All-Star Game Continues To Thrive

We’re only a couple of years into having the PG All-Star Game around, an underclass event attached to the All-American weekend, this year played in Petco two days before the Classic. The talent that is a part of it continues to grow to significant levels, and this year was a mix of young guys and some newer names that left lasting impressions. The two hardest throwing guys in the game were the only 2028s in attendance, Striker Pence and Dexter McCleon Jr who both were upper-90s as guys who just started their sophomore year, while the loudest moment of the day came when Kinon Bastian obliterated a pitch into the top deck of the famous Western Supply building in left field, something that we’ll remember for a long time.




Extra Swings In The All-American Derby

One of the best events every All-American weekend is getting to see these guys with special abilities let it eat in an attempt to take home some hardware before the game even starts. This year, it was a two-man race between a couple entirely different players: massively physical with huge left-handed juice Eric Booth Jr. and hyper athlete who lives on the barrel, but you wouldn’t think would be there at 5’9/165 Jaxson Wood. Wood put up double digit bombs, only to be matched at the buzzer by Booth, who would eventually win it in the extras.


West Rallies To Win The Classic

It was fairly quiet offensively early on outside of Jorvorskie Lane Jr nearly going yard off Sims as he went 105/386 to left-center, but it picked up in the middle innings as guys would come through in big spots to drive in runs, including Cole Prosek who had two different RBI singles and took home MVP honors as a result. The game saw 12 different pitchers touch 95 or better, including Shawn Sullivan who blew 96 MPH on the final fastball of the game to win it.

Mother Nature Takes Action in Fort Myers; Players Raise $38,000 for Golisano

To get this out of the way early, yes the weather had a big impact on the 2025 14u Select Festival, but given the long weekend of on field action, players were still able to leave their impact not only on the field, but also throughout the community as they raised a nearly $38,000 with all proceeds going to the Golisano Children's Hospital with Chance Kidd atop the leaderboard at $10,000 raised. Throughout the course of the four day event, 48 players from across the country, alongside Venezuela and Puerto Rico, took the field and impressed with North Carolina's own Andrew Brown creating the first fireworks of the weekend during the prelims of the home run derby. Not only did Brown move on to the finals, he did it in a convincing manner, launching balls further, and more frequently, than we had ever seen before. 

Brown carried the momentum into game day, taking home the Derby title with a couple majestic blasts over the Green Monster down at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida, setting the scene for some impressive things still to come. While the 14u Festival only made it through 5 full innings, five of the eleven arms to toe the rubber bumped at least 90 mph, led by Texas right-hander Caleb Polk and his 92 mph bullet which he used to help strike out a pair in his inning of work. Left-hander Greyson Bell, the 14u Pitcher of the Year, got the start and immediately impressed, punching a pair while running his heater up to 91 mph with real command and advanced feel for his secondary offerings which included a hard, late biting upper-70s breaker. 

Pitching was definitely the strength of the shortened game, but both Noah Jarolimek and Xavier Rodriguez made their presence known as as the North Carolina product doubled deep to center field while Rodriguez, a Georgian catcher, collected the lone multi-hit game with a pair of singles while driving in a run. It was the East who ultimately took home the victory with a score of 5 to 1 over the West as they doubled them up on hits as well with 6 to their 3. 

Hardware was presented the night prior at the Awards Banquet dinner with Macgraw Vanwormer hearing his name called as the Player of the Year, Greyson Bell for the Pitcher of the Year and Jordan Leon as the Two-Way Player of the Year. The 2025 crop also saw the addition of 4 players who completed the Festival gauntlet in Cameron Hockett, Carter Nash, Tre' Lawrence and Braiden Miller, meaning they received the call every August from 11u all the way through 14u, making a Festival every step of the way. 

