6/5/2016

Justin Pacheco (2018 MIF, Howard Beach, NY): Pacheco collected two strikeouts over his two innings of work on Sunday, showing a fastball up to 81 MPH along with a solid curveball and changeup combination.

Jason Langevin (2018 1B, Little Falls, NJ): The well-built Langevin showed a full arm action through the back with a fastball that touched 77 MPH, with tons of life to the arm side that made it impossible to square up. Also showed some feel for the changeup, turning it over with good arm speed. He also added a single and scored a run when hitting.

Patrick Barrett (2017 RHP, Manahawkin, NJ): Barrett showed well with both the bat and on the mound over the weekend. Today, he drilled a long, loud double in his first at bat, showing plenty of bat speed and leverage in his swing.

George Sutherland (2017 SS, East Northport, NY): Sutherland doubled in his first at bat, turning the barrel well on inside heat to do so. He's also a good runner with excellent base running instincts, getting a great jump off the pitcher to swipe third base.

6-Maroon vs. 5-Green Highlights

6/5/2016

Carlos Marte (2018 SS, Elizabeth, NJ): Marte struck out 6 hitters over his 3 innings of work, showing a clean arm action into a crossfire delivery with a fastball up to 81 MPH with good life. Also showed a sharp curveball and fading changeup.

Robert Cappadona (2017 OF, Leonia, NJ): Singled sharply to the left side of the infield, and showed excellent quickness out of the box and then impressive speed once underway.

Chris Gerard (2018 LHP, Wayne, NJ): Showed a solid approach at the plate with a clean, quick stroke that has plenty of loft. Singled and stole a bag in his first at bat, then lofted a long fly ball in his second at bat. Projects for very good power.

Jake Artzt (2018 RHP, Stroudsburg, PA): Singled in his second at bat of the afternoon, then promptly stole second base, showing a solid combination of hittability and speed. Really does a good job extending through contact.

Sean Downey (2017 3B, Elizabeth, NJ): The only player of either game to collect multiple hits, Downey doubled to left field and singled to CF in his two at bats. He has very strong wrists when hitting, making hard contact consistently.

2-Cardinal vs. 3-Columbia Blue Recap

6/5/2016

Salvatore Ferro (2017 LHP, Middle Village, NY): Worked the entire four innings of the game, striking out three and allowing only a single run. Kevin Johnson (2017 OF, Whitehouse Station, NJ): Extends well through contact and uses the whole field, lining a single to the opposite field in his only at bat. He promptly stole second and third base, showing off excellent speed.

Travis Zurita (2017 OF, Ozone Park, NY): Singled in his first at bat, showing very easy and loose hands throughout the swing, then showed off his plus wheels by swiping second base before coming around to score later in the inning.

AJ Ward (2018 SS, Little Falls, NJ): Ward only went 1-2 in the stat sheet, but both at bats resulted in liner contact. He drilled a liner to the pitcher that resulted in an out, then absolutely walloped a triple into the gap in his second at bat.

Brandon Warnock (2017 SS, Brooklyn, NY): Warnock singled in his first at bat and then stole second base, before coming around to score. He then lofted a sacrifice fly in at bat #2, keeping his hands back on a CB very well and getting the run home.

Batting Practice Highlights

6/4/2016

Michael Zamora (2017 SS, Brooklyn, NY) is a lefthanded hitter and showed both quickness to his hands and barrel through the zone. There’s fluidity and lift to his swing plane and he did a nice job of generating extension out front in his swing.

David Willis (2018 OF, Elkton, MD) is an athletic 6-foot-2, 185-pounds and he knows how to use his strength as he shows a solid line drive swing plane which helped produced steady and hard barreled contact to all parts of the field.

Robert Buecker (2019 SS, Allentown, NJ) continued his nice day after impressing on defense with a solid round of batting practice at the plate. Despite his young frame he’s able to generate solid bat speed through the zone and knows how to handle the barrel, connecting for solid contact to all fields.

Brandon Warnock (2017 SS, Brooklyn, NY) did a nice job of creating extension in his swing which allowed for hard line drive contact with solid jump coming off the barrel when squared, showing nice bat speed through the zone.

