Mid-Atlantic All Region & Top Tools

The Mid-Atlantic Region lost its only Perfect Game All-American when catcher Andrew Costello left his Pennsylvania high school early and enrolled at Wake Forest for the spring semester.  The Region ends up being dominated by underclassmen, with seven juniors and even a pair of talented sophomores getting recognition.

The story of the spring could very well be watching the young power arms in the Region come outdoors and show their talents on the mound.  Pennsylvania juniors Cole Kuhn and Trent Lutz have been getting lots of off-season attention along with New Jersey senior Alex Weingartner.

New Jersey has a trio of high schools represented in the Perfect Game Pre-Season Top 50 High School Rankings.  Delbarton HS, behind a very strong junior class, leads the group at 29th overall, followed DePaul Catholic HS at 41st and Gloucester Catholic at 46th.

C – Braeden Lipoff (Sr., Gloucester Catholic HS, N.J.)

Lipoff has been the starting catcher the last two years for the strong Gloucester Catholic HS team and has been very productive, hitting .398-3-23 as a sophomore and .474-3-29 with 11 doubles as a junior.  He also brings high level defensive skills to the catching position with a strong arm and advanced receiving skills.  Lipoff is signed with East Carolina.

1B – Jordan Burwell (Sr., Seton Hall Prep, N.J.)

Burwell is a strong and athletic 6-2/205 left-handed hitter who simply mashed at all levels throughout 2025.  The West Virginia signee let the Seton Hall Prep offense by hitting .478-5-30 in 24 games and continued throughout the summer posting .394-5-34 numbers in 33 games in PG play.

MIF –  Leo Nockley (Jr., Wyoming Seminary College Prep, Penn.)

Nockley isn’t a big athlete at 5-8/165 but he has significant compact strength for his size and posts exit velocities that are shocking in context.  A left-handed hitter, Nockley hit .362-3-19 in 21 games with 24 walks and 20 steals as a sophomore at Wyoming Seminary College Prep, which might be considered a slump after he hit .537 as a freshman.  The 22nd ranked prospect nationally in the 2027 class, Nockley is committed to Tennessee.

MIF – Jason Amalbert (Sr., DePaul Catholic HS, N.J.)

Amalbert has the whole tool box with outstanding right-handed bat speed, a low to mid-90’s arm with long-term middle infield actions and 6.7 speed and could probably make a good case for being ranked higher than his current 95th slot nationally.  The Oklahoma commit pretty much dominated games in PG play last summer, hitting .460-7-26 in 25 games after posting similar .470-9-32 numbers during the spring.

3B – Graham Keen (Jr., Mt. Lebanon HS, Penn.)

Keen is one of the top two-way juniors in the country, with a fastball that can touch 94 mph from the left side and big and projectable power at the plate.  The 26th ranked player in the 2027 class, Keen fits best on this All-Region team at third base.

OF – Anderson Lambert (Jr., McDonogh HS, Mary.)

Lambert has a nice balance of tools and big physical projection, especially with his right-handed bat.  The Alabama commit has 6.7 speed and a low 90’s arm from the outfield and a long history of hitting at PG events.  He’s ranked 61st overall in the 2027 class.

OF – Finnian O'Loughlin (Jr., Delbarton HS, N.J.)

O’Loughlin has been on the prospect map since he was selected for the 2023 Perfect Game 14U Select Festival and has continued to improve in all areas since then.  His most impressive present tool is his right-handed power and overall bat speed, which was highlighted when he hit a huge home run over the batter’s eye at the WWBA World Championships last October.  An Alabama commit, O’Loughlin hit 368-3-16 in 25 games in 2025 PG play.

OF – Luke Williams (Sr., Franklin Regional HS, Penn.)

Williams battled injuries last summer but is one of the most tooled up players in the country with elite level arm strength both at shortstop and in the outfield and 6.3 speed in the sixty.  He’s the 36th ranked player in the 2026 class and is signed with Vanderbilt.  A strong spring with the bat and good health could make him explode up draft lists.

LHP – Greyson Bell (So., Daniel Boone HS, Penn.)

The 6-2/175 Bell is one of the few sophomores on any of the 12 All-Region Teams but has a long resume already and a very promising future.  A three-time Select Festival athlete who also pitched for the USA Baseball 15U National Team in 2025, Bell is ranked 16th nationally in the 2028 class.  He works in the 88-91 mph range for now with more coming and uses an upper 70’s slider as his strike out pitch.

RHP – Daniel Kellis (Sr., Radnor HS, Penn.)

Kellis has a big power pitcher’s body at 6-5/230 and a power pitcher’s present fastball.  He can sit in the mid-90’s and top out at 96 mph with big sinking and cutting action that works under barrels effectively.  He is signed with Wake Forest.

RHP – Cole Kuhn (Jr., St. Joseph’s Prep, Penn.)

