12u Tourney All-American Team

Photo: Caden Dawson (Perfect Game)
2021 brought us tons of action-packed excitement from coast to coast when it came to the 12u age group. Whether it was at one of the regional events across the country or at the inaugural PG Invitational in Sanford, there was plenty of notable performances by these outstanding young athletes. As the year comes to a close, we would like to highlight these standouts on our Class of 2027/12U Tournament All-American Team.

The 58 names mentioned amongst the first and second teams amassed some outstanding numbers throughout the year, as this group was selected to an astounding 594 All-Tournament Teams. Not one hitter on the first or second team hit below .400 in 2021, while smashing a mind-boggling 469 homers. While pitching at this level can be an envious task, the pitchers struck out over 1,700 hitters.

Georgia native Caden Dawson takes home his second Perfect Game Player of The Year honor, as he was also named PG’s 12U Player of The Year at this year’s Select Festival. The numbers that Dawson amassed in 2021 are almost video game-like, as the young athlete hit .510 over his 228 plate appearances. Fifty-four out of his 93 hits went for extra bases, as the left-handed hitter smashed 22 doubles, 8 triples and 24 home runs. Couple that with his 81 stolen bases and a 1.706 OPS, and it’s easy to see why he is our 2021 Tournament Player of The Year.

Capping of the 2021 year with an outstanding performance at our National All-State Select Championships is Jael Castillo, our Tournament Pitcher of The Year. The projectable, young left-hander was impressive across his five innings of work, striking out 10 hitters and allowing just one earned one. That performance was just the exclamation point on a very successful 2021 season for the Wake Forest, N.C. native. Castillo struck out 118 hitters across his 80 2/3 innings in 2021, as the Canes Pirro product pitched at both the 12 and 13u level throughout the year. He allowed just six earned runs in those innings and amassed a 3-1 record for his team. This likely will not be the last time we hear his name, as the long and lean left-hander profiles to continue adding velocity as he physically matures.

Player of the Year: Caden Dawson, OF/C, Marietta, Ga.

Pitcher of the Year: Jael Castillo, LHP/1B, Wake Forest, N.C.

Back-to-Back MLK East for Phillies

TBT Phillies Scout run rules for second straight MLK East Championship The 14U TBT Phillies Scout Team overtook A3 Academy Futures 14-6 in the final game to win their second straight 2026 MLK East Championship. Though the skies were blue and the sun was out in Fort Myers, Florida, the air was very chilly. The wind whipped through the palm trees as players, parents and friends piled into the 5-Plex Player Development Complex bundled up in blankets, hoodies and beanies.  The A3 Academy Futures were first up to bat - and the TBT Phillies struggled through the first frame. The first run came across on a balk; the second came soon after off a double from Gabriel Messing. “I was surprised that they scored right away off the jump,” Kingston George said, an outfielder for TBT Phillies Scout and this year’s MVP of the 14U East MLK championship. “We were kind of quiet...
