2024 Mock Draft: April 11

Cleveland Guardians
1:1 Travis Bazzana, 2B, Oregon State

There’s lots of buzz that the Guardians are enamored with Bazzana here and he checks a ton of boxes in what Cleveland is looking for in a prospect. The new Oregon State career home run leader is in the middle of a blistering spring and if he doesn’t go here we don’t expect him to get out of the top three. -Vinnie Cervino

Cincinnati Reds
1:2
Charlie Condon, OF/3B Georgia

With Bazanna off the board first overall, the Reds still have a good slew to choose from and it’s hard to imagine Condon making it out of the Top-3 at this point given the absurd offensive production and gaudy in-game power he possesses. He checks boxes as a quick riser through a system and become an immediate impact big league bat in short order. -Isaiah Burrows

Colorado Rockies
1:3
Jac Caglianone, 1B/LHP, Florida

After the Travis Bazzana and Charlie Condon duo, the Rockies are the next team up to make a selection. It’s hard to have Jac Caglianone no.1 on our board and not see the Rockies take him. The supreme upside on both sides of the ball has to make him an attractive grab at 1-3 in our Mock Draft 1.0, especially after the Rockies have taken college players aplenty in the first round lately, outside of Zac Veen and Benny Montgomery. -Tyler Kotila

Oakland Athletics
1:4
Nick Kurtz, 1B, Wake Forest

Oakland has used their last two 1st round picks on college bats and looks like they will be in line to do so again this year. Kurtz possesses some of the highest offensive upside in the class, having the ability to hit for both power and average. He has caught fire once again since returning from injury and has played himself back into the Top-5 conversation. -Tyler Henninger

Chicago White Sox
1:5
Konnor Griffin, OF, Jackson Prep (Miss.)

The White Sox grab the first prep of this mock draft with the ultra-talented Griffin. Chicago is rebuilding and when you draft as a rebuilding team you take your chances on grabbing stars and if everything breaks right that’s exactly what they’ll be getting. There’s obviously risk too but Chicago has nailed their last two prep first rounders in Colson Montgomery (2021) and Noah Schultz (2022). -VC

Kansas City Royals
1:6:
Chase Burns, RHP, Wake Forest

Kansas City can go either way here. With more bats being selected, it has a chance to grab its choice of the top collegiate arm. It remains a tight battle between Burns and Smith, but we still have the triple-digit righty just a nudge ahead with a pair of 70-grade pitches in his arsenal. The Royals can very well likely dip into the prep ranks, but some of the higher end collegiate talent is hard to leave on the board. -IB

St. Louis Cardinals
1:7
Braden Montgomery, OF, Stanford

The St. Louis Cardinals have loved a safe college profile in the last few years. Braden Montgomery checks a lot of boxes here, and it feels like the Cardinals would grab him seventh, if he’s still there on draft day. Montgomery could easily be a Top-5 talent, and getting him at seven might feel like a steal to some. Four out of the last 5 years, they’ve taken a college player, so Montgomery would be a significant collegiate addition to their farm system -TK

Los Angeles Angels
1:8
 JJ Wetherholt, 2B, West Virginia

The Angels would make it six straight 1st round picks selecting a college player by picking JJ Wetherholt here. They have fast tracked prospects to the big leagues in recent years and Wetherholt could give them the ability to do so again. He entered the spring as the top player on the board and has a chance to be a quality get for the Halos with the 8th pick. -TH

Pittsburgh Pirates
1:9
 Hagen Smith, LHP, Arkansas

Smith has clearly established himself as one of the top two college arms in the draft, call it 1A and 1B with Wake Forest’s Chase Burns. Pairing him with Paul Skenes in the same system gives the Pirates a massive 1-2 punch and in theory they could have a similar development trajectory. There’s potential here for Smith to be one of the quicker movers as he looks like he’d fit in an MLB bullpen right now. -VC

Washington Nationals
1:10
 Seaver King, SS/CF Wake Forest

The Nationals are at an interesting spot and are a bet to go either the prep or college side given their recent history. Some of the highest end prep and college bats/pitching is off the board, but landing King at this spot sure seems like a solid fit given the drop off of up-the-middle talent in this class. He’s a rare athlete at a premium position. The tools and bat speed jump off the page at points, and the power surge has shown up loudly once again this spring. -IB

Detroit Tigers
1:11
 Vance Honeycutt, OF, North Carolina

The Detroit Tigers have had a lot of success drafting out of the eastern region, trusting their scouts throughout recent drafts. Even with a change in the regime up top, it feels like a potential 5-tool player like Vance Honeycutt would check the boxes. The UNC standout has worlds of upside for Detroit and would be an excellent addition to the system. They’d be buying the tools, which could certainly work out in their favor down the line. -TK

