4-Purple v. 5-White Game Highlights

8/30/2020

Jancarlos Frias (2023 2B, Bronx, NY) continued to swing a hot bat, doubling to left-centerfield. Frias uses a simple approach at the plate with good pitch recognition and quick hands. 

Nick Sturino (2021 SS, New Milford, CT) showed intriguing two-way potential, running his fastball up to 83 mph in relief from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Also went 2-for-2 in the game with a single and double. Sturino is a well-proportioned primary shortstop with a solid overall skill set. 

Jason Rodriguez (2023 C, White Plains, NY) showed intriguing power potential, launching a two-run homer to deep left field. Rodriguez is a high energy athlete with sound fundamentals and interesting upside. 

Brandon Iocco (2023 OF, East Elmhurst, NY) showed the ability to turn the barrel, squaring up a pitch that went for a double. Iocco uses a fairly simple operation with good hand-eye coordination and high contact rate. 

Nicholas Ungania (2022 OF, Mineola, NY) showed off his quick twitch athleticism and ability to impact the baseball well in game action. Used a short, direct path and quick hands to sting a triple into the gap in game action. 

 


1-Green vs. 3-Orange Game Highlights

8/30/2020

Frank Santeramo (2021 RHP, Garden  City, NY) was impressive during his time on the mound for the Orange team, running his fastball up to 84 mph with a quick right arm. He also threw a sharp slider up to 75 mph which he maintained well on at release.

 

Brady Steinert (2022 SS, Dix Hills, NY) had a nice day at the yard on both sides of the ball. A primary shortstop, Steinert showed loose actions and quick footwork on a charge play before later coming to the plate and sending a hard line drive single back up the box, quickly stealing second base.

 

Dawson Montesa (2023 SS, Glendale, NY) struck out five in his two innings of work, topping out at 78 mph while creating sinking life down in the zone. His arm action is loose and he filled up the zone, mixing a mid-60s curveball for strikes consistently.

 

Michael Vilardi (2023 RHP, Massapequa, NY) continues to swing it well in live action for the Green team, sending a hard line drive single back up the middle to score a run in the final frame of the game.

 

George (Jake) Iacobaccio (2024 OF, Albany, NY) cruised through his three innings of work, consistently working ahead in the count while filling the zone. His fastball offered natural cutting life to it and he spun his breaking ball well, landing it in the low-60s.


3-Orange v. 5-White Game Highlights

8/30/2020

Brian Regalado (2021 C, Ozone Park, NY) showed off an impressive hit tool, going 2-for-2 with a double and single. The right-handed hitting catcher uses a fairly simple operation with advanced barrel accuracy and strong hands to drive the ball to all fields. 

Dan Labrozzi (2022 SS, Sag Harbor, NY) continued an impressive day, scorching a double over an out-stretched outfielders head. Labrozzi stays simple in the box with quickness to his path and consistent bat-to-ball skills. 

Connor Sackett (2022 C, Fairport, NY) is a primary catcher with a solid catch-and-throw skill set. He showed off his ability to turn the barrel, singling in his first at-bat and launching a triple to left-center field in his second AB. 

Anselmo Joya (2021 OF, Central Islip, NY) continued to show off his physical presence, lifting a well-impacted triple to deep left-center field. The primary outfielder showed well defensively and took a strong round of BP. 


1-Green vs. 2-Navy Game Highlights

8/30/2020

Carson Davis (2023 SS, New York, NY) and Kyle Dobrie (2021 OF, Mastic, NY) got the offense started for the Navy team, picking up back-to-back doubles to the right-center field gap. Davis, a righthanded hitter, lined a pitch over the second baseman’s head before Dobrie, a lefty, got the barrel out and showed looseness on a swing that drove a pitch off the fence to plate a run. Dobrie had a two-hit day.

 

Mikey Rodriguez (2022 OF, Pelham, NY) continued to have a nice showcase, going down to get a fastball drove it loudly to the left-center field gap for a hard line drive double that jumped off the bat. He finished the day going 2-for-3 after picking up an infield single in his last at-bat.

 

Jeremy Ramirez (2022 RHP, New York, NY) struck out five during his three innings on the mound without allowing a hit, topping out at 79 mph with his fastball while showing comfort landing his curveball for strikes.

 

Michael Vilardi (2023 RHP, Massapequa, NY) picked up the first hit of the day for Green with a hard line drive double of his own, barreling a fastball into the left-center field gap to plate a run.

 

James Garcia (2023 SS, New York, NY) kept the offense going for the Navy team, pulling his hands in on an inner half fastball to turn on it down the line for a triple, scoring another run.

