Staten Island, NY) came around to score two runs and had two base hits on the morning, showing a short inside swing with ability to work the ball to right field.

Nic Adamo (2020 C, Paramus, NJ) showed a nice contact approach and picked up a single in each of his first two at-bats. He does a nice job of getting even with his lower half and works the pull side part of the field with a line drive plane. 


Maroon Vs Royal Game Highlights

6/4/2017

Wesley Pierorazio (2019 SS, Norwood, NJ) Showed good barrel control through the zone with present jump off the barrel. Doubled in first at bat of the game and scored the games first run.

Nicholas Rampone (2018 OF, Mendham, NJ) Consistently squared up contact throughout the game while collecting two hard base hits including a double in last at bat. 

Ruben Roman (2018 OF, Congers, NY) Showed good plate coverage with the ability to manipulate the barrel. Collected two hits in first at bats including a double. 

Will Findlay (2019 C, Ledgewood, NJ) Flashed present bat speed with strength at contact doubling hard in first at bat of the game. 

Christopher Sparber (2020 C, Lincroft, NJ) Showed a good combination of speed, barrel skills and knowledge for base running all in one inning. Led of the 5th inning with a lead off single, later stealing a bag and scoring on an infield ground out. 

Tommy DiTullio (2019 SS, Point Pleasant Boro, NJ) Very balanced approach at the plate with the ability to produce solid whip through the zone. Showed good patience as well throughout the day, singling in last at bat. 

Tyler Burchett (2018 RHP, Airville, PA) Showed a very heavy running fastball in the upper 80's to low 90's, topping at 91 miles per hour. Consistently over matched hitters with fastball while working to each edge of the plate. 

Kevin Karstetter (2020 SS, Port Matilda, PA) Repeated a simple leg lift delivery that produced occasional running action to arm side topping at 83miles per hour. Also maintained arm speed with a fading changeup that proved to be a deceptive pitch for hitter to recognize. Also showed good jump off the barrel at the plate producing a solid double in the 5th inning. 

5-Maroon vs. 6-Orange

6/3/2017

Michael McCluskey (2018 RHP, Onancock, VA) closed it out for the Maroon squad and showed an easy arm action that produced a steady fastball in the low-80s, peaking 82 mph. He was able to miss bats with his curveball, up to 74 mph, while showing a nice feel for the offering.

Nicholas Fraterrigo (2019 RHP, White Plains, NY) turned in a solid performance of his own for Maroon, living comfortably in the 80-83 mph range and bumped 84 early on. His release is very easy and he’s able to use his size well to generate nice plane while also flashing a sound changeup.

Luke Allain (2018 LHP, Pottstown, PA) punched out seven in his three innings of work and did so on the strength of his fastball. He topped out at 85 mph throughout and showed a quick arm which also produced a sharp curveball which he threw for strikes.

Ryan Toal (2018 RHP, Westfield, NJ) sat very comfortably in the 79-82 mph range for his four innings of work and filled up the strike zone. His heater showed some sinking life down and he did a nice job of mixing in both a curveball and changeup for strikes.

Adam Grintz was able to create solid plane on his fastball when he worked on top, showing an easy release which produced a fastball topping 83 mph. The pitch showed some cut action and he also mixed in a low-70s curveball for strikes.

Edwin Mendez (2018 C, Paterson, NJ) and Nick Morrison (2021 SS, Mechanicsburg, PA) both singled and scored a run for the Maroon squad on the afternoon. Mendez connected for a solid single to the opposite field and Morrison followed suit with his own line drive to right field.

Matt Hartshorn (2019 RHP, Toms River, NJ) might be listed as a primary pitcher but he led the team with two base knocks, picking up an infield single to go with his solidly hit double to right-center field.

Jesse Cooper-Leary (2019 OF, Bronx, NY) also had a two-hit game for the opposing Orange squad, singling and doubling in his first two trips on the day. He singled through the 3-4 hole with a line drive before working the middle of the field.

Kevin Wessels (2018 OF, Kennett Square, PA) picked up the only triple of the game and did so in the ninth inning. He shows an aggressive approach and connected for a hard and loud three-bagger to right-center field.