Boston Red Sox
1:12
Bryce Rainer, 3B/RHP, Harvard Westlake (HS)

It is no secret the Red Sox love to tap into the SoCal prep market, spending three of their last four 1st round picks on high schoolers from the region. They would do so yet again here, selecting one of the premier two-way players in the class in Bryce Rainer. Rainer made a significant jump in our latest update and would become the second prep player off the board here. -TH

San Francisco Giants
1:13 Trey Yesavage, RHP, East Carolina

After Chase Burns and Hagen Smith at the top of the draft Trey Yesavage slots in as the next best college arm and he looks poised to go around the teens. The stuff is very good with a mid-90s heater and full arsenal of options to get hitters out. The Giants can plug Yesavage in and immediately slot him in as one of their best prospects alongside fellow East Carolina alum Carson Whisenhunt. -VC

Chicago Cubs
1:14
Caleb Lomavita, C, California

The college catching group looks to be the strength of this class and at this selection, Chicago has its choice of a solid group. Lomavita has some of the best offensive tools that have been on display all year. It’s the makings of a plus hit tool and innate bat-to-ball with a chance for double digit power with sound traits behind the dish. -IB

22. Seattle Mariners
1:15
 Cam Caminiti, LHP, Saguaro (AZ)

The Seattle Mariners have been heavily investing in prep players in recent years, taking prep players with their first-rounders each of the last three years. Grabbing Cam Caminiti at 15th, who’s looking to continue showing his two-way upside, could be a dream for the Player Development department, seeing what they can do with the Arizona prep star. -TK

Miami Marlins
1:16 Kaelen Culpepper, SS, Kansas State

A new regime has taken over the Marlins front office and they will have a tough act to follow as the team managed to take two of the best prep arms in the 1st round a year ago. Here they use their first selection to take Kaelen Culpepper out of Kansas State. Culpepper has played his way into the 1st round with a dominant spring at the plate and showing above-average defense at shortstop with plus arm strength. -TH

Milwaukee Brewers
1:17
Jacob Cozart, C, NC State

The Brewers have one catcher in their top 30 prospects on MLB.com and Cozart would give them a very good defensive one. He’s an excellent receiver and handles pitchers well while there is power in the left-handed stick and that’s something that the Brewers have optimized with players in the past. -VC

Tampa Bay Rays
1:18
Dakota Jordan, OF, Mississippi State

Rays stay in the college ranks and take a shot at one of the toolsiest players you can find in any class with Jordan, our 12th ranked prospect on the board. He’s a rare physical 80-grade type athlete with 70-bat speed along with double-plus power and run tool. He’s made strides at the plate, drawing more walks and lowering chase rate wise this year playing in the SEC. Simply put, it’s hard to find these types of tools at the No. 18 spot. -IB

New York Mets
1:19 Brody Brecht, RHP, Iowa

At 19th, the New York Mets could invest in the tools with Iowa’s flamethrower, Brody Brecht. He's an arm who’s been up to 104 mph on the heater with a devilish slider. This spring has been more in the upper 90s in the colder midwest temps, and the walk rate may worry some teams. However, the absurd punchout rate and stuff makes him an option. The Mets could very much so be in on the long term here, with an arm who’s already flashed triple digits and has a great slider to work with. -TK

Toronto Blue Jays
1:20
 William Schmidt, RHP, Catholic (HS)

It is the third straight year the Blue Jays will pick in the low-20’s and the selection of William Schmidt here would make it three straight years picking a prep player. One of the top prep arms in the class, Schmidt possesses a power fastball and big time spin rates. It may seem early for a prep right-hander to come off the board, but the upside might be too hard for Jays to pass up on here. -TH

Minnesota Twins
1:21
James Tibbs III, OF, Florida State

Few players in this first round have seen their stock rise like Tibbs has as the Florida State corner outfielder is putting together a dominant season. The Twins have a fairly strong history with college hitters and left-handed bats and Tibbs’ track record looks so good that he should have a fast-track to the Majors. -VC

Baltimore Orioles
1:22
 Carter Johnson, SS, Oxford (HS)

Baltimore stays in the prep ranks with its first pick, taking a shot at one of the cleanest shortstops in the prep class with a sweet left-handed swing in Johnson. It’s very sound bat-to-ball skills and a crisp glove in a class that lacks the highest end up-the-middle talent on the dirt. Johnson has well-rounded tools and projects on the dirt coming off a big spring. -IB

