Day 2 Championship Game Highlights

10/15/2023

Camden Knutson (2024 SS, Tulsa, OK) opened up the scoring in the championship game when he got the bat head out on a heater and drove in a pair of runs with a double. He was able to get his arm extended and impact the baseball, driving it deep down the line in left field and plating the first two runs of the game.

Grant Winkle (2025 LHP, Magnolia, TX) got the scoring started in the top of the first inning for his Southeast squad as he was able to capitalize on his chance early in the game with runners in scoring position. Winkle did a nice job adjusting the bat path to clean space and allow the bat head to get out front as he drove a triple into the right field corner to plate a pair of runs.

Reagan Samples (2025 1B, Fontana, CA) played a big role in the championship game with his contributions on both sides of the ball. The right hander was up to 84 mph on the mound as he worked two innings while mixing in his curveball. At the plate he also added a laced single to the pull side showcasing the bat speed to get to contact out front.

Charlie Wortham (2025 C, St. Peters, MO)made his impact felt on day two with his defensive actions. After being an offensive force on day one the uncommitted junior catcher put a halt to the running game on day two. In the championship game Wortham threw out two potential base stealers and was a miss tag away from picking up a third. He does a nice job with his footwork out of the knee down stance getting the ball out on time with a strong accurate throw on the bag.

Charlie Graves (2025 OF, Fayetteville, AR) started the key rally for his Southeast club in the fourth inning to break a 4-4 tie in the championship game. He was able to keep the hands to the inner half of the baseball while still getting the bat head out front to drive the baseball with authority to the pull side.

John Phillip (JP) Abt (2025 SS, Brandon, MS) continued his hot offensive way in the championship game. The Jacksonville State commit made it two games in a row with extra base hits as he followed up his triple in the semis with a double in the championship game as a part of the Southeast’s rally late in the game. Unlike the earlier extra base hit this time he went to the pull side driving the ball deep to left field.

Loften Hinklin (2025 RHP, Gilbert, AZ) was able to capitalize on a hanging breaking ball as he put an exclamation point on a strong showing on both sides of the ball this week in Tomball. The uncommitted junior was lights out on the mound on day one and sparked a potential rally for the West on day two with a long double off the left center field wall.

Day 2 Semi-Finals Game Highlights

10/15/2023

Alex Morales (2025 SS, Houston, TX) came on in relief showcasing a live arm with his fastball that topped out at 86 mph. His quick arm allows the velocity to play up getting on hitter quickly and setting up his off speed pitches. He mixed in a bigger 12-6 curveball with good depth as a pitch the hitters had trouble picking up making it a pitch he could use late in counts to put hitters away.

John Phillip (JP) Abt (2025 SS, Brandon, MS) got the offense rolling early for Southeast as he led the game off with a triple in the right center field gap. He was able to take advantage of a pitch up in the zone out over the plate and drive it where it was pitched, getting good extension through contact to split the gap for extra bases.

Jack Lloyd (2024 SS, Cumming, GA) opened the scoring for Team Southeast in his first at bat, coming through with a big hit with runners in scoring position. The uncommitted senior shortstop did a nice job of staying simple with his approach and driving a fastball on the outer half the other way for a double while controlling the bat head with some strength in the hands.

Coy Clements (2024 C, Hattiesburg, MS) continued to be a big contributor for the Southeast offense on day two. The Southern Miss commit got his Sunday started with a triple to the opposite field to drive in two runs. He does a nice job of maintaining his barrel plane with strength in the top hand. That strength also plays into his punch at the point of contact allowing him to impact the baseball to all fields.

Jake Canales (2025 3B, Corinth, TX) stayed hot on day two with the bat as he drove in the first runs of the day for his South club. He was able to jump a fastball at the top of the zone driving to straight away center field, burning the center fielder and plating two runs in the process. He continues to do a good job of using the big part of the field while staying balanced with his approach and getting to a strong base at the point of contact.

The change has nice fading action in the upper 70’s while the slider, more effective to right-handed hitters showed some depth with an ability to create swing and miss.

