National Pre-Draft Batting Practice Highlights

Christian Fedko (2017 3B, Gibsonia, PA) Showed a direct path to contact with natural lift through extension. Swung with intent and consistently drove the ball with authority between the gaps.
Brayden Frazier (2018 SS, Cedar Rapids, IA) Launched to contact with his normal, aggressive lower half that produced very good shift into contact. Generated very good carry to the pull side gap created hard rising line drive contact. Also homered to deep left field in batting practice.
Ryan Glass (2017 1B, Mableton, GA) The Georgia native showed a smooth, loose swing path with naturally leverage. Repeated barrel path well when working to pull side producing very tight backspin to the pull side gap.
Joey Wiemer (2017 OF, Temperance, MI) The 2017 grad utilized an upright, open stance with a simple leg lift trigger. Simple, repeatable mechanics allowed Wiemer to repeat a line drive barrel plane that consistently created hard contact to the middle of the field.
Cameron Cratic (2017 OF, Madison, WI) The 2017 outfielder flashed solid bat speed paired with the hand quickness to turn the barrel and work to pull side with authority. Stayed behind contact well producing good extension through contact while working to the middle of the field.
Peter Ahn (2017 SS, Delafield, WI) The Wisconsin native showed very quick, explosive hands to contact that generated very loud contact to all fields. Stays very balanced throughout his swing with the ability to work multiple pitch locations to all fields.
Jack Layrisson (2016 3B, Ponte Vedra, FL) The Florida native generated solid bat speed with present strength at contact. Ball jumped off the bat with very good carry when on time and squared to the middle of the field.
Adrian Cotton Jr (2017 RHP, Gretna, NE) Showed good raw power from the left side of the plate with the ability to turn the barrel and produce rising line drives to the outfield. Consistently repeated a lifted swing plane that produced good back spin off the barrel.
Connor McCaffery (2017 OF, North Liberty, IA) The Iowa commit utilized an upright, open stance while at the plate with a linear lower half to contact. McCaffery has very good bat speed through the zone with good lift through extension. When squared, the 2017 has very good raw power to the middle of the field and pull side gap.
Clayton Nettleton (2018 RHP, Davenport, IA) Primary right handed pitcher, but impressed with the bat today. The University of Iowa commit utilized a simple, compact swing plane that generated hard contact to all fields throughout batting practice.
John Swanda (2017 RHP, Des Moines, IA) Swanda, also listed as a primary pitcher, showed why he is a great two way prospect during batting practice. The 2017 grad repeated a very smooth line drive plane that created consistent hard contact between the outfield gaps. When working to contact out front, Swanda produced solid bat speed with the ability to turn the barrel to contact with authority.
Gregory Bennett (2017 MIF, Peosta, IA) Shows tons of athleticism in his swing with the ability to manipulate barrel and hit to all fields. Consistently drove the ball to all fields showing very good balance through extension.
Zach Huffins (2017 OF, West Lafayette, IN) The 6-foot-3 outfielder flashed a loose, extended path to contact with a line drive plane through extension. Showed a very good knack for delivery the barrel to baseball and create solid contact.
Jason Reyes (2013 SS, Bronx, NY) The Bronx native utilized a simple leg lift trigger with a rotational lower half that created a direct, compact path to contact. Stayed behind contact well with the hand and barrel skills to work to all fields.
Quinn Cherry (2017 1B, Harrison, AR) Works through baseball on an naturally lifted plane with plenty of raw power at contact. Baseball really jumped off the barrel to pull side produced very loud, hard contact. Homered to deep left field in batting practice.
Ethan Gallagher (2017 OF, Catonsville, MD) The Wake Forest commit showed elite level bat speed at the plate with tremendous raw power. Ball explodes off the barrel with very good carry to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Homered multiple times in batting practice from straight away left field to deep left center field.
Izaya Ono-Fullard (2017 3B, North Liberty, IA) Showed good barrel control with the ability to hit to all fields. Very quick, explosive hand through the hitting zone that generated consistent hard contact throughout batting practice. Homered multiple times during his BP round.
Raphael Andrades (2012 OF, Tallahassee, FL) The Florida native has very strong build and the bat speed to match. Andrades swung with extreme intent to drive the ball through the gap with authority.
National Pre-Draft Preview

The 21st annual Perfect Game Pre-Draft Showcase will be held at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Monday, May 15th. The Pre-Draft Showcase is on of the longest running events in Perfect Game history, and is designed to give prospects even more exposure ahead of June's MLB First-Year Player Draft. There will be no shortage of power arms and power bats head lining the Pre-Draft this year. Eleven primary pitcher have already touched 90 miles per hour at previous event while a hand full of position players have exit velocities in the upper 90's. Below are a few prospects who will be in attendance this coming Monday.
Kieran Casey (2016 RHP, Jupiter, FL) The 6-foot-3 right hander last appear at the 2016 World showcase receive a PG grade of 10 thanks to a fastball that ran up to 91 miles per hour. Casey has long limbs that generated very good deception from a low three-quarters arm slot. The Jupiter, Fl native finish a lot of success in his ability to consistently mix in his curveball and changeup for strikes.
Adrian Cotton Jr (2017 RHP, Gretna, NE) The athletic two-way prospect impressed only two weeks ago at the Spring Top Prospect Showcase, and hopes to do so again on Monday. Cotton Jr. shows present strength in his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, yet projects for additional strength. The Nebraska native features a fastball that runs up to 91 miles per hour on the mound and elite raw power from the left side of the plate.