Los Angles Dodgers
1:23 Cameron Smith, 3B, Florida State

The Dodgers have been looking at prep players lately, but seeing them take a chance on Cam Smith could be in the cards at 23rd overall. A player who’s been raking for a red-hot Florida State team could wind up being a great addition to the system. The Dodgers may buy into what Smith offers as an uber-athletic and strong presence in the box. -TK

Atlanta Braves
1:24 Ryan Johnson, RHP, Dallas Baptist

The Braves have spent their 1st round pick on an arm every year since 2020, including what looks to be a potential steal last year in Hurston Waldrep. They once again tap into the college arm market and could grab yet another high-end arm here with the selection of Ryan Johnson. The physical right-hander has been stellar this year and could quickly accelerate through the minor league system. -TH

San Diego Padres
1:25
Braylon Doughty, RHP, Chaparral (Cali.)

There are few players at the top of this draft with more buzz surrounding their name than Doughty and the Padres make it a whopping eight consecutive years drafting a high schooler with their first pick. AJ Preller likes to take big swings and Doughty has a starter profile with excellent stuff and could be a frontline arm with development. -VC

New York Yankees
1:26
 Carson Benge, OF Oklahoma State

The Yankees keep their recent trend of left-handed collegiate bats going, and Benge fits the mold of a solid first-round type who does a lot well. He’s a quick-twitch athlete with big bat speed with a polished hit tool and low chase rates this year. He projects to hit and is a sound defender capable of roaming the outfield. It’s good tools across the board that can shoot up a system. -IB

Philadelphia Phillies
1:27 Slade Caldwell, OF, Jonesboro (AR)

The Philadelphia Phillies have been all-in on prep players in the last few years, and with Dave Dombrowski still running things at the very top in Philadelphia, it’s easy to see them grabbing a prep standout like Slade Caldwell. There’s been a ton of buzz around him this spring, and his strength upside, paired with elite strength, makes for an interesting profile to bring into the organization. -TK

Houston Astros
1:28
 Billy Amick, 3B, Tennessee

The Astros haven’t picked a high school player in the 1st round since Forrest Whitley in 2016. That does not change here with Houston selecting Billy Amick out of Tennessee. It would be the second time in the last three years the Astros use the 28th overall pick to take a player out of Knoxville, having selected Drew Gilbert in 2022. Amick has continued to climb up draft boards with a strong spring, sneaking into the backend of the 1st round. -TH

Arizona Diamondbacks
1:29 Tommy White, 3B, LSU

The Diamondbacks have a ton of picks and bonus pool money to play with but they’ll grab CWS hero Tommy White after he slides a bit in this mock. White has shown the power recently but can go out to any part of the park and the Diamondbacks get someone they can plug into the middle of their lineup when he gets there. -VC

Texas Rangers
1:30
Theo Gillen, SS/OF, Westlake HS (TX)

The Rangers can go either route here, but we have them taking the top in-state prep prospect in Gillen who has been on an absolute tear this year. He is leaving the yard at a high rate this spring with a pro-type frame, and he’s a good athlete that can move on the dirt or potentially roam out in center.  The hit/power tools are big here with budding power upside in a left-handed stick. -IB

Arizona Diamondbacks
1:31 PJ Morlando, OF, Summerville (SC)

The Arizona Diamondbacks being able to grab PJ Morlando at 31st overall would be a huge win. He’s been someone near the top of the class for a while and a performer on the circuit in his prep days, so buying into the stock here seems on par for them. -TK

Baltimore Orioles
1:32
 Wyatt Sanford, SS, Independence (HS)

The Orioles system is loaded with left-handed hitting prospects and they would be adding another one here in Wyatt Sanford. It would make it five straight years that Baltimore has drafted a left-handed hitter in the first round and the second prep shortstop in the past three years. Sanford would add yet another athletic defender that should stick up the middle to their already loaded farm system. -TH

Minnesota Twins
1:33
Caleb Bonemer, SS, Okemos (Mich.)

The Twins would likely have some financial flexibility here and can shoot for a big named high schooler to float down and that would be Bonemer in this mock. He’s a big infielder with big power and an underlying base of impressive athleticism. He’s not a finished product but there’s a very good foundation here. -VC

Milwaukee Brewers
1:34
Malcolm Moore, C/1B, Stanford

Milwaukee has been more prudent on the college side in the earlier rounds. It stays more within its slot value with its first two picks, going for loud left-handed power with Moore in the Comp A round. It’s gaudy exit velocities and plus raw power in the stick. He’s bounced between catcher and first base and some questions remain behind there, but Moore’s offensive skill set can fit in the heart of an order if it all comes together. -IB

Arizona Diamondbacks
1:35 Ryan Sloan, RHP, York (IL)