Before doubling in his final at-bat of the game to right field, David Williams (2018 1B, East Stroudsburg, PA) made one of the better defensive plays of the game with a nice diving play to his right off the first base bag to snag what would have been a single and a well struck ground ball. 


Batting Practice Highlights

6/3/2017

Robert Buecker (2019 MIF, Allentown, NJ) Launched to contact with linear actions producing hard rising line drives between the gaps throughout batting practice. 

Andrew Chi (2018 SS, Closter, NJ) Primarily utilized a mid field approach, but also flashed the ability to turn the barrel to contact and work to pull side with authority. 

Alex Diamantis (2018 OF, Staten Island, NY) Stayed very balanced throughout his swing repeating a simple line drive path and plane through extension. Consistently barreled the baseball with the ability to work to each gap. 

James McKenna (2019 OF, Longhill, NJ) Creates coil with front side at load that produced good bat speed through the hitting zone when on time. Generated good back spin off the barrel to the pull side gap. 

Matt D'Amato (2019 OF, Midland Park, NJ) Flashed very quick hands through extension on a naturally leveraged plane. Shows the present bat speed and strength to drive pitches through the gaps. 

Steven Nitch (2019 C, Woodland Park, NJ) Consistently drove the ball throughout batting practice with good jump off the barrel on a loose, lifted swing plane. 

Grant Shulman (2019 3B, Wall, NJ) Repeated a direct path to contact with natural leverage through the zone. Attacked the baseball with intent to drive it through the gaps, but also showed the barrel control to work the other way. 

Armando Alvarez (2019 1B, River Vale, NJ) Worked to contact with rotational actions generating a repeatable swing plane with present bat speed. Alvarez consistently produced hard contact with the ability to turn the barrel aggressively. 

David Howarth (2019 C, Wall, NJ) Primarily worked to the middle of the field on a loose, uphill plane through extension. Showed present bat speed with solid strength at contact that created good jump off the barrel. 

TJ Scuderi (2018 OF, Beachwood, NJ)  Produced very hard, loud contact off the barrel in batting practice. Showed the ability to drop the barrel head to pitches located down in the zone and drive them with authority between the gaps. 

Tyler Joseph (2020 3B, Bloomsbury, NJ) Created good lower half shift into contact with a naturally leveraged swing plane through extension. Baseball jumped off the barrel well throughout batting practice producing good back spin off with carry off the barrel. 

Max Dineen (2018 OF, Pennsville, NJ) Showed very good feel for the barrel with the ability to work to all fields. Also showed present bat speed with the strength to drive the baseball with authority. 

Christian Pierre (2018 OF, Maplewood, NJ) Flashed very quick hands while working to the baseball on a smooth line drive plane through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field also showed the raw bat speed to drive the ball to the pull side gap. 

Colin Macko (2018 1B, Mountain Top, PA) Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice on a linear swing plane that flashed occasional leverage through extension. 

Ohjiro Motoki (2019 RHP, Cresskill, NJ) Showed present bat speed and strength while at the plate and utilized a gap to gap approach. Barrel came through the zone with natural lifted generating good carry off the barrel. 

Shane Harkins (2020 C, North Wales, PA) Stayed behind baseball well with good strength at contact that produced solid jump off the barrel. Stayed balanced throughout showing rotational lower half actions to the baseball.
 
AJ Donofrio (2019 C, Far Hills, NJ) Showed good present strength at contact on a naturally lifted plane through extension. Generated loud contact off the barrel creating good carry to the gap. 

Tyler Burchett (2018 RHP, Airville, PA) Showed solid feel for the barrel with very good present bat speed through extension. Generated good barrel whip that produced loud, hard contact consistently.  

9-Royal vs. 10-Steel

6/3/2017

Cam Burris (2020 RHP, Bellefonte, PA) showed a quick right arm on the mound and came out attacking with his fastball, topping as high as 84 mph. He developed a nice feel for his short and tight breaking ball, still showing the same short and quick arm stroke.

