2019 Top Prospects

CJ Mayhue  LHP - 2019 - Shelby, NC
East Carolina

Mayhue's athleticism and hitting tools stand out right away and give him a legitimate two-way player upside at the next level, as the primary lefthanded pitcher also has a live fastball that reached 90 mph with significant angle to the plate as well as good life.

Chad Heiner  RHP - 2019 - Huntington, WV
Marshall

Heiner was excellent on the mound in this event, running his fastball up to 87 mph with good plane and command and showing some of the best feel for spin of the event as well, working in both a late-breaking sharp slider and a true downer curveball, missing bats with all 3 pitches.

Christian Gordon  LHP - 2019 - Monroe, VA
Liberty University

Gordon opened the event on the mound and was excellent, creating excellent angle from an extended 3/4 slot and pounding his 82-86 mph fastball to both sides of the plate, going right after hitters. He also mixed in a good slider that he landed for strikes.

Pres Cavenaugh  OF - 2019 - Charlotte, NC
UNC-Greensboro

Cavenaugh ran a 6.89 second 60 yard dash time to open his event and was very good from that moment on, showing off that athleticism on the base paths and in the outfield, and then showing some of the better hitting tools of the event with a loose, whippy swing and excellent power projection.

Zach Stanko  3B - 2019 - Toano, VA
Longwood

Stanko took one of the louder rounds of batting practice with intent to do damage, driving the baseball consistently deep to the pull side as well as looking good in the infield defensively, complementing his good actions with an 85 mph arm across the diamond.

Blake Doggett  1B - 2019 - Richmond, VA
Randolph-Macon College

Doggett has some of the more impressive physical strength we've seen at a showcase this year and there is good athleticism there as well, as he shows good defensive actions at 1B, an 82 mph arm from the mound, and supreme strength/bat speed at the plate that has high power upside at the next level.

Kameron Evans  RHP - 2019 - Kernersville, NC
Guilford Technical CC

Evans showed off interesting abilities in several facets, first by taking a loud batting practice with a good combo of bat speed and strength then showing clean defensive actions in the middle infield. He also got on the mound and worked up to 83 mph with good life and an excellent changeup.

Jose Vargas  SS - 2019 - Harrisburg, NC
Catawba Valley CC

Vargas has very good actions defensively with solid range and great hands to go along with a quality arm from the middle infield, and he was a player who stood out far more in games than in workouts, consistently finding the barrel offensively and making good player after good play on defense.

Jack Masonis  OF - 2019 - Charlotte, NC
Emory

Masonis showed real arm strength in the outfield by throwing up to 85 mph and he also has solid athleticism that serves him well at the position in addition to quality hitting tools that work the ball to all fields as well as interesting utility on the mound with a fastball up to 81 mph.

Corey Leadenham  SS - 2019 - Virginia Beach, VA
George Mason

Leadenham stood out through the event, working out in several positions and showing arm strength at each one, taking a loud batting practice round complete with excellent jump off the barrel, and then getting on the mound and pounding the zone up to 83 mph with his fastball.


2020 Top Prospects

Duncan Howard  RHP - 2020 - Kernersville, NC
Presbyterian

Howard really stands out on the mound with outstanding physical projection and a fast arm, working his fastball up to 84 mph with good plane and command along with a solid curveball. He also showed off some raw power and bat speed at the plate as well as an 85 mph arm from the outfield.

Tyler Cotten  C - 2020 - Yorktown, VA
University of North Carolina-Charlotte

Cotten stood out all-around all weekend long, showing off advanced feel for the game to go along with good tools as well. He looks good behind the plate with a strong arm and good athleticism, and shows off excellent bat speed and strength at the plate as well.

Sean Seale  OF - 2020 - Waxhaw, NC
Walters State CC

Seale showed off some loud tools in this one, including a 6.94 second 60 yard dash time, an 87 mph arm from the outfield, and some serious bat speed and power at the plate. He combines bat speed, strength, and leverage to create prodigious raw power to the pull side.

