Game Highlights White vs Columbia Blue

8/16/2020

Chase Sowell (2022 OF, Humble, TX) doubled hard down the line in left field in his first at bat but was called out at second after over sliding the bag. Long and rangy athlete that is still growing into his body but there is a lot to like. Added a single to centerfield in his second at-bat and a hard hit single down the line in left as well in his third before drawing a walk in his final turn at the plate, as well as making a fully laid out catch in centerfield to save a pair of runs.

Reid Broussard (2022 OF, Denham Springs, LA) collected a pair of hard lined singles to centerfield in his first two at-bats of the day with two RBI and two stolen bases. In his third at-bat he added another RBI single to left field and a walk in his final at-bat, consistently finds the barrel for hard contact with a short and crisp line-drive swing path.

Weston Duncan (2022 C, Bartonville, TX) doubled deep to left field with a RBI in his first at-bat showing pull side power and the ability to backspin the ball to the pull side of the field.

Troy Johnson (2021 SS, Corpus Christi, TX) crushed a double that one-hopped the wall in left in his second at-bat of the day. He shows big pop to the pull side of the field and the ability to create leverage at contact.

Tyler Hittle (2021 OF, Tyler, TX) collected a pair of singles in his first three at-bats with a pull side approach at the plate that looks to create extension out front.

Robert Bonilla (2021 RHP, El Paso, TX) worked three innngs on the mound with a fastball that sat between 86-89 mph, stayed around the plate and forced contact by attacking the zone early, worked fast. Had feel for developing curveball that shows potential.

Ashton Lozano (2022 SS, Santa Fe, TX) hammered a double into the gap in left-centerfield in his final at-bat of the day to complete a perfect day at the plate. Two-for-two with a single, double, and a pair of walks with two runs scored. Shows some pop in the bat to the pull side of the field and the ball jumped when centered in the barrel.

Game Highlights Orange vs Royal

8/16/2020

Davis Luikart (2021 RHP, Austin, TX) worked comfortably with a longer takeaway from a full 3/4-slot and slight crossfire delivery with a fastball that sat 87-89 early with riding life. He worked two and two-thirds innings on the mound and struck out seven, allowing just one run.

Robert (Chase) Shores (2022 RHP, Midland, TX) has added weight to the frame but still has room to fill out even more. His arm action is still clean and easy from a high 3/4-slot with downhill plane with an occasional drop in the slot in leverage counts. Shores fastball worked up to 90-mph with easy effort and showed the makings of two quality secondary offerings.

Grayson Murry (2022 RHP, Flint, TX) collected a pair of hits in his first two at-bats with a line drive single in his first at-bat and double to left-centerfield in his second at-bat of the day. There is looseness in his swing and he creates leverage out front with longer limbs and a fluid swing.

Marshall Lipsey (2022 OF, Longview, TX) collected a pair of singles in his first two at-bats, scoring two runs and tallying a RBI. Then doubled to the gap in right-centerfield in his final at-bat for a 3-for-3 day at the plate. The slender framed Lipsey has room to fill out more and displays a fluid swing with slight lift in his bat path and will use the whole field at the plate.

Tregan Hyder (2021 2B, Houston, TX) turned in a two-for-three day at the plate with a pair of singles, a walk, a stolen base and a RBI. He shows strength in his swing and the ability to move the ball to all fields on a line.

Jackson Young (2021 C, Stillwater, OK) collected a pair of singles to centerfield in three at-bats on the day and added a walk, middle-of-the-field approach at the plate with the ability to turn on balls on leverage counts, solid frame and build for a catcher.

Grant Hodge (2022 RHP, Little Rock, AR) turned in a one-for-three day at the plate with an automatic double that bounced over the wall in left field for a pair of RBI, also added a stolen base on the day.

Game Highlights Royal vs White

8/15/2020

Tregan Hyder (2021 SS, Houston, TX) crushed a no-doubt homerun to left field in his second at-bat of the day to lead off the fourth inning for the the Royal team. He has strength in a compact swing with pull side power.

Addison Smith (2023 SS, Liberty, MO) moves well on the field and has plenty of athleticism in a projectable frame, also lined a double down the left field line as part of a 1-for-2 day at the plate.

Christian Okerholm (2021 RHP, Austin, TX) showed riding life in the zone and worked fast from a high 3/4-slot and gets down the slope well. Pitched three innings and faced the minimum while striking out five without allowing a hit, fastball was up to 91-mph with easy effort.

Clay Westbrook (2021 RHP, Spring, TX) drove in three runs on a pair of singles in his first two at-bats of the day with a fluid line drive planed swing with slight natural lift.

Gabriel Gruenewald (2021 OF, Houston, TX) turned in a two-for-three day at the plate including a pair of lined singles to left field with a pull-side oriented approach at the plate.

Tynan Gunn (2022 1B, Cedar Park, TX) displays present strength and size, has solid bat speed that compliments his pull-side power approach, doubled as part of a one-for-two day at the plate and also worked an inning on the mound without allowing a hit, while filling the strike zone.