Nick Jodway (2017 RHP, Morganton, NC) The UNC-Wilmington commit made his last PG appearance at the WWBA World Championships in Jupiter, FL with the Dirtbags flashing an electric fastball that topped at 95 miles per hour.
Clayton Nettleton (2018 RHP, Davenport, IA) Topped at 90 miles per hour two weeks ago at the Spring Top Prospect showcase with a sharp 11/5 curveball that showed a lot of swing and miss potential. The University of Iowa commit has a very mature presence on the mound with the ability to command the edges of the strike zone.
Luke Patzner (2018 RHP, Urbandale, IA) Another University of Iowa commit who topped at 90 miles per hour at the Spring Top Prospect Showcase. Patzner easily repeats a smooth, simple delivery with good command to the outer edge. Patzner also features a devastating slider with late, hard sweep to glove side.
Evan Reifert (2017 RHP, Wilton, IA) The Wilton, IA product standing at 6-foot-3 with a lean 185-pound frame. Reifert utilizes his lower half very well creating very good momentum to the plate. Fastball works up to 90 miles per hour with heavy running action to arm side. The 2017 grad also flashes solid two-way potential running a 6.93 sixty-yard dash and an exit velocity of 92 miles per hour off the bat.
Oscar Serratos (2017 SS, Lawrenceville, GA) The Georgia Tech commit also attending the 2016 National Showcase in Ft. Myers, FL where he receive a PG Grade of 10. Serratos has some of the best raw tools at this event with a 6.68 sixty-yard dash, throwing 91 miles per hour across the infield and an exit velocity of 89 miles per hour. Serratos also has some upside on the mound as well running a fastball up to 93 miles per hour.
Noah Skirrow (2017 RHP, Stoney Creek, ON) Also attending the 2016 National Showcase in Ft. Myers, FL showing a fastball that topped at 91 miles per hour from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Skirrow also has an advanced feel for a changeup offering that has solid fade to glove side.
John Swanda (2017 RHP, Des Moines, IA) Continues to improve with each event he attends. Was up to 93 miles per hour, an event best at the Spring Top Prospect Showcase. Swanda's arm comes through the zone with incredible smooth actions and there is little doubt that he will continue to add more velocity as he matures.
Quinn Cherry (2017 1B, Harrison, AR) The 6-foot-3, 215-pound first baseman is currently ranked as the top Arkansas first baseman in the class of 2017 that to his loose, naturally leveraged swing plane. Cherry created explosive contact off his barrel with exit velocities up to 95 miles per hour.
Ethan Gallagher (2017 OF, Catonsville, MD) Gallagher has an incredible mix of athleticism and raw power. The 2016 National Showcase attendee ran a 6.84 sixty-yard dash and flashed elite power with an exit velocity of 104 miles per hour. The #1 ranked outfielder in the class of 2017 in Maryland is committed to Wake Forest.
Brayden Frazier (2018 SS, Cedar Rapids, IA) Frazier has attending many Perfect Game events, and continues to get better with each one he attends. The Iowa commit flashes excellent power with mature barrel skills at the plate and polished defensive actions while in the field.
Connor McCaffery (2017 OF, North Liberty, IA) The 6-foot-6, 205-pound outfielder has a very athletic frame with plenty of room to continue to add strength. McCaffery's last PG appearance was at the 2016 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase where he ran a 6.94 sixty-yard dash and a naturally leverage swing plane with an exit velocity of 92 miles per hour.
Izaya Ono-Fullard (2017 3B, North Liberty, IA) The top ranked 2017 third baseman in Iowa shows solid actions in all phases of the game including at 6.81 sixty-yard dash, 86 miles per hour while throwing across the infield and an exit velocity of 99 miles per hour on a naturally lifted plane. Ono-Fullard's tools show well but play even better in live situations.
Joel Thompson (2017 C, Council Bluffs, IA) The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Thompson comes into the National Pre-Draft Showcase as the topped ranked 2017 catcher in the state of Iowa. Thompson utilizes a compact, direct bat path that creates very loud contact of the barrel with exit velocities up to 97 miles per hour. The Council Bluffs native is also very smooth behind the plate with a 1.84 pop time, topping at 84 miles per hour to second base.
Connor Van Scoyoc (2018 RHP, Cedar Rapids, IA) Connor, like his older brother Spencer, is also committed to Arizona State University. Van Scoyoc features and heavy running fastball that works up to 90 miles per hour and a very good sinking changeup with fading action to arm side.
Ian Bedell (2018 RHP, Davenport, IA) The Missouri Tiger commit and top ranked 2018 right hander in Iowa already shows a fastball that tops at 91 miles per hour. Bedell has a fast, loose arm action that is easily repeatable and allows for consistent command to each edge of the plate. The 2016 PG Underclass All American also utilizes a quality changeup that consistently keeps hitter off balance.
Ben Probst (2017 RHP, Urbandale, IA) Was up to 92 miles per hour in February at the Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase. Probst utilized a smooth, easy delivery with very good command to both sides of the plate. Attacks hitters with a 12/6 curveball and very deceptive changeup offering. The 6-foot-1 Urbandale native is currently ranked as the #2 right handed pitcher in the class of 2017, in Iowa.
Christian Fedko (2017 3B, Gibsonia, PA) The University of Connecticut commit showed off a balanced set of athletic tools at the National Showcase back in June of 2016, and hopes to do so again at the Pre-Draft on Monday. The 5-foot-11 third baseman has very soft hands with fluid glove actions defensively and a line drive swing plane with present bat speed at the plate.
