Gold vs. Gray Game Highlights

4/13/2019

Diego DeCello (2023 2B, Hamilton, OH) got the offense started immediately for the Gray team as he found some space in the opposite field gap and connected for a triple off of a 79 mph fastball.

Dakota Secrest (2023 SS, Lucasville, OH) got the start for the Gold squad and showed off impressive arm strength, running his fastball up to 79 mph with late running life while mixing in a short curveball in the mid-60s.

Cus Wood (2023 LHP, Cincinnati, OH) did a nice job of getting the barrel to an inner half fastball, turning on the pitch for a hard line drive single that he shot back up the middle.

Gage Wheaton (2023 OF, Irwin, PA) showed a strong arm in the outfield during the drills portion and brought that strength to live action as he came up throwing from center field to nail a would-be run at home plate with a one-hop strike.

After impressing all over the field both during the drills and their first game, Brett Denby (2023 SS, Sellersburg, IN) jumped on the mound and continued to show his talent. With an on line delivery and a quick arm he ran his fastball up to 82 mph and mixed in a hard spinning breaker with late bite.

Jarrod Mays (2023 1B, Xenia, OH) had himself a nice day at the plate and continued into game two, picking up three singles which included a well struck line drive into left field and a hard ground ball past the diving third baseman.

Kyuss Gargett (2023 SS, Anderson, IN) made one of the defensive highlights of the game out in left field as he got fully extended with a diving to come in and take a way what looked like a line drive single off of the bat.

Stephen Katch (2023 SS, Lancaster, PA) continued with a nice performance, showing skill all over the diamond including the batter's box as he line a deep triple to the opposite field in his final trip to the plate on the day with nice jump off of the barrel.

Gray vs Columbia Blue Game Highlights

4/13/2019

Jack Eastone (2023 SS, Barboursville, WV) Drove in two runs on a hard struck single into left field and was able to advance on a throw. Eastone displayed confidence in his bat and can create some jump off the barrel when squared up.

CJ Richard (2023 OF, Liberty Township, OH) Talented athlete on the mound that showed off the speed by stealing second base after collecting a single in the first inning. Collected a loud single in the second at bat of the day pulling the ball into left field. Big influence with his top end speed.

Braedyn Moore (2023 SS, Hamilton, OH) Had one of the harder hit balls of the day on a gapper into left centerfield for a long triple. Balanced at the plate with the ability to drive the ball with authority.

Lucas Moore (2023 2B, West Chester, OH) Had a solid on both sides of the ball. Made a solid defensive play in right field as well as got on base multiple times and scored three runs.

Jarrod Mays (2023 1B, Xenia, OH) Really showed off some raw jump to the gaps on a triple into left centerfield. Can drive the ball well with a pure power potential type approach to hitting.

Brett Denby (2023 SS, Sellersburg, IN) Fluidity to stroke and works well to the opposite field. Line drive swing plane producing a double to the opposite field gap. Repeats mechanics at the plate well. Doubled later in the game to the pull side gap.

Stephen Katch (2023 SS, Lancaster, PA) Was very solid on the left side of the infield. Made several high end plays and showed off some arm strength. Also worked three innings on the mound while producing quick outs.

Derek Genao (2022 OF, Indianapolis, IN) Had a solid day at the plate using the whole field with contact. Made consistent contact collecting a couple of hits in the game.

Columbia Blue vs. Gold Game Highlights

4/13/2019

Justin Wilkins (2023 LHP, Louisville, KY) Started on the mound and tossed three solid innings. Lefty with the ability to repeat delivery and consistently pound the zone with the fastball in the mid to upper 60's. Was able to create soft contact throughout innings. Fastball showed good life through the zone and would occasionally pair it well with a slider.

Justin Weaver (2023 OF, North Huntingdon, PA) Keeps hands tight and works around the ball and to the pull side on a ground ball past the third baseman for a double down the line.

Anthony Paul (2024 C, Toronto, ON) Works the opposite field well with the beginnings of feel for the barrel. Collected a couple of hits early in the game to right field.

Kyuss Gargett (2023 SS, Anderson, IN) Utilizes a controlled and easy line drive swing plane to drive the ball back up the middle and work the gaps. Had two singles in the game as well as a stolen base.

Daniel Luko (2023 OF, Murrysville, PA) Short and compact swing path with some barrel speed through the zone. Drove a line drive into the left centerfield gap for an easy double.

Landon Freeman (2023 LHP, Cincinnati, OH) Freeman tossed a strong three innings allowing just a single hit. Working in the mid 60's he filled the zone well and was able to create some swing and miss as well as some weaker contact.

Batting Practice Highlights

4/13/2019

Michael Stellrecht (2022 SS, East Amherst, NY) is a switch-hitter who made the trip out from New York and impressed with the components to his lefthanded swing. With balance and a fluid stroke, Stellrecht shows quickness to his hands with a linear path through the zone.

Harron Lee (2023 SS, Mars, PA) stepped into the righthanded box and put together a nice round while utilizing a simple set of mechanics. He creates present bat speed while showing a full swing path through the zone, living to the middle and pull side parts of the field with consistent line drive contact off the barrel.

Gage Wheaton (2023 OF, Irwin, PA) is a lean outfielder out of Pennsylvania who swings with plenty of intent at the dish. Once he found his timing he was able to create hard line drive contact to the middle of the diamond with nice jump off the barrel and a repeatable set of mechanics.

Cole Constable (2023 C, Erie, PA) found his timing quickly at the plate and did a nice job of staying short to the ball with his bat path. He creates extension out front and shows nice quickness to his hands with carry off the barrel while flashing lift to his path.

Lucas Moore (2023 2B, West Chester, OH) took one of the better rounds on the day thanks to a set of loose and quick hands in his righthanded swing. He worked to his pull side with comfort, showing simple mechanics and offensive tools that project nicely moving forward.

Stephen Katch (2023 SS, Lancaster, PA) employs a high leg lift trigger for timing but does a nice job of staying short to the ball with his swing which allows him to generate jump off the barrel. He has a stronger build and when he squared the ball up it showed jump with occasional backspin.

Brett Denby (2023 SS, Sellersburg, IN) is an athletic middle infielder who shows a full swing path through the zone and comfort working to his pull side. Denby creates lift to his swing and creates carry off the barrel, giving him nice components to his swing to watch as he continues to add strength.

Justin Weaver (2023 OF, North Huntingdon, PA) showed looseness to his hands in his righthanded stroke with extension out front at the point of contact. He’ll occasionally gets to his front side early with his weight shift but shows a linear path through the zone and projectable tools.

Braedyn Moore (2023 SS, Hamilton, OH) is a well-built, athletic shortstop who showed offensive tools that are worth following. He incorporates that strength into his swing and while he’ll continue to refine his mechanics Moore can already impact the baseball to his pull side.

Jarrod Mays (2023 1B, Xenia, OH) is one of the stronger players in attendance and he knows how to incorporate that strength into his swing already. He goes to the plate with a plan, looking to turn on the ball to his pull side and shows jump with raw strength off the barrel.
