3-Green vs. 7-Orange Game Highlights

5/21/2023

Jackson Ranney (2025, Studio City, CA) jumped on the first pitch of the game and laced it into right field for a single. A strong frame and good extension out front can produce hard hit contact to all fields.

Sebastian Frye (2025, Las Vegas, NV) impressed during his start on the mound. The fastball at 78-81 mph paired well with a sharp slider at 67-70 mph. Both offerings showed the ability to miss bats when in the zone.

Seth Aanestad (2025, Mountain Center, CA) put together a quality at-bat before lining a ball to left field for a base hit, followed by an RBI single late in the game. A short, compact path allows the bat head to get into inner half pitches. Aanestad showed good athleticism on the bases, as well.

Jason Dunham (2026, Huntington Beach, CA) showed off strong two-way potential throughout the game. The righthander ran the fastball up to 80 mph with a quality curveball at 67-70 mph. Feel for the barrel stands out at the plate and resulted in a hard hit single to left field early on.

Blake Lau (2026, Anaheim Hills, CA) found one of the louder barrels on a ground rule double to deep left field. Quick hands with extension out front help drive balls with authority despite a smaller build.

Esamuel Jaramillo (2026, Moreno Valley, CA) barreled a ball hard into the right-center field gap for a double. A strong frame gets used well at the plate, producing hard hit contact to both gaps.

Tony Espinosa (2023, Tulare, CA) made an outstanding play in center field late in the ballgame, ranging far into the gap to make a diving catch. A strong arm was shown as Espinosa got up and doubled off the runner at first.

Zachary Dizon (2026, Palmdale, CA) found a loud barrel late, driving a ball into the left field corner for a double. Loose hands allow for elevated fastballs to be handled well. Dizon followed up the double by immediately stealing third.

Batting Practice Highlights Teams 6-10

5/20/2023

Paul Shanabarger (2026 RHP, Temecula, CA) is a primary pitcher with an outstanding 6-3/185+ build with plenty of potential as a hitter as well.  He creates real bat speed with a long and extended swing and has plus power potential down the road.

Reid Kaluger (2024 3B, Redondo Beach, CA) has a well controlled swing and his 6-2/195 build helps him create plenty of present bat speed.  He drove some balls hard during his round.

Aidan Stevenson (2024 1B, Coto De Caza, CA) is a strong first baseman with a power approach at the plate and the type of strength and bat speed to pull it off.  He got tons of carry to the middle of the field without selling out for it.

Tyler Cornish (2026 OF, Camarillo, CA) has hitter's hands, with very good quickness and the ability to control the barrel.  He really projects well as he matures physically.

Jonathan McDermott (2025 SS, Simi Valley, CA) has a very clean and easy swing from the right side with a calm shift and very good direction and timing into contact.  He's going to really blossom when he adds some strength to his 5-9/155 build.

Gabriel Ciechanover (2024 OF, Hillsborough, CA) looks the part with a chiseled 6-4/205 body and big right handed bat speed.  He hit the only home run of batting practice all day and crushed a number of other balls as well.

Andrew Paez (2024 3B, Camarillo, CA) is a strong 6-0/195 right handed hitter who uses his lower half well to drive his swing.  That swing is loose with extension and produced lots of hard gap shots throughout his round.

Christian LaMothe (2025 1B, San Juan Capistrano, CA) was one of the best hitters of the day, with very fast hips and some strength in his 6-0/185 frame.  This left-handed hitter has a very high ceiling at the plate.

Andrew Zarate (2026 3B, Redlands, CA) has a timing intensive swing and can get stuck on his back side at times but there is no mistaking the freshman's strength and raw bat speed.  He has some strong hitting tools to develop.

Joel Roberts (2023 OF, Modesto, CA) is an uncommitted senior with definite college level tools as a hitter.  The 6-2/195 right handed hitter works uphill to the ball with lots of lift and bat speed.

Kai Chang (2025 C, Riverside, CA) is another right handed hitter with an uphill swing approach that consistently gets the ball in the air with carry.  He's a very strong and compact 5-9/175 athlete.

Ryder Dykstra (2024 OF, Corona, CA) is a very polished left-handed hitter who has a high level combination of bat speed and barrel awareness.  He projects to be a high average/high contact hitter with some pop to go with it.

Connor Apeceche (2024 C, Las Vegas, NV) has big strength in his 6-0/205 frame and a loose and extended swing that creates plenty of bat speed.  There's even more power in there if he can get into his strong lower half better.

Wyatt Arellano (2024 C, Corona, CA) is another strong right handed hitting catcher whose ability to hit and drive the gaps will give him an advantage as a catcher moving up to the next level.

Zachary Doyle (2024 OF, Ladera Ranch, CA) has a nice left-handed swing that can impact the ball to all fields and he stays behind and through the ball very well.  His next step is adding more strength to his 5-9/165 frame.

Batting Practice Highlights Teams 1-5

5/20/2023

Declan Rivero (2024 SS, Palmdale, CA) has a big and strong 6-1/190 build and a calm approach at the plate that he repeats well.  He uses his strength well and drove the ball hard throughout his round from the right side.

Logan Green (2026 OF, Reno, NV) is a mature hitter for his age with some present strength and a nice right handed swing that produced steady pull side line drive contact.

Will Grable (2026 3B, Pasadena, CA) looks the part with his 6-3/195 build and he generates tons of raw bat speed and very good extension from the left side of the plate.  He's a high ceiling hitting prospect with some adjustments.

Kaden Hermsen (2025 OF, Escondido, CA) has good strength in his 6-0/190 frame and uses it to produce lots of present bat speed.  He hits from an open approach from the right side and barreled up balls hard all round.