Ethan Gallagher (2017 OF, Catonsville, MD) took the single most impressive round of batting practice Saturday afternoon as he made the spacious ball park look small. With standout bat speed and present strength that plays to all fields with hard jump off the barrel, the uncommitted Gallagher cleared the 420’ mark to dead center with his final swing of the round.

RJ Liverpool (2017 OF, North Chesterfield, VA) had a solid showing in all facets of his game after throwing 83 from the outfield and running a 6.63 60-yard dash. He continued to show well with the bat exhibiting loose wrists which helped generate whip to the barrel with natural lift and quick hands at contact.

Gionni Rosado (2017 2B, Fort Lee, NJ) begins with solid balance in the box and shows fluidity through the zone with a full swing to the ball. He generates solid bat speed and creates leverage at contact with nice extension out front.

Jacob Denner (2019 LHP, Closter, NJ) is a primary lefthanded pitcher and also a freshman but he performed well with the bat showing a line drive with a nice feel for the barrel. He repeats the swing well and does a nice job of generating line drive contact to all parts of the field.

Lorenzo Morello (2018 OF, Sewell, NJ) shows simple swing mechanics in the box and repeats them well, generating bat speed through the zone with solid contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field.

Forrest Ruiz (2017 OF, Bronx, NY) had a strong day all around and continued to do so with the bat, generating leverage at contact with the ability to drive the ball some to his pull side while repeating the mechanics.

Raul Ortega (2018 C, Nutley, NJ) is a switch-hitter who showed louder tools from the right side with solid balance and quickness to his hands that generate nice strength to the pull side part of the field.

Carlos Marte (2018 SS, Elizabeth, NJ) shows nice bat speed and extension out front while creating extension out front and line drive contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field.

Christian Kinsley (2018 SS, Coplay, PA) did a nice job of repeating his swing mechanics which included a direct path to the ball with some fluidity to his swing, creating nice carry off of the barrel.

Sean Downey (2017 3B, Elizabeth, NJ) has a strong build and he uses the strength along with his short and quick swing to generate solid contact to all fields. He does a nice job of getting his hips through the zone and shows nice life when squared off the barrel.

Michael Jelliff (2017 2B, West Long Branch, NJ) shows fluidity to his swing path and remains short to the ball with a solid finish through the point of contact. The ball comes off the barrel well with present bat speed and contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field.

From the left side of the plate Kyle Ofier (2017 SS, Pittston, PA) showed off his strength and began to generate leverage throughout his round while showing the same easy swing, producing a long home run over the high right field fence.

Daniel Alvarez (SS  Jr., 2017, Bronx) uses his physicality well and generates solid bat speed with fluidity through the zone. A commit to the University of Pittsburgh, Alvarez showed lift at the point of contact with the best carry coming to his pull side.

Riley Maypother (2018 MIF, Wall, NJ) showed a consistent swing through the zone and did a nice job to repeat it with a line drive swing plane and solid strength at contact while projecting for more.

Tyriq Campbell (2017 OF, Sicklerville, NJ) has a strong 6-foot, 186-pound frame and he incorporates it well into his swing as he generates solid bat speed and a shorter swing path that produced hard contact to all parts of the field.

A Coastal Carolina commit, Hartigan created consistent loud contact with a very short and quick swing which he repeated well while showing power, once launching a ball down the left field line for a home run.

Brad Brush (2018 RHP, Toms River, NJ) might be a primary pitcher but he handled the barrel well and showed a fluid swing through the zone. He incorporates his strength well with extension out front and shows carry off the barrel to all fields.

TJ (Thomas) Scuderi (2018 OF, Beachwood, NJ) created consistent hard and loud contact with present bat speed and hand speed while showing intent with his swing. He shows a line drive swing plane with consistent strength off the barrel, the best coming to his pull side.

Frank Spano (2018 LHP, Bloomingdale, NJ) is another primary pitcher who performed well with the bat, creating nice present bat speed with extension out front making for a loud round of batting practice. He loads his hands well and shows interesting strength off the barrel.

William Gambino (2018 OF, Haddonfield, NJ) is committed to The Citadel showed strong tools across the board and is a switch-hitter in the box. Sound from both sides of the plate Gambino had a stronger showing from the left side where he generated solid bat speed with extension out front and hard carry off the barrel, particularly to the middle of the field.
