Quinn Cherry (2017 OF, Harrison, AR) The Crowder College commit has a lot of strength in his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. Generated hard line drive, after hard line drive with a swing plane that flashed good leverage through extension.
Mark Kattula (2020 3B, Sterling Heights, MI) The 6-foot, 195-pound 2020 grad stayed on his back side well at contact generating good lift off the barrel. The Michigan native already has present bat speed and strength at contact, but projects for more raw power potential with continue physical develop and maturity.
Chandler Kelley (2018 2B, Milton, WV) Kelley showed a high contact approach with the present bat speed to drive the baseball to all fields. With continued lower half refinement, Kelley projects as a rare second base prospect with solid raw power potential.
Pierce Blohowiak (2018 OF, Neenah, WI) The 2018 Wisconsin native generated good linear shift into the baseball with a compact, direct barrel path. Blohowiak also flashed the hand quickness to turn the barrel and work to pull side producing hard line drive contact to the gap.
Noah Gent (2019 SS, Corryton, TN) The 5-foot-11, 180-pound shortstop flashed quick hands through the zone with good extension through finish. Consistently repeated his swing plane generated good jump off the barrel throughout batting practice.
Luke Gilliam (2019 3B, Wildwood, MO) Gilliam showed a spread, open stance prior to launching to contact with linear lower half actions. The 2019 grad primarily looked to attack the bottom half of the baseball and lift with intent.
Haden Parton (2018 OF, Springfield, MO) The Missouri native showed good bat speed and strength at contact while consistently repeating a level, line drive swing plane throughout batting practice.
Hayden Brotz (2019 1B, Lincolnshire, IL) The 6-foot-1, 210-pound first baseman flashed good lower half balance while his hands worked through the zone on a loose, naturally lifted plane that generated good jump off the barrel.
Jeffrey Holtz (2018 C, Hartland, WI) The Indiana commit had probably one of the best rounds of the day producing hard hit line drives to all fields. Holtz flashed very quick hands through the zone with a linear path that allows the barrel to stay in the zone for an extended period of time.
Colin Bergmann (2019 3B, Weldon Spring, MO) The 2019 grad aggressively shifted into contact with his lower half producing very good bat speed through the hitting zone. Bergman swung with extreme intent, and when on time produced hard contact that exploded off the barrel.
Elijah Dale (2019 SS, St. Louis, MO) The St. Louis native has the rare ability to hit consistently with bat speed from each side of the plate as a 2019 grad. Dale consistently repeated a direct, compact path to contact that produced a line drive plane through extension.
Brett Gonzalez (2018 OF, Rolla, MO) The 6-foot, 212-pound outfielder put on one of the better raw power displays we saw all day. Gonzalez repeatedly punished the baseball to the back of the cage of a naturally lifted swing plane that seemed to produce plenty of carry to easily split the outfield gaps. Its also worth noting that hitting is not Gonzalez's only tool, the Missouri native also ran a 6.67 sixty yard dash and was gunned up to 90mph from the outfield.
Cardinal vs Columbia Blue Game Highlights
2/25/2017
Brady Betts (2019 RHP, Mattoon, IL) pitched at 81-84 MPH with his fastball with a clean arm action. He gets good running action on his fastball and showed good spin on his fastball.
Caden Monke (2018 LHP, Mt. Olive, IL) pitched at 88-90 MPH with his fastball with a quick arm action. He threw a tight curveball with good depth and spin on it. He also showed a very good change up at 79 MPH. Monke is a very interesting projectable left hander.
Jackson Fristoe (2020 RHP, Paducah, KY) pitched at 80-83 MPH with his fastball with a rotational delivery. He hides the ball well and showed good arm strength. With a few adjustments he could really improve.
Iyan Pelfree (2019 OF, Whiteland, IN) pitched at 82-84 MPH with his fastball with a clean arm action. The ball comes out clean on his fastball and the curveball has good shape and spin. His velocity projects and is an interesting follow.
Kevin Davis (2017 RHP, Orland Park, IL) pitched at 80-84 MPH with his fastball with a long arm action. There's more velocity in there with a few adjustments to his delivery. He's an interesting arm to track with those delivery adjustments.
Zane Alexander (2018 OF, Del City, OK) collected 3 hits and made consistent contact. He showed quick hands and a line drive path.
Noah Bruckner (2018 C, Atlantic, IA) also had 3 hits on the day. He made contact to the opposite field and has a quiet approach at the plate.
Payton Jackson (2018 C, Madison, AL) and Corey Hall (2018 OF, Champaign, IL) each collected 2 hits for the Cardinal team.
Kurtis Byrne (2019 C, Chesterfield, MO) made consistent hard contact in the games portion and really projects with the bat.
