South V. California Game Highlights

10/18/2025

Carter Hughes (2029 RHP, Peoria, AZ) quick arm and a potent mix for grade. Low-80s and landed a short lateral slider at will. Plays to the corners well and it comes out of the same tunnel.

James Amante (2029 LHP, Orange, CA) now showing out with the bat, a clean knock to right for a knock. Pretty left handed swing that can whip the barrel a bit, turns it over with intent and only starting to grow into his power.

Kane Bartley (2028 RHP, El Cajon, CA) solid two-way showing and was up to 83 mph off the bump. Can spin it a good bit and the fastball plays to both sides. There's a good bit to like with the bat as well with quick hands and looseness to stay inside and through.

EJ Lord (2028 OF, Scottsdale, AZ) solid arm talent into the low-80s and can spin it too. Good mover that should only mature, promising two-way talent all over.

David Delgado (2028 SS, Santa Paula, CA) has a ton to like on the bump long term. Low-80s with some jump out of hand and can spin a quality breaking ball already. Very good mover for age with chance to mature into much more.

Game 1: 13-Georgia v. 14-West

RJ Westbrook (2029, Marietta, Ga.) toed the slab for Team Georgia and worked up to 79 mph on the fastball, with really good feel to land the pitch for strikes and command the zone. Even more notably, his slider worked 68-72 mph with true sweeper traits, showing good horizontal and some tilt to it. It spun into the 2200s and flashed really good traits. Westbrook threw 3.0 innings and punched out 5 opposing hitters, allowing 3 hits.

Sean Farley (2029, Campbell, Calif.) looked the part in his outing on the mound. He worked the mid-70s on the fastball, with some late run to it. He showed a big 1-7 shaped breaking ball, with feel to land it. He also turned over a couple of good changeups in the upper-60s. The pitches had good depth to it. It was a quality 3-pitch mix that allowed him to navigate through 3.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit, with a pair of punchouts to his credit.

Charlie Jones (2028, Atlanta, Ga.) hammered a double working to left field. He got the hands to one and lifted it backside, plating a run as he hustled out the extra-base hit. Good lefty stroke with some feel to impact it and lift it.

Noah Patenaude (2029, San Diego, Calif.) stepped on one and drove the baseball into right-center. He took the hands to one and hammered it into right-center, hustling out a double and plating a run.

Ethan Pepper (2029, Spanish Fork, Utah) added a double and advanced to third on an errant throw in, plating a run. He showed off the strength as he was able to get the barrel on one and drive it into left-center for a pull-side extra-base hit.

Cayden Mader (2028, Grayson, Ga.) had a really good relief outing on the mound. He worked 79-82 mph on the fastball in relief and was able to spot it up well for strikes. He also flipped the occasional breaking ball with 11-5 shape and depth to it, and turned over a couple of changeups. He worked 2.0 innings of scoreless, hitless work, with 2 punchouts.

Game 2: 14-West v. 15-Northeast

Ethan Pepper (2029, Spanish Fork, Utah) added a base knock in his second game of the day. His second hit of the day came on a hard-hit grounder through the 6-hole, which kept the inning alive and advanced the runner to third.

Andray Lemay (2029, Lowell, Mass.) got things going for Team Northeast with a good swing from the right side. He showed a quick barrel and was on time to ambush the fastball and drive it back up the middle into centerfield. Picked up a base knock on the swing.

Xavier Micheli (2028, Massapequa, N.Y.) added a base knock working to left field and plated a run for his team, keeping the second-inning rally going. It was a good piece of hitting from the right-hander who stayed on the barrel and collected a knock.

Mark Kenton (2029, Sturbridge, Mass.) stayed on time for one and lined it into centerfield for a base hit, keeping the rally going, extending the Team Northeast lead, and plating 2 more runs. He also worked up to 80 mph on the fastball in his relief outing, with feel for a breaker and changeup. Threw up a clean inning of relief work.

Ben Pruitt (2029, South Grafton, Mass.) turned on the first pitch he saw and cranked a double. He was able to belt it into the gap and hustle all the way to second with an easy double. Good swing from the righty who also worked the mid-70s on the mound.