 

A switch-hitting catcher, Richard Kershow (2022 C, Eatons Neck, NY) found the barrel on a breaking ball from the left side, lining the pitch down the right field line for a well struck single that hopped off the bat.

 

Chris Walsh (2021 1B, Belle Harbor, NY) showed off some strength in his lefthanded swing with a hard back spun line drive double to the pull side over the second baseman’s head to plate a run for Green.

 

Xavier Webb (2023 3B, Brooklyn, NY) enjoyed a two-hit day for the Green squad which included a double down the left field line where he pulled he barrel in well on a fastball.

 

Jake Moss (2022 RHP, Plandome, NY) came out filling the strike zone with a fastball that topped out at 88 mph, working down at the knees with nice extension out front. His curveball showed late bite to the back foot of lefthanded hitters though his slider up to 79 mph was an even better secondary pitch with hard, late life.

 

Both Yulian Batista (2022 RHP, Bronx, NY) and Dariel Osoria (2022 3B, Bronx, NY) showed off their arm strength in their short looks on the mound. Batista showed a quick arm and topped out at 86 mph while Osoria touched 84 mph and showed hard spin on his slider up to 71 mph.


3-Orange v. 4-Purple Game Highlights

Daniel King (2022 3B, Brooklyn, NY) showed a well-rounded offensive skill set in game play, shooting a well-impacted double to right-centerfield and impacting the game on the bases. The well-proportioned primary third basemen uses a simple approach with quick hands and strength through contact. 

Jancarlos Frias (2023 2B, Bronx, NY) is a compactly built middle-infielder with a smooth actions and athleticism. At the plate, Frias shows an all fields approach with advanced pitch recognition and the ability to drive the gaps. Scorched a line drive triple to right-centerfield in game action. 

Jake Sekinski (2023 RHP, Valhalla, NY) sat 75-79 mph for the duration of his three innings with command to both sides of the plate. Sekinski works from a fairly simple operation with athleticism down the slope and short, compact three-quarters arm slot. Showed ability to sequence well, striking out seven hitters along the way. 

Dan Labrozzi (2022 SS, Sag Harbor, NY) showcased the ability to impact the game offensively. The long, lanky framed switch-hitter works uses a simple approach with quickness to his hands and juice to the gaps. Stole two bases and smoked a double that short hopped the wall in game play. 

 


2-Navy v. 3-Orange Game Highlights

8/29/2020

James Garcia (2023 SS, New York, NY) showed intriguing upside on the mound, running his fastball up to 82 miles per hour and command with his full mix. Simple operation with athleticism down the slope. Works from a loose three-quarters arm slot, repeating well and pounding the strike zone. Pitched off his fastball, flashing the ability to land both his slider and knuckleball for strikes. Struck out three hitters during his two innings. 

Yulian Batista (2022 RHP, Bronx, NY) continued to show his present strength, lining a hard single in game action. Batista incorporates his large frame well, creating plenty of leverage out in front and a line drive barrel plane. 

Kyle Dobrie (2021 OF, Mastic, NY) showed good pitch recognition and advanced bat-to-ball skills during his at-bats in game play. The quick twitch primary outfielder sat back well, lining an single to left field that drove in a run. 

Joshua Martinez (2023 C, Bronx, NY) showed an aggressive at approach at the plate, using his quick hands to impact a line drive to left field in game action. Martinez uses a simple setup with minimal waisted movement to make consistent contact with a line drive barrel plane.

 


4-Purple vs. 5-White Game Highlights

Elias Conway (2023 LHP, East Nassau, NY) is a young uncommitted lefthander who shows impressive stuff on the mound, topping out at 84 mph with plenty more in the tank. The fastball offers heavy life down in the zone and he generates the velocity without much effort.

 

An uncommitted shortstop out of Connecticut, Nick Sturino (2021 SS, New Milford, CT) continued to show well on the opening day with a long home run that clanked off the top of the score board. His lefthanded swing shows whip to the barrel and plenty of hand quickness, turning around an inside fastball for a no doubter.

 

Jason Rodriguez (2023 C, White Plains, NY) did the catching for Purple where he showed nice catch and throw skills, but also put his offensive potential on display. On a fastball up in the zone the young righthanded bat turned on the pitch for a loud line drive double down the left field line.

 

Jancarlos Frias (2023 2B, Bronx, NY) put his defensive actions on display with a smooth play up the middle, showing fluid footwork to round the ball and work through it comfortably to complete the play.

 

A primary righthanded pitcher, Jack Castillo (2023 RHP, Massapequa, NY) jumped on a hanging curveball in his first at-bat and barreled the pitch which got to the wall in left center field for a standup double.