Charlie Wortham (2025 C, St. Peters, MO) led the game off for the west with a double. He was able to get himself into a fastball count and hunt the mid 80’s heater putting an aggressive swing on it. He did a nice job getting the bat head out front to drive the baseball down the line in left field for extra bases. He added another double to the pull side in his second at bat driving a ball into left center field. He capped off his day with his most impressive swing on a long two run home run over the wall in left.

Loften Hinklin (2025 RHP, Gilbert, AZ) worked some efficient innings on the mound as he came out attacking hitters with a quality two pitch mix. He did a nice job of getting ahead of hitters with hit mid 80’s fastball that topped out at 87 mph with arm side run and some sinking action in the bottom part of the zone. The depth he creates on the slider tunnels well off his fastball giving the ability to create swing and miss on the glove side of the plate.

Caden Birch (2025 SS, Reno, NV) put his West club on the scoreboard with a ringing double off the wall in left center field. He showed good balance and connection to the swing getting the barrel out front with good extension through contact to drive in a pair of runs.

Reagan Samples (2025 1B, Fontana, CA) provided some insurance for his West club with a smoked double to straight away center field. He was able to control the bat head well through the top of the zone matching plane and staying through the elevated heater to burn the center fielder and drive in a run. He also showed some heads up baserunning to take the extra base on an overthrow getting himself to third base.

Bryce Duszak (2024 C, Appleton, WI) was a late bright spot for the North offensively as he found a barrel and drove a fastball through the left center field gap for a double. He was able to get his hands to the inner half as he went down to get a fastball at the bottom of the zone hammering it to the pull side gap.

Caleb Jones (2025 SS, Riverview, MI) drove in the first run of the game for the North team as he picked up an extra base hit with a runner in scoring position. He got himself in a favorable count and split the left center field with a ball that found its way to the wall and allowed Jones to show off his 6.7 speed as he motored into third with a triple.

Kelvin Jones Jr. (2025 1B, Chicago, IL) capped off the late offensive outburst for the North squad with a backside double. The left, left junior first base prospect got a fastball out over the plate and was able to keep the front side down as he one hopped the wall in the left center field gap for a double to drive in a run.

Timothy Leark (2025 OF, Oak Park, IL) wasted no time getting the North’s offense going in game two as he drove a ball early in the count the other way for a lead off double. Owen Sherrill (2025 C, Houston, TX) opened the scoring with a loud double off the wall in left center field. The physical catcher got to a strong balanced position at the point of contact and was able to create some leverage as he back spun the ball with easy carry to drive in a run.

Cole Miller (2024 RHP, Austin, TX) showed a live arm on the mound in his two innings of work. The uncommitted senior ran his fastball up to 88 mph a handful of times while sitting consistently in the mid 80’s. Off of the fastball he showed two distinct breaking balls with a horizontal slider in the mid 70’s and curveball he could go to for swing in miss with bigger tow plane shape in the low 70’s.

Blaze Milam (2024 RHP, Liberty Hill, TX) got the start on the mound for the South team and found some success with his fastball when he was able to locate up in the zone with some riding life and arm side run. He paired the fastball with a mid 70’s slider to help him keep hitters off the fastball as he worked three innings.

Reggie Sharpe (2024 SS, Grosse Pointe Park, MI) followed up an impressive round of batting practice with a double in game two. The Michigan State commit put the bat to ball skills on display driving a ball deep in the opposite field gap for a double. He does a nice job of staying connected with his swing and creating leverage at the point of contact to create backspin on the ball flight. He added two punch-out's on the mound with the fastball up to 83 mph.

Eddie Rogers (2024 RHP, Lincolnton, NC) got the ball in game one for Coastal on the mound and showed an aggressive approach coming at the hitters early in counts with the fastball. He ran the fastball up to 89 mph while living in the upper 80’s mostly. He mixed in a short slider in the mid 70’s as well as a straight change with good change of pace in the upper 70’s to round out his three pitch mix.