Charlottesville Becomes Center of 13u Baseball World

For the second year in a row, the 13u Select Festival called Charlottesville home as 40 of the most talented 13u players from around the country descended upon the University of Virginia for a 4 day weekend full of non-stop on field action and activities away from the Dish. With 17 different states represented amongst both rosters, from Washington state to New York, down to Florida and back over to the west coast in California, we saw some familiar faces with multiple players appearing in either their second or third Festival already, but also plenty of first timers, including the eventual MVP Tucker Richardson out of Alabama.

Once again we were partnered with the UVA Children’s Hospital in the player's fundraising efforts, raising north of $20,000 for the families who have children currently in the hospital, helping with day-to-day expenses while receiving treatments. 

Stepping foot on the Dish for the first time certainly brought out the player's phones, capturing the moment before getting to work with a full practice and home run derby prelims. Swinging the Soldier Tank, players were launching balls OVER the bleachers out in left field and clearing the concourse walk way in right field with ease, getting us down to our final four though it felt like Kingston George's to lose, something he wouldn't falter on as he continued to send blast after blast out to left field, securing the crown. 

The game itself was a crisp on that saw the East come out ahead 4-3, taking the lead in the top of the 7th while receiving timely hitting and quality pitching throughout. After scoring a run in the second and a pair in the third, the West fought back with a three-spot of their own in the 4th inning before both teams exchanged zeroes on the board for the next two frames. The big knock of the game came courtesy of Richardson, delivering a deep drive to the left-center field gap that hopped over the wall for a ground-rule double, though both Luca Briggs and Calvin Madenspacher also added a double of their own. 

Of the 14 arms to toe the rubber, nine were at least 85 mph or better with their peak fastball, led by Kingston George's 90 mph heater, though West start Christian Choe's 88 wasn't far behind, nor were the 87s from Amani Tuiasosopo, Jhunior Jose Cordero, and Tucker Richardson, who closed it out for the East on just 15 pitches to secure the victory.

Prior to the first pitch, the players and families gathered Saturday night for the Awards Banquet dinner, hearing from Perfect Game and Select Festival alum alike, while also learning who would take home some Player of the Year honors. Ultimately it was Mark Thompson who was tabbed as the 13u Player of the Year, Noah Osterman, the East starting pitcher, who was the 13u Pitcher of the Year and Jhunior Jose Cordero who was absolutely ridiculous on both sides of the ball, earning the Two-Way Player of the Year award. 11u & 12u Festival Impress Once Again

The historic East Cobb complex in Marietta, GA was once again the epicenter of youth travel baseball, as 64 of the best 11 & 12U players enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience after being named to the Perfect Game Select Festival. A culmination of their past years accolades and accomplishments starts with a gear reveal, where their beds are covered with a plethora of items that include custom uniforms, Bruce Bolt Batting Gloves, a Soldier Tank bat along with other items from several Perfect Game partners like Yeti, G-Form and Rawlings.

Throughout the event, the players partake in various activities such as a trip to Dave & Busters, a ping pong tournament and, of course, their respective ages awards banquet. Not to be lost amongst the exciting events leading up to the Festival Game is the players fundraising efforts. For the second year in a row, the Elite Development Academy based out of Tampa, Florida was both the 11 & 12U Fundraising beneficiary.

This fundraiser supports essential wraparound services for deserving, needs-based athletes that enter the EDA through nomination, including academic tutoring, mental performance coaching, college readiness support, family engagement, and year-round mentorship. Your support helps ensure that every child in our program has the resources they need to thrive both on the field and in life. Program Director Spencer Nunez and Derek Del Rosal represented the EDA Academy at each of the banquets and presented awards to our highest fundraisers per Age Group. In total between both the 11 & 12U players, they raised nearly $10,000.

Now let’s get to the game action, as the 11U Group got things started on Saturday with a thrilling back and forth affair that saw the West squad come out with an 8-7 victory. Owen Klaus took home the Lucas Oil Player of the Game, as the Perryville, Missouri native collected a double, homer along with closing out the victory with a scoreless inning on the mound. It was a well-played, relatively clean contest with tons of young talent on display.