Billy O’Brien has a highly projectable frame but already showed one of the better fastballs on the day, topping out at 85 mph. He maintained his velocity well with a quick arm stroke and a higher slot release while showing bite to his curveball in the upper-60s.

Mike Lennahan was able to create some tough angle to his fastball, which topped out at 81 mph, especially when locating in on righthanded hitters. He struck out five in two innings, missing bats with his fastball.

Nicholas Crowley (2018 2B, Staten Island, NY) enjoyed a two-hit day at the plate for Steel, twice singling to the pull side, showing nice life off the barrel.

A primary pitcher, Henry Williams (2019 RHP, Darien, CT) has a long and projectable build and connected for a double to right field with a solid line drive piece in his final at-bat.

Speaking of extra-base hits, Colin Cummins (2018 2B, Laurel Springs, NJ) collected one of his own in his first at-bat of the day, connecting for a solid piece to the opposite field gap for three bases.

Both Connor Carey (2018 3B, Monroe Township, NJ), who came around to score twice, and Kevin Karstetter (2020 SS, Port Matilda, PA) each had a single and a double helping to pace the offense. Carey worked both lines while Karstetter showed solid bat speed on his double to the opposite field. 


11-White vs 12-Maroon

6/3/2017

AJ Donofrio (2019 C, Far Hills, NJ) Impressive at the plate, Donofrio went 2 for 2 in today’s matchup and showed solid extension in his swing, as well as gap power. Turning on fastballs from both a right handed pitcher and south-paw, he evidenced his ability to find the barrel on pitches from a variety of angles. 

Nicholas Rampone (2018 OF, Mendham, NJ) Not afraid to crowd the plate, Rampone flashed a compact, repeatable swing to barrel line drives to the center of the field in all of his appearances. Coupled with his solid swing, he showed explosive speed out of the box – an arsenal that made it difficult for opposing pitchers. 

Matthew Lenczewski (2018 RHP, Southbury, CT) Hitting: Going 3 for 3 with a double, RBI, and run scored in today’s square off, Lenczewski sprayed line drives in all of his appearances. He showed the ability to use his lower half to generate bat speed and drive through balls with authority. Pitching: Used a deceptive motion from his 6’2” frame that created good down angle on his fastball, and a good breaking ball to record 6 K’s over 3 innings of work. Showed a fastball that topped out at 81 MPH and a 12-6 breaking ball in the 63-66 MPH range.

Patrick Sudnikovich (2018 LHP, Mendham, NJ) Faced two hitters above the minimum over his 4 innings of work. Consistently pitched in the bottom half of the zone with his fastball that topped at 84 MPH. Breaking ball had tight spin and late break at 72-74 MPH, inducing several swings and misses. Has opportunity to be an above average pitch.

Michael Carlone (2019 RHP, Westfield, NJ) Showed above average command of the strike zone his entire outing. Worked ahead of hitters with his fastball topping out at 81 MPH. Induce several ground balls early in counts and recorded 2 of his strikeouts on quality two strike breaking balls when ahead in the count.


Red Vs Purple Game Highlights

6/3/2017

Dylan Bedder (2019 RHP, Berkeley Heights, NJ) Showed an easy, repeatable high three-quarters arm slot that produced good downhill angle through the zone topping at 81 miles per hour.

Max Helman (2018 RHP, Wilton, CT) Flashed a live, loose arm from a three-quarters slot that produced an electric fastball with heavy run in the low to mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. 

Matt Gluck (2020 2B, Califon, NJ) Utilized a very mature approach at the plate while swinging with intent to drive the ball with authority. Collected a very hard hit line drive single to left field over third baseman's head. 

Christian Pierre (2018 OF, Maplewood, NJ) Flashed good bat speed through the zone with the ability to turn barrel to contact on pitches located inner half. Drove a deep ground rule double down the right field line in second at bat of the day. 

Charlie Cucchiara (2019 RHP, East Meadow, NY) Attacked the zone early in counts with a running fastball that topped at 80 miles per hour. Consistently kept hitter off balance with a 9/4 curveball and fading change, each having similar arm actions at release. 