Gavin Mortenson  SS - 2020 - Summerfield, NC
Western Carolina

Mortenson really stood out in several facets over the weekend, taking perhaps the best infield workout of the event with very smooth actions and excellent hands with a quick release, as well as showing excellent projection on the mound with a whippy arm up to 84 mph on the fastball with a good curveball as well.

Shemar Dalton  OF - 2020 - Walnut Cove, NC
North Carolina A&T

Dalton showed off his athleticism with a 6.75 second 60 yard dash, then showed off significant arm strength during defensive drills by throwing 87 mph from the OF and then 82 mph across the infield. He also has big offensive upside with lots of bat speed and present feel for the barrel.

Jackson Dempsey  C - 2020 - Greensboro, NC
Uncommitted

Dempsey was a very consistent performer behind the plate with solid fundamentals and repeatable actions to go along with a good, accurate arm; and he also has intriguing raw power at the plate with a strong, quick stroke that can drive the ball deep pull side.

Cameron Barefoot  OF - 2020 - Dunn, NC
Campbell

Barefoot took a good round of BP with a high-contact, whole-field approach that keeps his barrel in the zone for a good amount of time and covers the plate well. He also ran a 6.83 second 60 yard dash and showed good actions in the OF along with an 82 mph arm.

Caleb Cross  RHP - 2020 - Sanford, NC
UNC-Asheville

Cross had a very good all-around weekend, showing good arm strength from a couple positions as well as taking a very good round of BP with excellent hands and liners to all fields. He also got on the mound and worked up to 82 mph with good sink and a solid curveball.

Aidan Pridgen  2B - 2020 - Laurens, SC
University of South Carolina-Lancaster

Pridgen showed off a solid combination of athleticism and hitting tools this weekend, first by clocking a 6.84 second 60 yard dash time, then showing off good bat speed and consistent leverage at the plate, working to all fields and showing some raw pop to the pull side.

Tyson Bass  3B - 2020 - Lucama, NC
Uncommitted

Bass had a good all-around weekend, first taking a very smooth infield round with good footwork and hands through the ball, then showing very good hitting tools with easy feel for the barrel and good hands, projecting well for power as he continues to mature.


2021 Top Prospects

Payton Green  SS - 2021 - Cary, NC
Georgia Tech

Green was outstanding in this event, running a 6.94 second 60 yard dash before taking an exemplary round of BP, showing extreme bat speed and barrel whip through the zone, really driving the baseball consistently, then getting on the mound and showing an easy arm up to 86 mph with lots of strikes and a good slider as well.

Jacob Cozart  C - 2021 - High Point, NC
North Carolina State

Cozart has been known as an excellent defensive catcher for awhile now, with very good athleticism, lateral agility, explosiveness, and receiving skills to go along with good arm strength. He showed all of that this weekend in addition to some raw power from the left side of the plate as well as some potential utility on the mound.

Antwan Walton  RHP - 2021 - Emporia, VA
Old Dominion

Walton is all about projection, with a very lean, long-limbed frame that has a prodigious physical ceiling, showing off very good arm speed with a fastball up to 84 mph right now and an easy right arm, giving him pretty significant upside on the mound as he continues to develop and mature.

Ryan McCrystal  C - 2021 - Fuquay Varina, NC
East Carolina

McCrystal had a good all-around weekend, as the primary catcher showed quick actions with a strong arm behind the plate to go along with interesting hitting tools, and then got on the mound and ran his fastball up to 86 mph with a very fast arm and flashes of good life to the pitch as well.


2022 Top Prospects

Andrew Siegner  RHP - 2022 - Burlington, NC
Campbell

Siegner stood out in this event as a rising freshman, especially on the mound, where he ran his fastball up to 81 mph and threw a lot of strikes to both sides of the plate with the pitch, combining command and life to make it a very good offering. He also has very good present feel for his breaking ball, and on the whole has excellent upside on the mound.