Batting Practice Highlights

8/15/2020

Cole Bedwell (2022 3B, Southlake, TX) has a simple stroke with quiet hands and a low leg kick trigger that creates good leverage in his swing. There's also good raw strength to his profile that allows him to drive the ball to all fields.

Jack Jouett (2022 RHP, San Antonio, TX) is a physical right-handed pitcher but looks right at home in the box with an under control toe tap and quick hands that work down through the zone.

Logan Baker (2021 SS, Austin, TX) uses a simple stride trigger and showcases a ton of controlled violence in his swing. Plus raw pop to his pull side with a flat barrel plane through the zone.

Kevin Duran (2021 SS, Cleburne, TX) creates good whip to his barrel with a slight hand coil as he loads. He uses a tiny bat wag timing mechanism to help him start his trigger on time.

Chase Sowell (2022 OF, Humble, TX) is a large built outfielder with present athleticism. He creates easy bat speed through the zone and finds good extension. Has the ability to drive the ball the other way with plus pop.

Grant Fahrlander (2022 C, Bee Cave, TX) has a very quiet stroke with a pronated back foot to start. Plenty of athleticism, pre-coils his hands as he loads and explodes through the zone with hands that hunt the inner half.

Nolan Self (2021 C, Sikeston, MO) wraps the barrel a bit back into his load and looks to drive the ball with every hack he takes. Good juice to both gaps with a higher finish through the zone. Only a slightly elevated plane despite the higher finish.

Grayson Murry (2022 RHP, Flint, TX) is a long and lengthy right-handed pitcher that also shows promise as a two-way player with plus pop to his pull side gap. He does a nice job of sinking into his lower half to go and get pitches down in the zone.

Syr Baron Bailey (2022 OF, Pearland, TX) has a slightly elevated barrel plane through the zone but flashed plus barrel control with a simple overall approach. Works the middle of the field and put together a strong round of hard contact.

Dalton Balma (2021 C, The Colony, TX) is an athletic backstop with great hands that look to spray the ball to both lines. He shows control with his mid-leg kick trigger and will mature into a competitive all around hitter.

Jayden Duplantier (2022 SS, Houston, TX) has a narrow and upright stance with a low hanging leg kick trigger and uses the middle of the field well. He does a great job of staying tall on his backside throughout his stroke.

Cole Johnson (2023 1B, The Hills, TX) possesses present strength with great pop and he has even more power to unlock in his lower half. His larger frame creates good leverage with his linear weight shift in the box.

Luca Dipaolo (2022 C, La Canada, CA) starts slightly backloaded in his stance with a higher handset, then unloads his hands through the zone with ferocity. He has a great feel for his barrel and has the potential to be a solid hitting prospect one day.

Dondreone Kennedy (2023 SS, Fort Worth, TX) has some of the most intriguing raw hitting tools at the event. Fantastic fluidity with present pop that surprises especially from his medium frame. It's impressive how much tension he creates between his upper and lower half while still possessing a smooth and fluid stroke.

Carter Wright (2021 C, Blairsville, GA) put together a professional looking round with hard hit line drives to all fields. Wright creates easy bat speed through the zone with a flat barrel plane that creates good back spin up the middle of the field.

Game Highlights Columbia Blue vs Orange

8/15/2020

Kevin Duran (2021 SS, Cleburne, TX) plays with energy and plenty of strength for his size, high effort at the plate and easy actions in the field, 1-for-4 on the day with a deep double to right-centerfield.

Caleb Hoover (2024 RHP, Heath, TX) is physically well built with room to fill out, went 1-for-4 at the plate with a two RBI-single to left field and also worked three innings on the mound without allowing a run or hit, and struck out two. His fastball reached 87 mph with minimal effort and showed feel for a change and an 11-to-5 shaped curveball that he landed consistently.

Troy Johnson (2021 SS, Corpus Christi, TX) absolutely crushed a RBI-double off the left-centerfield wall in his second at-bat showing present bat speed and the ability to move the ball in the barrel. Also scored a run, as part of a 1-for-2 day at the plate.

Robert (Chase) Shores (2022 RHP, Midland, TX) laced a line-drive double to left-centerfield and shows added strength over the last year that has firmed up his game both offensively and defensively.

Magnus Miller (2021 RHP, Corpus Christi, TX) has a power pitchers approach and is aggressive with his fastball that was up to 88-mph, punched out five in two innings and also has an 11-to-5 curveball that has tight spin and depth.

Michael Saumell (2021 C, Spring, TX) showed an aggressive pull-side approach at the plate, he doubled and scored a pair of runs in a one-for-three day at the plate. The present power is raw, but there is plenty to work with.

Weston Duncan (2022 C, Bartonville, TX) found the barrel for hard contact a pair of times to the pull side of the field with a two RBI-double and a hard lined single, both to left field.

Grayson Murry (2022 RHP, Flint, TX) worked three innings on the mound with a fastball that reached 86-mph. The loose and easy delivery with simple operation shows more upside, especially with his feel for landing his secondary offerings. Murry punched out four hitters without surrendering a run or hit.