Mike Lee (2024 OF, Cerritos, CA) has really fast hands from the left side and can really impact the ball, especially when he stays back and lets the ball travel.  He also showed some carry to the opposite field gap.

Augie Lopez (2024 C, Hermosa Beach, CA) has a somewhat busy approach that created a timing inconsistency but there was no mistaking his big power when he was timed up.  The USC commit has a bright future as a hitter.

Daniel Johnson II (2024 1B, San Pedro, CA) is one of the strongest players at the Sunshine West Showcase and the 6-4/225 right handed hitter uses that strength well with a powerful swing that has good flow and extension through contact.

Vincent Milo (2026 OF, Ladera Ranch, CA) really stands out for his 6-2/185 build as a 2026 and has a right handed swing that he's going to grow into well.  He gets the ball in air consistently with lots of carry already and there is plenty more juice coming.

Tait Karlson (2024 RHP, Ramona, CA) impressed on the mound with a fastball up to 88 mph but showed his chops as a power hitter as well, driving several balls deep up the gaps.

Marcello Anelli (2025 OF, Newport Beach, CA) has a short and quick swing that emphasizes square contact and he opened his swing up over the last few pitches to show that he could impact the ball hard as well.  It's a good swing package to build from.

8-Purple vs. 9-Red

5/20/2023

Benedict Del Rosario (2025, Daly City, CA) jumped on the first pitch of the game and lined it into center field for a base hit, immediately followed by a stolen base. Athletic skill set can set the tone at the top of the order.

Ethan Chavez (2024, Maricopa, AZ) showcased the ability to miss bats often with a dynamic two-pitch mix. The fastball sat 80-83 mph with plenty of ride through the zone. A sharp, 12-6 curveball at 70-74 mph (2400+ rpm) pairs well off of it, generating frequent whiffs.

Caleb Thompson (2024, Riverside, CA) showed impressive stuff during his start on the bump. The fastball sat 82-85 mph (2315 rpm) with more coming down the line. A sweeping slider at 72-75 (2280 rpm) mph can miss bats when spun well.

Avery Jones (2025, Eastvale, CA) recorded a loud triple to deep left-center field followed by a hard hit single back up the middle. Quick hands help generate quality power despite a smaller build. Advanced speed was shown on the bases with the ability to kick into another gear.

Gabriel Ciechanover (‘24, CA) absolutely unloaded on a ball for a long 2-run home run to left field. A strong, physical frame generates massive pullside power when squared up. Ciechanover also showed strong two-way ability, running the fastball up to 87 mph with a sharp slider.

Jason Dunham (2026, Huntington Beach, CA) lined a ball hard back up the middle for a base hit. The young hitter shows the ability to stay on tough pitches well using an all-fields approach.

Robbie Peppell (2025, Los Angeles, CA) dominated out of the pen. The fastball sat 80-83 mph with tons of ride at the top of the zone. A sharp slider at 70-72 mph (2280 rpm) paired well off of it, generating frequent whiffs.

Christian LaMothe (2025, San Juan Capistrano, CA) put together a long battle at the plate before lining a ball into center field for a base hit. A balanced, left-handed swing can find barrels often, while advanced bat-to-ball skills make for a tough out with two-strikes.

5-Maroon Vs. 10-Columbia Blue Game Highlights

5/20/2023

Johann Gibbs (2024 OF, Cerritos, CA) got the start and had a scoreless outing for Columbia Blue striking out 8 and only allowing 1 hit. He mixed in 2 differing breaking balls, a downer 68-69 CB and a shaper lateral 71-73 SL which he landed both for strikes. Also added a line-drive single up the middle at the plate.

Matthew Bernath (2024 SS, Riverside, CA) impressed at SS throughout the game showcasing quality range and an ability to aggressively come in on balls with smooth footwork/glovework. He also added a hard line-drive knock up the box in game.

Ethan Goldstein (2024 SS, Houston, TX) had a solid BP round showing a natural lofty swing while consistently being on barrel. Then in-game he drove a FB into the left-center gap for a hustle 2B.

Zachary Doyle (2024 OF, Ladera Ranch, CA) showed a smooth/easy stroke during BP working the bat on a clean path through the zone with good balance/extension. He found a barrel in-game for a line-drive knock to right and also added a nice diving play coming in on a ball in right field.

Kosta Filipovic (2026 RHP, Las Vegas, NV) went 3 innings of 2-run ball in his outing striking out 3. He used a two-pitch mix including a FB he ran up into the upper 70s topping 79 and a developing CB at 64-66.

Joe Steidel (2024 LHP, Henderson, NV) had a shutdown relief outing for Columbia Blue. Showed a loose arm within an athletic/deceptive delivery. FB got up to 82 inducing whiff up in the zone. He mixed in a CB at 66-70 that showed large/downer shape that approved hard to barrel and flashed a developing low 70s CH.

Julian Rodriguez (2026 3B, Placentia, CA) showed solid stuff in his 2 shutout relief outing. It’s an easy quick arm that works to a lower 3/4 slot within an easy operation. FB worked up to 84 showing running action. Mixed in a solid sweeping SL in the 70s that got up to 2600 rpms. He also added an opposite field single to right at the plate.

1-Black vs. 2-Gold Game Highlights

5/20/2023

Matthew Bias (2026, Huntington Beach, CA) got things started with a hard hit single right back up the middle. A short, compact swing and advanced approach allows Bias to handle higher velocity.

Andrew Johnson (2024, San Juan Capistrano, CA) impressed during his start on the mound. The fastball worked 87-90 mph with tons of armside run. It paired well with a sharp curveball at 72-74 mph that can miss bats regularly.

Pj Hancock (2026, Roosevelt, UT) showcased a wide array of offensive tools early on, lining a ball into left field and hustling around the bases for a double. A slender frame hints toward quality projection as strength is added.
