Alex Freeland (2020 SS, Cape Coral, FL) is more of a game hitter than a BP
hitter but the switch-hitting All-American still showed his strong and crisp
swing Saturday morning, especially from his stronger left side.
Kyle Hannon (2020 2B, Etters, PA) is a strong bodied middle infielder with a
Penn State commitment who uses his lower half very well to generate left-handed
bat speed. He has an accurate barrel and showed pop and carry to both
gaps.
Bryan Loriga (2021 3B, Hialeah, FL) is fun to watch swing as he has such and
easy and seemingly effortless right-handed swing, yet creates outstanding bat
speed with serious jump off the barrel. The FIU commit exudes confidence
at the plate.
Keenan Taylor (2020 SS, Westfield, IN) has more strength than his listed
5-10/180 size indicates. He has very quick hands and takes a full
aggressive swing, creating big raw bat speed and impressive carry and power.
Dillon Walters (2020 3B, Key Largo, FL) has a long and strong 6-3/195 build
that is built for power and leverage. He has plenty of uphill angle in
his swing and put the ball deep in the air consistently, including for one long
home run.
Chase Jans (2021 OF, Overland Park, KS) is an outstanding all-around athlete
with a plus combination of quick twitch muscles and physical strength. He
also has that enviable combination of bat speed and a very accurate barrel and
crushed hard line drive after hard line drive during his round.
Sterlin Thompson (2020 SS, Ocala, FL) may have had the most visually
appealing swing we saw all day, with his left-handed cut being smooth, well
timed and fast. He hit consistent rockets to the pull side all round and
could be a fast riser for the draft this spring.
Manuel Beltre (2022 SS, Santo Domingo, SD) is one of the top international
prospects leading up to the July 2, 2020 signing date and his big improvement
with his strength and bat speed portends big things for the young Dominican in
a few months.
Duanne Medina (2020 C, Miami, FL) is a strong 6-0/195 right-handed hitter
with a very simple and repeatable swing and plenty of raw bat speed. It
was especially impressive how much carry he got when he drove the ball to the
right centerfield gap.
Andre Vidal (2021 SS, Miami, FL) is a teammate of Medina's at Doral Academy
and the young middle infielder has offensive potential as well. He has
quick hands from a short swing and showed surprising pull power for his slender
and projectable 5-11/165 build.
Ivan Zambrano (2020 OF, Doral, FL) is yet a third Doral Academy right-handed
hitter who showed his tools well, showing a similarly simple and well timed
swing with lots of bat speed, lift and carry to the pull side.
Adrian Figueroa (2020 1B, Miami, FL) is the fourth straight Doral Academy
player we're going to mention, although a different hitter entirely than his
trio of teammates. The 6-6/225 left-handed hitter has really made
improvements in his swing to take advantage of his size, leverage and strength.
Victor Rodriguez (2021 OF, Winter Springs, FL) is a 6-4/185 right-handed
hitter with top of the scale raw power and equally impressive overall
athleticism. He's a name fans and scouts are going to be hearing often in
the next few years.
Brock Wilken (2020 3B, Valrico, FL) has a big 6-4/217 build and a controlled
tall and fall approach that gives him big momentum into contact. He
showed his raw power extremely well and made the huge Terry Park Stadium
dimensions look small on one swing.
Wyatt Langford (2020 3B, Trenton, FL) has a Florida commitment based on his
bat and he might have a place in the Gator lineup as a freshman if his bat
speed and ability to square up the ball he showed Saturday is any
indication. He really attacks the ball hard with outstanding timing in
his swing.
John Montes (2020 SS, Toa Alta, PR) has always impressed the Perfect Game
staff with his smooth left handed swing and it looks like the Central Florida
commit has gained some strength over the last six months and added some pull
power to his swing.
Abimelec Ortiz (2020 OF, Vega Baja, PR) looks bigger and stronger than his
listed 6-0/205 size and takes the full and aggressive left-handed swing that
one likes to see in a big, loose hitter. He showed power to all fields and
carried that approach into games very well, too.
Gilberto Torres (2020 OF, Salinas, PR) has very fast hands from the right
side of the plate and when he gets his front foot down on time and hits out
front, that ball comes off his barrel very hard.
Austin Alexander (2020 SS, Miami, FL) is another young right-handed hitter
with serious bat speed who flashed his potential when he was able to get his
front foot down on time. His aggressiveness really stood out.
Harold Coll (2020 SS, Statesboro, GA) moves into contact very well and uses
quick hands to help him generate plus bat speed. He hits under control
with very well-timed explosion at contact and drove the ball long and hard to
left centerfield consistently.
Gage Boehm (2020 1B, Taylor, TX)j is a seriously big and strong young Texan
at 6-5/250 with an easy and simple swing that maximizes squared up
contact. His swing is pretty flat right now and just a bit more lift in
it is going to create some big power numbers given his strength and bat speed.
Gabriel Sepulveda (2020 3B, Conroe, TX) is a switch-hitter who did something
the PG staff had never seen before. He took his standard six swings from
the right side, showing very good raw bat speed and strength. He turned
around for his left-handed swings but took only five, switching around on the
final pitch to hit right handed again. He then blasted a long home run to
finish his round.
