In a friendly matchup between the 6-4-3 Dp Cougars 17u and 18u teams, Danny Praglo’s 17u Cougars came out on top with a 7-3 win to clinch the 18u Championship title. 



“Everything we talk about early on is about trying to challenge ourselves because it's all about getting ready for what's coming, " Cougars' 17u head coach Praglo said. “It's more about preparing, trying to see as many good pitchers as possible for our hitters, and then of course for our pitchers to face as many good hitters.” 

Tennessee commit Levi Clark, catcher from the class of 2024 and Noah Harkins, RHP from the class of 2023 and future Young Harris College baseball player, received the MVP and MV-Pitcher of the tournament, respectively.  

“Levi, who received the MVP, I think set the tone offensively early on,” Praglo said.  

Leading off the bottom of the seventh Clark went long, sending an 83 MPH fastball over the outfield fence solidifying the 17u Cougars win. 


Another notable offensive player for the 17u Cougars was Conlon Walker, going 2-3 on the afternoon, with one RBI, scoring 2 runs, and hitting .545 through the 5 games this tournament. 


All Astros Title Game, Co-Champs Crowned

The 17u championship was co-champions crowned as the title game pitted the East Cobb Astros 16u against the East Cobb Astros 17u, securing yet another title for one of the more decorated travel ball programs. 

After winning both of their first two games on the weekend by a combined five runs, the 17u Astros' offense woke up and broke out in a big way with a 12-0 victory to wrap up pool play prior to their 11-7 victory in the semi-finals over the 5 Star National 17u Gold club. The middle of the order proved to be potent once again as the 3 and 4 hole hitters, Connor Shouse (who was also up to 94 mph on the mound) and Ira Jeffries Harris, combined for 7 of the team's 11 runs while Shouse, Paul Green and Amari Jefferson all recorded multi-hit games. After falling behind as many as five runs, the Astros were able to capitalize as they score 9 unanswered runs between the 5th and 6th innings while picking up two scoreless frame from Jack Meyers out of the bullpen. 

The East Cobb Astros 16u club simply never stopped hitting from the onset of the tournament, outscoring their opponents 34-8 over 3 pool play games before winning their first playoff game 4-0 over the TG Dbacks. Similarly to the 17u club, they faces off against a member of the 5 Star organization in their semi-final game against 5 Star National 17u Black where they needed to play 9 innings to determine a winner, finally plating 5 runs in the top of the ninth after tying things up in the 7th with a two-spot. Josh Gibbs helped pace the offense with a pair of doubles and ultimately took home MVP honors while both Maddox Monsour and Mercer Hudson drove in a combined 6 runs. The MV-Pitcher of the event, Nolan Bernard, got the start and went 4 innings of one-run baseball in which he struck out 5 before turning things over to Hunter Atkins who finished the job with 5 innings of his own, racking up 6 strikeouts while also surrounding just a lone run. 

6-4-3 Offense Explodes in Run Rule Championship Game

In a five inning game, the 6-4-3 Dp Cougars 16u shut out the Devine Baseball 16u team 8-0.  Peyton Robidux started on the mound for the Cougars pitching four innings. The righty struck out five and allowed no hits. Alex Lupinski entered the  game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief, striking out one and walking another in one inning pitched.  

As far as Cougars batting goes, the team had seven hits on the afternoon coming from Carson Zagryn, who went 2-for-3, Grayson McCollum, Isander Poventud, Davis Beilstein, Joe Montembeau, and Carson Vick.  

DP Cougars Stay Hot, Claim 3rd Title on Weekend
In the 15u championship, the 6-4-3 Dp Cougars 15u faced off against the Atl Lightning 15u squad. The Cougars clinched the win with an 11-2 victory in just 6.5 innings. With 11 runs and 10 hits, there is no doubt the Cougar’s offense was on fire. Caden Lenzi went 2-for-3, doubling twice, once to left field and once to center, scoring three of his teammates. Alex Thompson and Carson Adomnik also went 2-for-3 for the Cougars combining for 5 RBIs, almost half of the runs scored by the Cougars. Jack Richerson started on the mound for the Cougars, earning the win, striking out five and allowing no walks.  

Artillery Wins Thriller in 14u
Similar to the 13u matchup, the 14u Championship was a close one all game. In a 2-1 win, the Artillery Baseball 2027 Scout defeated the East Side Aces. Ethan Gilchrist started on the mound for Artillery Baseball, pitching for 5.1 innings, striking out three. Blake Lundy of Artillery Baseball went 2-for-3 at the plate, and in his second at-bat he hit a line drive single to left field, driving in Will Swisher for one of the team’s two runs. Joshua Alequin scored the Aces’ only run of the afternoon off of an RBI sacrifice single from Cooper Patterson in the top of the second. 

Smartense Stands Tall in 13u
Team Elite 13u National and Smartense 13u The Show battled it out Sunday afternoon in the 13u Championship game. In a nail-biter, Smartense was able to walk away with a 9-8 win to clinch the title.  

Both teams attacked at the plate all afternoon, combining for 17 hits. Liam Collier of Smartense went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Smartense started things off by scoring four runs in the first two innings. Collier, Rylan Jenkins, and Winston Morris all had RBIs in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs. Team Elite answered back, with three runs scored in the top of the fourth. Team Elite’s Colin Anderson also went 2-for-3 with one double on the afternoon. In the top of the seventh, Team Elite tried to climb back with a line drive double from Colin Anderson allowing Camden Shirley to score, closing Smartense’s lead by one, but unfortunately fell short.

The switch-hitting catcher came in at No. 3 nationally in the recently updated class of 2030 rankings. Best Game I Saw: The Dream NTL 18U vs. MBA Scout Team Murphy Jupiter always brings out the best, and we got fireworks from the jump. Turner Marshall gave The Dream an outstanding 4+ innings of work on the mound, holding a lethal MBA team at bay with Chance Dixon, Derrick Carter, and Ellis Appling providing an offensive spark out of the gate for the Georgia based boys. However, it was only a matter of time before the talent on the other side got going, as MBA erased a 3-run deficit in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead led by a Parker Loew HR. The Dream then took command again in the Top of the 6th, before MBA punched right back with a huge 5-run inning in the bottom half capped off by a clutch RBI single from Matthew Kerrigan, ending a wild sequence with tons of notable performances from two very competitive rosters. Nebraska Cornhuskers 2025 Highlights: The Cornhuskers were a difficult team to figure in ’25 as they finished with 33 wins, played just .500 (15-15) in the Big Ten but had some big wins at various times during the season and got hot at the right time. They knocked off then #16 Vanderbilt in the second game of the year, beat #5 Oregon State 2-out-of-3 at home in late March and then got hot at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha to win the Big Ten Tournament. They beat Michigan State in a 10-inning thriller before taking care of #4 Oregon, knocking off Penn State and then shutout #13 UCLA to punch their ticket to the Chapel Hill Regional.