Jack Rajkowski (2018 RHP, North Haledon, NJ) Showed good feel for fastball with the ability to command the outer edge of the plate. Fastball jumped out of hand well with occasional arm side run topping at 82 miles per hour. 

Mike Cilio (2019 SS, Chester, NJ) Flashed very quick hands at the plate with a line drive swing plane through extension. Consistently delivered barrel to baseball throughout the day, resulting in a hard hit single to left field during game play. 

Ohjiro Motoki (2019 RHP, Cresskill, NJ) Over powered hitters with a heavy running fastball that topped at 86 miles per hour. Kept hitter of balance with an 11/5 curveball that had late bit with good swing and miss potential.

3-Gold vs 4-Green Game Highlights

Justin Byler (2018 1B, Lititz, PA) Created great down angle from his 6’4” frame on fastball which topped at 82 MPH. Strong command of a Fastball-Curveball mix. Showed ability to throw curveball in all counts which resulted in facing the minimum through 2 innings with 4 K’s.

Cole Jarrett (2018 OF, Owings Mills, MD) Flashed excellent speed, as well as aggression on the base paths, legging what appeared to be a sure single into a double in the 2nd, as well as presenting first-step quickness while logging a stolen base in a later inning. 

John Curran (2018 RHP, Cranford, NJ) Kept hitters off balance for 4 innings using all 3 pitches (FB, CB, CH) in his arsenal. Had a quiet, consistent motion which allowed him work ahead hitters repeatedly with his fastball at 78-81 MPH. Finished with 7 K’s over his 4 innings of work.

Justin Caesar (2019 SS, Glen Burnie, MD) Showed soft hands, sound mechanics, and mature footwork at short stop. Caesar also generated offense by turning on a fastball on the inner-half for a double.

Ryan Hynes (2020 LHP, Stony Brook, NY) Showed ability to get swing and misses on his Fastball and Changeup. Generated good arm side run on his fastball topping out at 78 MPH from his high ¾ arm slot. Changeup has ability to become a quality secondary pitch.

Stanton Leuthner (2019 SS, Summit, NJ) Impressive at the plate, reaching base three times and recording two-RBI’s in his campaign. Leuther further showed the ability to generate bat speed and drive the ball to the center of the diamond with authority.

Jacob Denner (2019 LHP, Closter, NJ) made quick work of his three innings on the mound, living in the low-80s and topping out at 82 mph. he delivery offers plenty of balance and he repeats it well, showing the ability to sequence in his curveball for strikes and live down at the knees.

Hutch Gagnon (2018 LHP, Downingtown, PA) is already committed to Penn State and showed a quick left arm to produce a fastball that topped out at 87 mph. He lived comfortably in the mid-80s throughout his time on the bump and flashed nice depth on his curveball with 1-7 shape at 71 mph.

Zach Smith (2018 1B, Jeffersonton, VA) connected for a solid piece in his first trip, shooting an 85 mph fastball back up the middle for a hard line drive single.

Luke Smith (2018 RHP, Delran, NJ) connected for a loud double in his second at-bat, showing both physical strength and intent in his swing as he picked up a double deep towards the left field fence. Smith, a primary pitcher, then jump on the mound and ran his fastball up to 87 mph and showed the feel to mix four pitches for strikes, including a hard slider in the upper-70s.

Alex Diamantis (2018 OF, Staten Island, NY) jumped all over a curveball early in the count and smoked it to the left-center field gap for a double, showing bat speed through the zone. Later in the game he doubled again, this time down the right field line past the glove of the outstretched right fielder.

Alexander Antigua (2019 1B, North Brunswick, NJ) showed off some of his strength at the plate, hitting a ball high into the sky and deep to center field. Though it fell inside the fence line he managed to round the bases and touch them all for an in the park home run.

Nick Bellezza (2020 SS, Yardley, PA) had a two hit day, picking up two singles in each of his first two at-bats, using both the middle and opposite parts of the field.

Robert Buecker (2019 MIF, Allentown, NJ) found the barrel throughout the day, squaring the ball up for three base hits while showing nice intent and bat speed through the zone.