Ashton Cortorreal (2028, Methuen, Mass.) jumped on a pitch early in the count and belted it, working pull-side into right field. He hammered the pitch and was able to leg out an RBI triple as he worked on the barrel and got it done in the box.

Game 3: 16-Ohio Valley v. 13-Georgia

Dyson Sparks (2029, Acworth, Ga.) turned on a pitch and lifted one deep to left field, nearly got all of it, smacked it off the literal top of the fence, and cruised into third base with a leadoff triple. Really good show of strength from the right-handed bat; he had a hit earlier in Game 1.

Charlie Jones (2028, Atlanta, Ga.) got it done at the plate in Game 1 and was able to get it done on the mound in Game 2 of the day. He worked the upper-70s on the fastball, with good feel to locate the pitch to both halves of the zone, with some life to it. He flashed a mid- to upper-60s changeup, killing spin on it well. Jones threw 3.0 innings, allowing just 2 hits, striking out 5 opposing hitters along the way.

Brock Zerman (2029, Mount Gilead, Ohio) stayed on time for the fastball and was able to float one into right field, sneaking it inside fair territory for a base hit. Simple stroke with feel to throw the barrel and come up with a hit.

Leonardo Montoya Lopez (2028, Chicago, Ill.) turned on a pitch and was able to belt it into left field. Good strength off of it, with the feel to elevate the barrel and be on time. Picked up the extra-base hit and advanced the runner to third.

Jax Campbell (2029, Lagrange, Ga.) hammered a double into left-center to lead off the bottom half of the third. He put a charge into one and was able to leg out the extra-base hit on a ball that one-hopped off the wall. Good strength as he found the barrel and impacted it well.

Luka Kortava (2029, Braselton, Ga.) turned on a fastball, driving it over the shortstop’s head into left-center for a hard-hit base knock. He took the hands to it and drove it well, picking up a base knock after the leadoff double from Campbell.

Noah Correa (2028, Chicago, Ill.) worked the low-80s on the fastball with good carry and life to the pitch. He reached back to grab 85 mph on the heater. He flipped a couple of curveballs, with 11-5 shape and depth to them in the upper-60s. He commanded the zone and put together a good outing in relief.

Benjamin Taylor (2029, Watkinsville, Ga.) picked up a double on a well-struck line drive into left field. He was able to throw the barrel head, connect out in front, and hammer one into the gap. Watched it roll to the wall and hustled out the extra-base hit.

Gavin Weston (2028, Hampshire, Ill.) caught a barrel and drove it deep to centerfield, legging out a double. Put a charge into it and burned the centerfielder, driving it deep to the center/left center area of the outfield.

RJ Westbrook (2029, Marietta, Ga.) got it done on the mound in Game 1, and came back in Game 2 with a nice swing from the left side. He took the barrel to it and drove the ball well into left-center field, hustling out a double. Quick hands allowed him to catch the barrel and drive it well.

Game 4: 15-Northeast v. 16- Ohio Valley

Franco Calaf (2028, East Elmhurst, N.Y.) worked the upper-70s on the fastball from a really tough low slot, nearly sidearm. He flashed tons of sink and run on the heater working arm-side. He also flipped a frisbee slider in the mid-60s, with good tilt and plenty of sweep to it. He turned over a harder changeup at 72 mph as well. Calaf threw an inning with a punchout. He also added a line drive base knock back up the middle into centerfield later on.

Lincoln Fournier (2028, Milford, Mass.) worked 81-84 mph on the fastball with a really loose and whippy arm action working through it. He also showed an innate feel to spin a high-tilt slider, getting above 2,500 RPMs on it in the low-70s. Fournier battled around some baserunners but showed plenty of arm talent.  He followed up this outing on the mound by mashing a home run deep to left-center field the next half-inning. Really nice swing from the RHH.

Jon Doogs (2029, Oswego, Ill.) added a base knock working into right field. It was a nice piece of opposite-field hitting, where he threw the barrel to one and was able to connect, working backside to pick up a single.