Doubling down after grabbing PJ Morlando (31st overall) to grab another prep player could be in the cards. Ryan Sloan has been impressive this spring on the prep circuit in Illinois, and a continued loud spring could see teams jumping on him. The Diamondbacks could get him involved with their Player Development group and have a ton of room to dream on this profile. -TK

Cleveland Guardians
1:36 Mike Sirota, OF, Northeastern

The Guardians would be taking their second collegiate bat of the draft here with the selection of Mike Sirota. The Northeastern product entered the year as a potential Top-15 pick, but goes in the mid-30’s here. Cleveland has the highest bonus pool to work with and could use the pick to get creative on how to spend it. Sirota’s athleticism, high on-base profile could make for a valuable selection. -TH

Pittsburgh Pirates
1:37
Braylon Payne, OF, Lawrence E. Elkins (Tex.)

The Pirates have liked going after toolsy preps with their picks after the first and Payne fits that to a tee. He’s a plus runner, athlete, and defender in enter with very healthy contact rates from the left side. Pittsburgh’s PD will likely get to some of that strength in the stick and Payne has potential to be a very good everyday player. -VC

Colorado Rockies
1:38
Jonathan Santucci, LHP, Duke

Colorado stays on the higher end college side here and gets arguably good value with Santucci at this spot. He’s a workhorse, athletic lefty with a plus high-90s fastball and the makings of an above-average slider and changeup to mix. The Rockies have made an emphasis to target college pitching in recent drafts, they do just that here at No. 38 overall. -IB

Kansas City Royals
1:39
Kellon Lindsey, OF, Hardee (FL)

The Kansas City Royals love themselves some prep players. They grabbed Blake Mitchell in the first round last year and Frank Mozzicato in 2021. So it seems fitting that they could take a chance on one of the biggest prep risers from this spring in Kellon Lindsey. He’s had a ton of draft buzz this spring and could be a really intriguing profile for the Royals at 39th overall. -TK

There’s a lot of talent throughout this 2026 class, filled with the big-name stars, to talent that spreads across the nation. It’s been a lot of fun seeing these prospects grow and develop over the years, from the days of watching some of these guys at the 13/14u days at events on the circuit, to now where they are all graduating seniors in 2026. There’s been new faces who have popped along the way over the years, even in 2026, where some players who were relatively undiscovered, have come out and made a name for themselves with a statement performance. Between the familiar and the new, there’s a lot of names on this list that are going to be quite regularly talked about on the circuit, and for good reason.  Whether it’s PG All-Americans or not, there’s a lot of names with superstar potential at the next level. We’ve got 14 PG All-Americans...

Best Game I Saw: The Dream NTL 18U vs. MBA Scout Team Murphy Jupiter always brings out the best, and we got fireworks from the jump. Turner Marshall gave The Dream an outstanding 4+ innings of work on the mound, holding a lethal MBA team at bay with Chance Dixon, Derrick Carter, and Ellis Appling providing an offensive spark out of the gate for the Georgia based boys. However, it was only a matter of time before the talent on the other side got going, as MBA erased a 3-run deficit in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead led by a Parker Loew HR. The Dream then took command again in the Top of the 6th, before MBA punched right back with a huge 5-run inning in the bottom half capped off by a clutch RBI single from Matthew Kerrigan, ending a wild sequence with tons of notable performances from two very competitive rosters. Nebraska Cornhuskers 2025 Highlights: The Cornhuskers were a difficult team to figure in ’25 as they finished with 33 wins, played just .500 (15-15) in the Big Ten but had some big wins at various times during the season and got hot at the right time. They knocked off then #16 Vanderbilt in the second game of the year, beat #5 Oregon State 2-out-of-3 at home in late March and then got hot at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha to win the Big Ten Tournament. They beat Michigan State in a 10-inning thriller before taking care of #4 Oregon, knocking off Penn State and then shutout #13 UCLA to punch their ticket to the Chapel Hill Regional. Head coach Will Bolt has now led his alma mater to three conference titles and three NCAA Regional appearances during his six years in Lincoln. Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 Elite defenders from coast to coast certainly seems to be a strength and to think you could make another top-tier team without thinking, speaks to the real depth this group possesses. The infield is a no-doubt strength of the group, but what catcher Dariel Carrion can do behind the plate is like something we haven't seen in a while in the prep ranks with an absolutely bazooka of an arm.  C: Dariel Carrion (San Juan, PR)  It isn’t often you get a catching prospect as athletic and natural as Dariel Carrion, a big reason why he holds the rank of #1 player in PR and #18 nationally. Metrics wise, the 5-foot-10, 210 pound San Juan native is all you can ask for and more, posting a sub 1.80 pop time with an 84 mph arm behind the dish.