Kuhn is a 6-6/195 right-hander who appears to have exploded this off-season and has a chance to be a fast riser up the rankings this spring and summer, especially as he will be still 16 years old all spring and much of the summer.  The Duke commit topped out at 93 mph at the WWBA World Championships last October but has been touching triple digits in workouts leading up to the 2026 season.

RHP – Trent Lutz (Jr., Souderton Area HS, Penn.)

Lutz is a lower case version of Cole Kuhn (above) as a young Pennsylvania right-hander who has made huge strides this winter.  The 6-4/175 Penn State commit ended 2025 by topping out at 94 mph at the WWBA World Championships but has regularly been up to 96-97 mph according to reports coming out of Pennsylvania.  Lutz posted a 1.93 ERA as a sophomore with 43 strikeouts and only 8 walks in 32 innings of work.

LHP – Sean Loggie (Sr., Christian Brothers Academy, N.J.)

Loggie looks the part of the classic young pitching prospect at 6-6/195 and has quality present stuff that could have another step coming.  He works in the low 90’s with his fastball and tops out at 94 mph with both his slider and change up being quality secondary pitches.  Loggie is signed with Virginia.

UT – Alex Weingartner (Sr., St. Augustine Prep, N.J.)

Weingartner was considered a primary pitcher with a fastball in the 90-94 mph range to go with a full four-pitch mix and plenty of feel for pitching.  But for the last year he’s been making more noise as a position prospect.  First, the Penn State commit hit .397-6-31 last spring for St. Augustine Prep, then came back and hit .420-5-16 in 22 games of PG play last summer.

Mid-Atlantic Region Top Tools

Best Hitter for Average: Jason Amalbert (Sr., DePaul Catholic HS, N.J.)

Amalbert has simply hit everywhere he’s played in the last year and has the strength and raw bat speed to continue to improve.

Best Hitter for Power: Finnian O'Loughlin (Jr., Delbarton HS, N.J.)

O’Loughlin’s power is going to be fun to watch develop over the next two seasons.  Not only does he have strength and bat speed, he can be very aggressive in attacking pitches to get to that power.  Graham Keen and his left-handed leverage is a close second in this category.

Best Runner: Alex Weingartner (Sr., St. Augustine Prep, N.J.)

Weingartner has definitely raised his stock with the scouting community this off-season with his rapidly improving tool set, with his speed really standing out.

Best Defensive Catcher: Mickey Gilligan (Sr., Passaic Co Tech, N.J.)

Gilligan has all the components of a high-level defensive catcher with his athleticism and exceptionally strong throwing arm.  A left-handed hitter who is signed with Rutgers, his ceiling will be determined by how much his bat develops at the college level.

Best Defensive Infielder: Leo Nockley (Jr., Wyoming Seminary College Prep, Penn.)

Nockley has outstanding actions at shortstop highlighted by his quick-twitch athleticism and confident glove actions.  He may end up at second base for size and arm reasons but he’ll be outstanding there as well.

Best Defensive Outfielder: Luke Williams (Sr., Franklin Regional HS, Penn.)

Williams 6.3 speed and 98 mph outfield arm make him an obvious choice given his multi-positional skills and tools.

Best Defensive Arm: Luke Williams (Sr., Franklin Regional HS, Penn.)

Williams’ physical tools continue to stand out and be recognized in this Region.

Best Fastball: Cole Kuhn (Jr., St. Joseph’s Prep, Penn.)

Indoor off-season workout velocity readings can be deceptive at times but Kuhn’s whole package of size and age makes his off-season accomplishments extremely impressive nonetheless.  There will be lots of eyes on him early this spring, especially for a junior.

Best Off-Speed Stuff: Sean Loggie (Sr., Christian Brothers Academy, N.J.)

Loggie throws both a conventional short power slider with late bite, plus a cutter off his low 90’s fastball and does so from an extended ¾’s arm slot that creates difficult angle for hitters.  His change up is pretty advanced for his age as well.

Best Pitchability: Greyson Bell (So., Daniel Boone HS, Penn.)

Bell has unusual polish and command for his age and it will be interesting to watch as he matures physically and improves his raw stuff.

Pacific Northwest All Region & Top Tools

NORTHWEST REGION (WA, OR, ID, WY, AK, MT, HI)    The biggest change in the Northwest Region for 2026 is the addition of Hawaii, which has always been overlooked due to being lumped with California in the former Pacific Region.  This also coincides with an increased Perfect Game presence in the islands in the form of additional events and scouting.  And Hawaii certainly contributed in it’s first year, placing four players on the All-Region team, including slugging 2026 outfielder Judah Ota. The powerhouse Puyallup HS team is the only Northwest Region team to be represented in the PG Pre-Season Top 50 National HS Rankings, beginning the year ranked 26th.  C – Teagan Scott (Sr., South Salem HS, Ore.) Scott has been on the prospect map since he played in the 2023 PG 14U Select Festival and is signed with Oregon State.  A right-handed hitter with lots...

