2019 Top Prospects

Cameron Mahaffy  OF - 2019 - Costa Mesa, CA
Cal Poly

Mahaffy was the top natural athlete at the event, with a combination of running speed (6.92), big arm strength that registered 91 mph from the outfield and 88 mph from the mound, and lots of right handed bat speed that produced lots of power.

Peter Dufau  OF - 2019 - Camarillo, CA
Benedictine College (Kansas)

Dufau has a nice 6-4/185 build and is an outstanding runner for his size, posting a 6.58 sixty while also showing good arm strength from the outfield. He showed plenty of power in his right handed bat, hitting a home run in batting practice and just missing one in the games.

Brian Park  RHP - 2019 - Los Angeles, CA
Vanguard University

Park is a strong and projectable 6-3/190 right hander with a strong arm and plenty of projection. He topped out at 85 mph on his fastball and showed good spin and some power on a low 70's curveball.

Kyle Grier  RHP - 2019 - Mission Viejo, CA
Uncommitted

Grier is a long and loose 6-3/170 right hander who sat in the mid-80's, topping at 86 mph, with more tome as he fills out. He also threw a low 70's slider and mid-70's change up.

James Park  C - 2019 - Manhattan Beach, CA
Uncommitted

Park stood out in drills more for his offensive potential and strong 6-2/195 build but during the games it was his defense that stood out. He's very athletic behind the plate, handling pop ups like an infielder and making perfect game throws.

Aidan Rodriguez  SS - 2019 - Yuma, AZ
Uncommitted

Rodriguez is an athletic middle infielder with the actions and tools to stay there at the next level. His right handed bat is strong as well, with good barrel whip and bat speed that can make the ball jump when he's on time.

Justin Rodriguez  OF - 2019 - Simi Valley, CA
Uncommitted

Rodriguez is a strong 6-0/200 right handed hitter with the bat speed and strength to impact the ball hard with a pull side approach. He showed good arm strength from the outfield and was up to 83 mph from the mound.

Ethan Hagen  3B - 2019 - Santa Clarita, CA
Uncommitted

Hagen has a very projectable 6-4/185 build with an athletic look to him and some present strength that's just going to grow. He's a 7.06 runner with the ability to play both infield and outfield but his best tool is his right handed bat, which has some present bat speed and plenty of natural lift.

Michael Prieto  OF - 2019 - Victorville, CA
Uncommitted

Prieto's best tool was his left handed bat, which was whippy and fast with good lower half use and balance. He made consistent hard line drive contact and has the type of swing that should adapt well to the next level.

Peter Rodriguez  RHP - 2019 - Menifee, CA
Antelope Valley College

Rodriguez is a big and strong 6-3/210 athlete who has a deceptive delivery and gets bat breaking running action consistently on a low 80's fastball that topped out at 83 mph. He threw four pitches for strikes and used that ability to throw off-speed pitches to really make his fastball play up.

2020 Top Prospects

Owen Mortensen  C - 2020 - Riverton, UT
Utah

Mortensen is a present strong catcher with tools across the board. He's very athletic for a catcher, with 7.04 speed, and plays with plenty of energy behind the plate. He has a strong arm and makes accurate throws and was even up to 85 mph off the mound. His right handed swing has good bat speed and he has the ability to create back spin and lift the ball.

Brandon Heidal  C - 2020 - Anaheim, CA
Uncommitted

Heidel stood out defensively in the games in many aspects. He is very flexible, especially for a strong 5-11/200 athlete, and presents a very low target for his pitchers. He hosed multiple runners with perfect throws on the bag and even added some game hits with a short and quick right handed swing.

Justin Baldwin  1B - 2020 - Los Angeles, CA
Uncommitted

Baldwin is a left handed hitter with a sweet and fluid left handed swing that produced consistent hard contact to all parts of the field. He also showed very good defensive ability at first base, with mature footwork and balance, and made numerous nice picks of low throws.

Graehame Webb  OF - 2020 - Colorado Springs, CO
Colorado-Colorado Springs

Webb had a very good showcase offensively, with an aggressive pull approach from the right side and the ability to impact the ball hard and consistently. He has some quick twitch athleticism and looks like a future second baseman defensively.

Andrew Kotin  RHP - 2020 - Irvine, CA
Cypress College

Kotin has some strength to his 6-0/175 build and a sound set of mechanics that produced a fastball that topped out at 83 mph to go with a nice sharp slider and a tumbling change up. He filled up the zone with strikes and had an idea what he was doing on the mound.

Jaelen Williams  1B - 2020 - Fontana, CA
Jackson State

Williams is a very, very strong 6-2/220 athlete who is also playing football right now. He has a surprisingly loose right handed swing with big power potential and showed it when he flicked a two strike fastball in one at-bat off the right centerfield fence with seemingly no effort.

2021 Top Prospects

Billy Rice  RHP - 2021 - Coto De Caza, CA
Siena

Rice is a young 6-1/160 left handed hitter with a very fluid swing that showed surprising power to the ball side for his age and size. He hit two rockets off the right field fence in one game, while showing very good athleticism at shortstop in the other game.

Tommy Delany  RHP - 2021 - Princeton, NJ
Pennsylvania

The 5-11/150 Delany is athletic and projectable on the mound, with a well paced delivery and very clean and on time arm action. He worked up to 83 mph, with plenty more in the tank, and flashed some sharpness to his slurve type breaking ball.

Kainoa Williams  SS - 2021 - San Diego, CA
Uncommitted

Williams is a live bodied and projectable middle infielder who ran a 6.92 and showed good quickness at shortstop defensively. He needs more strength at the plate but has a short and quick right handed swing with good extension out front.

2022 Top Prospects

Ricky Rodenberg  3B - 2022 - Temecula, CA
Uncommitted

Rodenberg has a nice 6-0/175 build for a 2022 and showed some present bat speed in games with numerous hard hits, including a double off the left field wall. He has good lateral quickness at third base and should continue to improve in all areas.

Free Agents Top Prospects

Kota Suzuki  OF - Free Agents - Nagoya, AI JPN

Suzuki has a strong and compact 5-9/175 build and uses that strength very very well at the plate, creating some leverage and bat speed and the ability to get some jump to the pull side. He ran a 6.95 and threw 85 mph from the outfield.

John Clark  2B - Free Agents - Taipei City, TP TWN

Clark goes to school in Taiwan and has a strong and mature 6-0/190 build. He pretty much squared up everything hard in the games, driving the ball hard to the pull side, including a long home run in one game.

Takumi Maeno  OF - Free Agents - Hakata, FO JPN

Maeno was one of many Japanese players who participate in this event annually and stood out for his quick twitch athleticism and 6.49 speed in the sixty. He's a right handed hitter with good hand strength and the ability to get the ball up the gaps.
