Top 2025 Recruiting Classes

Full Class of 2025 Recruiting Class Rankings

Baseball recruiting was a bit of a different animal when comparing to the other major spots in the United States, mainly football and basketball, as it wasn’t uncommon to see schools gather up multiple commitments from players in the 8th and 9th grade, establishing the nucleus of their classes early on. With the rule changes put in place this past year, schools aren’t allowed to contact players until August 1st at the start of their junior years. So for those in the 2025 class who hadn’t committed early, this past August marked the opening of their recruitment once again and as such, we’ve seen lots of players give their verbal commitments, building up these 2025 recruiting classes. 

Last week we broke down each of the top 10 recruiting classes for the 2024 group following the initial National Letter of Intent (NIL) Signing period, which are linked above. That said, lets take a quick look into the future and break down the top 5 recruiting classes in the 2025 class while also recognizing these are sure to change as a couple of the big fish are still left in the recruiting pond who could certainly shake things up. 




1. Louisiana State Tigers

In what's quickly becoming a theme on the recruiting trail, the LSU Tigers check in with the top recruiting class for the 2025 group as they already had a strong foundation and recently picked up the No. 4 player in the country when Dean Moss made his announcement via social media. The combination of Quentin Young, Moss and Omar Serna (three very real middle of the order power threats) should provide free souvenirs for fans at the Box for years to come as all three have long been lauded for their juice, though they are potential game changers defensively as well. Then you begin adding in some of the athleticism brought forth by Jack Ruckert and his smooth left-handed swing, Mason Braun's lefty juice (who committed just after Moss) and in-state products like William Patrick and Marshall Louque, both of whom are hyper-athletic and multi-dimensional and the class is shaping up to be a game changer.

You can search coast-to-coast for a harder thrower in 2025 class than Miguel Sime Jr, but I promise you'll come up empty handed as the powerfully built right-hander grabbed the attention of everybody in Jupiter this past October with a heater that peaked at 99 mph in a brief outing against the older competition. Size is definitely a theme amongst the eight primary arms committed to Johnson and the Tigers as all are at least 6-foot-2 and feature a nice combination of now stuff and still long-term potential. Both Zion Theophilus and Vaughn Neckar joined Young, Moss and Serna at Chase for the inaugural Perfect Game All-Star Game after fruitful summers while 6-foot-4 NorCal right-hander Reagan Ricken was amongst the biggest risers on the national circuit with an outstanding showing at the PG Underclass Games where he was up to 92 mph with a hard, downer breaking ball. Marcos Paz generates some of the easiest velocity in the country and has already bumped 95 mph while James Whitaker, Briggs McKenzie and Karson Trichel are all valuable pieces who continue to build off already excellent foundations.

Up until about a month ago, give or take, the Longhorns had a very good 2025 class, one that's an easy top-10 crop, if not top-5 even. But then Head Coach Dave Pierce and his staff not only went into California successfully, once again, for do-it-all outfielder Anthony Pack Jr., an ultra-athletic left-handed hitting outfielder who absolutely exploded onto the national scene this summer, but also right-hander Brett Crossland, one of the top available arms in the class less than a week ago. At 6-foot-6 the Arizona native is an intimidating presence as he powers mid-90s (top 96 mph) heaters onto hitters, allowing his big 12-6 curveball and changeup to play off of one another effectively.

Third baseman Gavin Fien is plenty athletic and provides real defensive versatility, though it's the right-handed swing, and more specifically, the innate bat-to-ball skills that helped land him a spot in the Perfect Game All-Star Game where he suited up beside both Pack Jr. and Crossland. Athleticism is a clear focal point of the group as you continue down the list, seeing guys like Maddox Monsour, William Hill and Ed Small, all ranked within the top-160 and help lead the way for the 8 primary bats. 

For as impressive as the bats are, the depth on the mound might just be the calling card of this class as Crossland, left-hander Jack McKernan and his advanced feel, and Brody Walls are all ranked within the top-50 nationally, having delivered impressive performances throughout the last circuit, including Walls who did so in a two-way capacity while running his fastball up to 94 mph. Right-handed Cooper Rummel fits the mold of "big, hard-throwing Texan" as he's already been up to 92 mph from his 6-foot-3 frame and is joined by Trey Morris and Masa Chilcutt as 14u Select Festival alum. 

3. Tennessee Volunteers

Similar to the Texas crop at No. 2, this Tennessee recruiting class was already one of the best in the country prior to November 5th. Why mention the 5th? That's when the Tennessee staff received the verbal commitment of Carson Brumbaugh, one of the biggest risers on the national circuit this past summer as it's very real two-way potential with a nice combo of bat speed and strength from the right side of the plate, plenty of arm and actions for the left side of the infield and can also live in the low-90s on the bump. And if the addition of Brumbaugh wasn't enough, they also snapped up Wisconsin righty Sawyer Deering who continues to add to his heater (up to 92 mph in Jupiter) while still having plenty of room to grow.

A quick up and down of the entire class, 19 players deep, you'll notice only 6 are listed as primary arms with two-time Select Festival alum Jax Bishop leading the way at No. 108 in the country. That said, the five names you see above in the box above, along with the likes of Dayson Griffis, have all been at least 88 mph on the bump meaning the coaching staff has some options and the talent is there for these players to continue to refine and develop moving forward. Both Hankins and Tracey have been upper-80s on the mound from huge frames, but there's equally impressive power in their swings as they utilize their size to the fullest, impacting baseballs all over the yard. Tyler Wood and Ty Thompson have been up to 91 mph on the mound but bring very real athleticism to the lineup while Griffis and his 94 mph heater match the strength and impact in his right-handed swing. 