Their 12U brethren took the field on Sunday with monster talent littered across both rosters, as the future generations of baseball will be in great hands with some of these players leading the way. In a game which saw seven pitchers throw pitches at 80 mph or above including a game high of 85 mph from Angel Garcia, the East roster came away with a 10-6 victory over the West. Brayden Nims took home the Lucas Oil Player of the Game honors after going 2-for-2 at the plate with the big blow being an absolute No-Doubt Grand Slam that put his squad ahead for good. The amount of talent on display was simply electrifying and brings to light the expansive platform that Perfect Game fosters within youth amateur baseball.

14u Select Festival Turns Ten

You want to talk about something surreal? Back in 2016, we put together a roster of 40 players, divided to 20 apiece between East and West, with no qualification other than "play in one Perfect Game event" and all players must be born after May 1 of 2001. On top of that, there were significantly less national events at the 14u level, consisting almost exclusively of the 14u WWBA and the 14u World Series, with some other events sprinkled in and players who were eligible, playing up at 15u and 16u events. OHIO VALLEY REGION (IL, IN, KY, MI, OH) The Ohio Valley Region has a healthy amount of top-level talent, as it features five Perfect Game All-Americans in shortstop Ethan Bass, third baseman TJ McQuillan, two-way stand out Matt Ponatoski and right-handed pitchers Shawn Sullivan and Grayson Willoughby.  The 2027 class looks very strong as well, especially in Illinois. Perfect Game/Player of the Week: Tyce Armstrong, IF, Baylor Opening Day always has a special feel with the sights, sounds and smells bringing back memories of days gone by. NORTHEAST REGION (NY, CT, MA, RI, VT, NH, ME)  The strength of the Northeast Region in 2026 is the number of high ceiling power arms, led by potential upper-90’s throwers in left-hander Brody Bumila and right-hander Bryce Hill.  The depth of quality pitching is such that two of the top pitchers in the 2028 class, right handers Gavin Chakar (Norwalk HS, Conn.) and Dylan Cunningham (Austin Prep, Mass.) didn’t have a spot on the team.  The weakness of the Region is the increasing number of players who leave to play baseball and continue their school work at Academy programs in the South.  Numerous players that fit under that umbrella would have a place on the All-Northeast Region if they weren’t in Florida or the Carolinas. It was incredible Opening Weekend across the nation with numerous upsets, tightly contested series’ and dominating sweeps. Beyond that, there were generational individual performances, lockdown pitching appearances and record-breaking runs scored as well. It feels like we have been saying this every year for the past decade, but our game is alive and well. More and more programs are getting massive returns on their investments and the fans are turning out in record numbers to see college baseball in its Golden Era. The Mid-Atlantic Region lost its only Perfect Game All-American when catcher Andrew Costello left his Pennsylvania high school early and enrolled at Wake Forest for the spring semester.  The Region ends up being dominated by underclassmen, with seven juniors and even a pair of talented sophomores getting recognition. The story of the spring could very well be watching the young power arms in the Region come outdoors and show their talents on the mound.  Pennsylvania juniors Cole Kuhn and Trent Lutz have been getting lots of off-season attention along with New Jersey senior Alex Weingartner. Coastal All Region & Top Tools

COASTAL REGION (NC, SC, VA, WV)  The first thing that stands out about the players on the Coastal Region team is that this is undoubtedly the fastest All-Region Team in the country.  There are four or five players who could legitimately have 80 grades on their running speed from the region and all have other tools to back up their speed. Another thing that jumps out is the quality of the juniors on the team.  While the region features only one 2025 PG All-American in left-handed pitcher Carson Bolemon, there are six juniors on the All-Region team who are ranked in the top 34 in the 2027 class, with plenty more talented underclassmen just behind them.  Three region high schools break into the Top 50 in the Perfect Game Pre-Season High School Rankings.  Charlotte Catholic at 33rd overall and Metrolina Christian Academy at 42nd represent the North Carolina schools...
