Matthew McIntyre is a 2019 OF/LHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Westfield, NJ who attends Westfield. Medium frame with an athletic build and wiry strength. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.71 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with aggressive, athletic footwork while moving into the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and generated good momentum to the bag with a crow hop. Quick exchanges and released from a loose three-quarters arm slot generating solid carry to the bag, topped at 78 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance an high back elbow set. Strides back to an even position with a simple front side trigger. Creates some shift into contact with lower half while hand launch on a loose path to baseball. Barrel comes through the zone on a slightly uphill plane with occasional bat speed through extension. Looked to attack the baseball out front and generated some jump off the barrel with carry to the gap when on time and squared. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Rocks onto back side at comes to gather at a slightly flexed position. Works to the plate with drop and drive actions and carries momentum through finish. Tends to land at a slightly closed front side position creating some cross fire at release. Medium arm circle and released form a three-quarters slot. Fastball had occasional running action to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Also showed a changeup offering with some cut to glove side in the upper 60's. Looked to challenge hitters and consistently filled the zone with both pitches. Very good student as well.