 

Ayden Collazo (2021 RHP, Yonkers, NY), a primary righthander on Purple, followed Castillo’s lead in the bottom half of the next inning with a loud double to the left center field gap of his own, creating loud contact off the barrel. Once on the mound, Collazo showed off his arm strength with a short and quick arm action, touching as high as 84 mph with his best fastball.

 

Noah Sanabia (2022 MIF, Bronx, NY) connected for a double of his own, a liner that skipped up and over the left fielder’s head to plate a run. There’s strength in his swing and the ball jumped coming off.

 

Matthew Kue (2021 RHP, New York City, NY) worked a fastball to both sides of the plate that topped out at 81 mph with short life. He showed a nice feel for his curveball, adding and subtracting on the velocity while manipulating the shape of the pitch with intent.

 

Anselmo Joya (2021 OF, Central Islip, NY) continued to show the strength in his righthanded swing like he put on display in BP, connecting for a no-doubt two-run shot that cleared the LF fence with ease.

 

Christian Sikiric (2022 RHP, New Hyde Park, NY) showed off his arm strength, showing quickness to it on the mound with a top fastball of 83 mph. He was able to create some sink when on top and get ground ball contact and also fielded his position well.

 

Nicky Vendola (2023 SS, White Plains, NY) had an excellent day at the yard for the White team, twice picking up base knocks, though it was his defense where he truly impressed. A primary shortstop, Vendola consistently worked behind the ball, showing range and quick footwork which helped make the difficult play look routine.

Mikey Rodriguez (2022 OF, Pelham, NY) continued to impress with his quick twitch athleticism and fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Took a solid BP round while showing smooth, fluid actions during the defensive workout. Showed the propensity to find the barrel in game action with a well-struck line drive to left field. 

Ronny Taveras (2021 2B, Bronx, NY) showed off his ability to turn the barrel, lining a hard line drive to right center field for a stand up double. Showed well defensively with smooth, fluid actions during the defensive workout. 

Jayden Asencio (2022 C, Central Islip, NY) showed a patient approach at the plate, working the count and staying in his at-bats. 1-for-1 in game action with a well-struck single down the first base line, scoring two runs. 

Aidan Cohall (2022 2B, Cortlandt Manor, NY) showed off intriguing two-way potential, running his fastball up to 82 mph and flashing a sharp biting slider for swings-and-misses. Impressed in batting practice with slightly lofted stroke, present bat speed and whip to his barrel.

Batting Practice Highlights

Bruno Spadafora (2021 RHP, Pound Ridge, NY) used his strength well to generate bat speed through the zone, generating lift to his path while showing strength in his hands and carry off the barrel.

 

Mike Maggio (2022 SS, Farmingdale, NY) repeats his swing well, shows fluidity to his hands with looseness to the barrel through the zone. He creates some whip to the barrel and is able to generating some present carry off the barrel.

 

Jared Cohen (2022 SS, Armonk, NY) has strength in his hands and does a nice job of generating extension out front, showing a handle for the barrel with quickness to his hands and carry to the pull side.

 

A primary pitched, Tim Wozny (2022 RHP, Rocky Point, NY) swings with intent working on a mostly linear plane, staying quick through the zone while showing nice jump off the barrel to the middle of the field.

 

Aidan Cohall (2022 2B, Cortlandt Manor, NY) has an intriguing lefthanded swing that offers present quickness and long-term projection. His hands are fast and there’s lift to his swing showing real whip to the barrel and carry coming off.

 

James Garcia (2023 SS, New York, NY) put his strength on display with a home run during his round to his pull side. He creates lift to his swing and shows looseness to his hands with carry off the barrel when squared.

 

Jesiah Carpenter (2023 MIF, Brooklyn, NY) did a nice job of staying shorter to the ball, showing plenty of quickness to his hands with a solid feel for the barrel. He hit a home run during his round on a line to his pull side, consistently finding the barrel thanks to his quick hands.

 

Brady Steinert (2022 SS, Dix Hills, NY) starts with a spread stance in the box and does a nice job of staying shorter through the zone with his swing. There’s lift to his path and he swings with intent, showing carry to all parts of the field.

 

Nick Sturino (2021 SS, New Milford, CT) has a stronger frame and shows quickness to his hands and looseness to his wrists. He works the ball around to all fields, repeating his swing while showing carry coming off the barrel.

Nicholas Ungania (2022 OF, Mineola, NY) took one of the louder rounds of batting practice, consistently finding the barrel while creating torque through his lower half. He creates nice present bat speed with separation to his swing with nice carry off to his pull side.

 

Dylan Drazka (2024 LHP, Rye Brook, NY) is listed as a primary lefthanded pitcher and he’s one of the younger players in attendance but he took a nice round of batting practice. He projects well with added strength, hitting the ball out front with extension while showing looseness to his hands and a feel for the barrel.
