The 16U Championship game between NCBA Golden Spikes versus 5 Star Carolina was a very thrilling matchup that went into extra innings. The game was back-and-forth as both organizations always have talented players. In the end, the 5 Star Carolina team walked it off in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sac fly.



Ethan Garner (West End, NC 2022) was the MVP of the tournament going seven for sixteen with three runs scored and five RBI. The uncommitted infielder had a great championship game today, setting the table for his team to score him in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk it off. Garner led the eighth off with a line drive up the middle and the team bunted him over to second base. On the second pitch, he stole third and scored the winning run on a sac fly. In the Championship game, Garner finished going two for four with one RBI. There is plenty to like about this young, athletic man as he utilizes his speed very well in conjunction with his great hitting tools and quick bat at the plate.