This crop once again shows the strength of the Vols on the trails, pulling from all over the country and continuing to tinker and add to the class, from their very first commit in left-handed hitting outfielder Dillon Adkins back in 2021 to Brumbaugh and Deering who came in the last month.

Seeing the Commodores within the top-5 for any given recruiting class is basically expected at this point given their success year in and year out, continuing to pull from all over the country, landing some of the big names as well as under-the-radar talent. Speaking of big names, you don't have to go too far for Vandy's top two recruits as they are teammates both in high school and with BPA in the summer as Seth Hernandez and Billy Carlson set the summer circuit on fire in 2023. Outing after outing this past summer Hernandez established himself as one of the top pitching prospects in all of high school, checking nearly every box from the frame to arm speed, repertoire and swing-and-miss ability on every offering. Carlson is as smooth and polished as you'll find in the class whether up the middle on defense, with the bat in his hands or on the mound where he has been upwards of 92 mph. 

We've touched on it in classes above, but one thing Vanderbilt always does well is spread its wings and pull from literally all corners of the country as we once again see here in 2025, whether it's 6.5 runner Slater de Brun out of Oregon, a riser out of New Hampshire in Brendan Horne who lived on the barrel this fall, or a trio of Northeast arms in Patrick Clemmey (Rhode Island), Grant McCubrey (New Hampshire) and Wyatt Nadeau (Maine). They also do well in their home state as well, adding three Tennessee natives to the mix, led by big 6-foot-5 Grayson Burleson who powered heavy, low-90s heaters down in the zone all summer en route to landing a spot in the inaugural Perfect Game All-Star Game. Mix in the likes of lefty Talon Haley and 6-foot-5 righty Luke Roupe, amongst others, and the Vandy arms appear to be locked and loaded heading into the future. 

Outfielder Brandon Logan brings game changing speed to the outfield while consistently squaring up the baseball throughout last summer, though he's far from the lone impact bat heading to Nashville. Alongside Carlson and Logan, Head Coach Tim Corbin and his staff have seven additional primary bats coming in, led once again by another Cali duo in Linkin Garcia and Cooper Flemming, both top-200 prospects who performed well throughout the circuit.
 
5. Miami Hurricanes

A look at the top five of this Miami class shows the Canes' reach on the recruiting trail, focusing on the in-state talent while also going into other hotbed states and coming out victorious, starting with toolsed up outfielder Mason Greenhouse of California. A long and hyper-athletic 6-foot-4, Greenhouse kicked the summer off with an absolute bang at the Junior National Showcase, putting a full collection of loud tools on display which were capped off with a 99 mph throw in drills before unleashing that cannon in game. One of four PG Select Festival alums in the class, Eddie Zaun joined Greenhouse at Chase for the PG All-Star Game and has long been lauded for his right-handed hit tool though it's safe to say the strength gains he made have quickly showed up in game as he launched three (3!) home runs in Jupiter despite facing arms a year older. 

The offensive firepower continues as you look down their list with Kelvyn Paulino Jr, Donavan Jeffrey and Gabriel Milano all locking down potential infield spots, though it's what they are capable of doing with the bat in their hands that have them ranked amongst the best prospects in the class. Outfielder Cristian De Los Santos is one of the more consistent performers on the Perfect Game circuit while Dylan Dubovik provides very real two-way potential thanks to the thunder in his bat as well a heater that runs into the low-90s already. Speaking of arms, the Canes have a pair of New Yorkers locked up in hard throwing Erick Peralta, who topped out at 94 mph in Jupiter, and super-projectable southpaw Sebastian Santos-Olson whose long 6-foot-3 frame is only going to grow stronger and in turn, see that 91 mph fastball continue to climb. 

There's a clear emphasis on impact offensive pieces as 12 of their 16 commits reside either in the dirt or grass to four who toe the rubber. First year Head Coach J.D. Arteaga has long been able to identify talent throughout his tenure in Coral Gables and it looks like not much is going to change on the front while he takes over at the helm.

2031 King James (Cincinnati, Ohio) got the start on the bump for Team Elite against, coincidentally enough, his hometown Cincinnati Angels and delivered a 5 inning, run rule shortened complete game effort. Not overly physical at just 5-foot-8, 140 pounds, James came out showing quickness to his arm as he opened up in the 75-77 mph while working around the zone, mixing a bigger curveball with depth to help keep hitters off balance. Some moments set the tone for an entire game. For Jackson Nave, it happened in his very first trip to the plate. The Sevierville, Tennessee native stepped into the batter’s box looking for a pitch he could drive. A few moments later, the ball was flying over the fence, giving FTB Phillies 13U an early boost and igniting what would become a dominant offensive performance. “I was feeling good,” Nave said. “I was just trying to find a pitch I could hammer. After another busy week of baseball, attention now turns to the 2026 PG 14u Arizona Desert Classic tournament as teams prepare for a weekend of competition on the Perfect Game circuit. This weekend will kick off the 2026 PG Junior National Showcase with the Sophomore National Showcase following close behind.