Then vs. Now: '26 Class Look Back

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
One constant across our scouting staff is the volume of in-person looks we get at prospects during their high school years. With assignments at national tournaments and showcases throughout the calendar, we’ve built a deep library of reports and video on many of today’s top college prospects dating back to their prep days. This week, we took a step back to revisit what those players looked like as high school prospects. Which tools stood out? What was missing from the profile at the time? And what, if anything, did we overlook that ultimately helped shape the player they’ve become? Below, we break down 10 players in a “Then and Now” reflection. Justin Lebron (23 FL) finishes off the tournament getting in on the hit parade with a single to the pullside. #PGShowdown #Bama commit pic.twitter.com/C4Irym2ZTR — Perfect Game Scout (@PG_Scouting) March 4, 2023...

Grady Emerson (‘26 TX) laces this ball to right for a walk off single. Clean lefty stroke. Looks the part both sides of the ball. Checks all the boxes. Will be scouted heavily this Spring. #PGHS #HookEm commit. #PGDraft pic.twitter.com/wXvdHdgqME — Perfect Game Texas (@Texas_PG) February 6, 2026 Grady Emerson (2026, Argyle, Texas) had a strong showing throughout the opening week of high school baseball out here in Texas. Works good at-bats and is always a tough out in general. Makes all the plays at short and just has the look of a future big leaguer. He does all the little things right. Bat to ball will play at a high level and there is still a lot more power to project on here. There is a reason why Emerson is one of, if not the most highly coveted high school prospect in the 2026 class and it’s easy to see why. Currently committed to Texas, but has the potential to...

BURLINGTON, IA - Perfect Game Softball Winter One Day Tournament, February 15, 2026. Twelve teams, split between the 16u and 18u divisions, participated in this event.  With two pool games, and then a move into single elimination bracket play,  some players used this tournament as  their last warm-up before kicking off their high school seasons, while others were tuning up for the busy Spring and Summer travel season. In the 16u division, it was the Iowa Aries 16u Ce Fire Red taking the championship, with Southeast Iowa Allstars 18u Gold Miller earning the crown in the 18u division. Below are write-ups from observations made during the day, as due to a software glitch, there were no stats available to complete a Top Performers list. 16U Division  Earning the MV-Pitcher Award, as selected by her coaches, was Aurora Widlund (2029 Altoona, IA) of tournament champion Iowa...

DIII Rankings: February 18

Every spring, Division III baseball begins as a wide-open map. Cold mornings turn into long bus rides, non-conference gauntlets test resolve, and by the time the dust settles, only a few teams are still standing with a clear line to the NCAA Division III baseball tournament. The 2026 Perfect Game Division III Baseball Rankings capture that moment before the stretch run, highlighting the programs that have separated themselves through depth, durability, and an ability to win in a variety of ways. These eight teams are not simply piling up wins; they are shaping identities built to survive the grind and thrive when the margins narrow.  The destination is familiar, even if the journey never is. Once again, the final chapter will be written at Classic Park, where timing, composure, and roster balance matter as much as raw talent. The teams ranked here enter 2026 with more than ambition....

Just a couple of weeks into the 2026 season, several teams have already hit the ground running, namely Walters State, Florida Southwestern, Chipola, Johnson County, Florence-Darlington, and Pearl River. A little further down the rankings, we’ve seen some significant movement. The College of Southern Nevada surged up several spots after a strong 12-2 start, while Gaston has turned heads with an unblemished 14-0 record. We also welcome a few new additions in the 20s: Fresno City and Panola. Neither program debuted inside our top 50, but both have certainly earned their place in this week’s rankings. We’re looking forward to another exciting week of early spring baseball, as teams across the country continue to find their rhythm before conference play begins. Rk. Ohio Valley All Region & Top Tools

OHIO VALLEY REGION (IL, IN, KY, MI, OH) The Ohio Valley Region has a healthy amount of top-level talent, as it features five Perfect Game All-Americans in shortstop Ethan Bass, third baseman TJ McQuillan, two-way stand out Matt Ponatoski and right-handed pitchers Shawn Sullivan and Grayson Willoughby.  The 2027 class looks very strong as well, especially in Illinois. A couple of things are missing from the Ohio Valley All-Region team, though.  The first is the two best outfielders in the region, as 2027 Illinois outfielder Sebastian Wilson is attending IMG Academy in Florida and fellow 2027 outfielder Noah Goettke from Ohio is attending P27 Academy in South Carolina.  Also missing are any players from Michigan, which enjoyed a dominant run of top prospects in recent years largely behind the Lake Orchard St. Mary’s HS program.  2027 catcher Broder Katke (Brother...
