Michael McCluskey (2018 RHP, Onancock, VA) closed it out for the Maroon squad and showed an easy arm action that produced a steady fastball in the low-80s, peaking 82 mph. He was able to miss bats with his curveball, up to 74 mph, while showing a nice feel for the offering.
Nicholas Fraterrigo (2019 RHP, White Plains, NY) turned in a solid performance of his own for Maroon, living comfortably in the 80-83 mph range and bumped 84 early on. His release is very easy and he’s able to use his size well to generate nice plane while also flashing a sound changeup.
Luke Allain (2018 LHP, Pottstown, PA) punched out seven in his three innings of work and did so on the strength of his fastball. He topped out at 85 mph throughout and showed a quick arm which also produced a sharp curveball which he threw for strikes.
Ryan Toal (2018 RHP, Westfield, NJ) sat very comfortably in the 79-82 mph range for his four innings of work and filled up the strike zone. His heater showed some sinking life down and he did a nice job of mixing in both a curveball and changeup for strikes.
Adam Grintz was able to create solid plane on his fastball when he worked on top, showing an easy release which produced a fastball topping 83 mph. The pitch showed some cut action and he also mixed in a low-70s curveball for strikes.
Edwin Mendez (2018 C, Paterson, NJ) and Nick Morrison (2021 SS, Mechanicsburg, PA) both singled and scored a run for the Maroon squad on the afternoon. Mendez connected for a solid single to the opposite field and Morrison followed suit with his own line drive to right field.
Matt Hartshorn (2019 RHP, Toms River, NJ) might be listed as a primary pitcher but he led the team with two base knocks, picking up an infield single to go with his solidly hit double to right-center field.
Jesse Cooper-Leary (2019 OF, Bronx, NY) also had a two-hit game for the opposing Orange squad, singling and doubling in his first two trips on the day. He singled through the 3-4 hole with a line drive before working the middle of the field.
Kevin Wessels (2018 OF, Kennett Square, PA) picked up the only triple of the game and did so in the ninth inning. He shows an aggressive approach and connected for a hard and loud three-bagger to right-center field.
Before doubling in his final at-bat of the game to right field, David Williams (2018 1B, East Stroudsburg, PA) made one of the better defensive plays of the game with a nice diving play to his right off the first base bag to snag what would have been a single and a well struck ground ball.