Travis Maxwell (2024 RHP, Yorba Linda, CA) was very efficient in his innings of work as he worked three scoreless with two punch-out's. He maintained the fastball velocity in the mid 80’s throughout, topping out at 87 mph. The curveball was his go to weapon later in counts as a put away pitch showing tight spin into the 2300 rpm range.

Micah Ott (2025 3B, Melbourne, FL) showcased some solid arm talent in his two innings on the mound. The uncommitted junior right hander lived in the mid 80’s, reaching back and running it up to 88 mph at his best with an ability to get some swing and miss. He also showed a low 70’s breaker as his primary off speed.

Austin Dean (2025 LHP, Alexandria, VA) continues to show tremendous upside on the mound with his combination of projection and present stuff. The Virginia Tech commit was up to 91 mph with his fastball consistently in the first inning and lived in the upper 80’s for all three. He showed solid depth on the slider as a quality breaking ball and even mixed in a changeup for a third pitch.

Kaiden Sziy (2025 RHP, Houston, TX) did a nice job limiting the Coastal offense when he was in the zone. The combination of the fastball plane and ability to throw a true 12-6 breaking ball gave hitters fits. He was able to throw the fastball through the top of the zone early in counts, setting the hitters eyes up for the curveball that fell through the zone with later depth.

Jake Canales (2025 3B, Corinth, TX) jumped a fastball up in the zone and drove a ball over the center field fence for one of the more impressive swings on the day. He was able to stay on top of the fastball with the barrel getting through it with good extension for a two run home run to the biggest part of the yard.

Day 1 Pool B Game Highlights

10/14/2023

Leo Lyons (2025, Milton, MA) threw three shutout innings for Team East where he ran into very little trouble or traffic. His fastball sat in the low 80s where he was consistently in-zone with it. Hitters had a tough time picking up his upper 60s breaker that got both late buckle and whiffs on.

Jacob Gilbert (2025, Mckinney, TX) gave up two runs but showed solid stuff in his three innings of work on the mound. He ran his fastball up to 88 and after a shaky 1st inning work his slider really showed well exhibiting sharp late depth that produced some chase whiff.

Robert Hamman (2024, Dallas, TX) was dominant through three shutout innings where he gave up just one hit and struck out five. He showed a mid 80s fastball that he wasn’t afraid to work in on right-handed hitters. The story of his outing was the standout feel he has for his larger breaking ball that induced a ton of buckled takes and chase strikeouts.

Maddox Sommers (2024, Dallas. GA) had a solid two-way game getting through three quality innings and added a opposite field line drive in South Eastern’s night game. Sommers is a crafty LHP working from a sidearm slot and got off barrels with a mid 70s sinker that generated a ton of weak contact.

Jackson Melanson (2025, Boerne, TX) showed one of the better sliders of the day in his three shutout innings where he used it at a high rate with it garnering a ton of whiffs. His fastball worked up to 84 early and his slider sat in the mid-upper 70s showing sharp and late bite.

Jake Lenahan (2024, South Abington, PA) showed off some quality two-way ability in his two games where he had a double into the left-center gap in Game 1 and pitched three quality innings in Game 2. On the mound it’s a fluid operation that ran the fastball up to 86 while mixing in a developing low 70s breaker.

Jason Durrett (2025, Tomball, TX) might have had the offensive performance of the day collecting two pullside HRs, one in each game. The first was a line shot down the left-field that just got out. His second was a more towering shot to left that cleared the fence by a bit more than his previous. From just his swings from today there was some obvious out front intent that paired well today with a lofty bat path.

Carson Luna (2024, Houston, TX) crushed a homer over the LF wall. The Texas commit has a real simple swing/process at the plate showing a fast and direct bat that consistently shows easy juice off the barrel.

Charlie Graves (2025, Fayetteville, AR) had his own no-doubt shot for team SouthEast. He didn’t miss a middle-middle FB, got extended and crushed it over the LF wall showing off some present pullside power.

Christian Turner (2025, La Porte, TX) showed why he is an Arkansas commit with a loud pullside HR in SouthEast’s night game where he dropped barrel on a low-in fastball that he got all of. There’s easy rhythm and balance to his smooth LH swing where he just allows his quick hands to play.
