Frank Knowles (2029 OF, Johns Creek, GA) found himself a double that got caught in the jetstream moving out to RCF in the middle innings of this one. Simple, controlled operation in the box without unnecessary movements in the swing. Also got on the mound and flashed a fastball only diet, running it up to 80-mph with two strikeouts in his one inning of work. Quick shoulder, athletic.

Grayson Ikard (2029 SS, Winchester, TN) turned around on one and laced it into the right-center gap, wheeling around for a triple. Compact left-handed swing, got on time and on plane with this fastball and did some damage. Swing projects with additional strength moving forward.

Bryson Turner (2030 SS, Mantachie, MS) golfed one down below the knees over the 6 hole's head for a single. Solid barrel control, stayed on this one and got the barrel to it nicely with a strong finish through contact.

Daniel Brett (2028 3B, Lawrenceville, GA) picked up two hits in this contest, one being an infield single that he hustled out and the other a low liner back up the box into center for another single. One of the most physical builds at the event with present strength, corner projection with power to come. Worked one inning on the mound too, clean frame with the fastball reaching 73-mph.

Elliott Hamby (2029 SS, Cumming, GA) got the hands upstairs and delivered the barrel to fastball above the letters, dropping it into right field for a single.

Evan Boatwright (2030 3B, Belmont, NC) stayed behind a fastball and shot it the other way for a knock. Good piece of hitting letting it travel and going with it.

Drew Beerman (2030 OF, Chapin, SC) collected one of the harder barrels of the day, working the left-center gap for a long triple. Creates separation in the swing with a deeper hand load, engages the lower half well to torque the hips and creates impact for size.

Reed McLaughlin (2030 3B, Germantown, TN) roped a fastball over the 6 hole for a nice linedrive single. Simplistic swing with solid overall mechanis for the age, hit extremely well on the circuit last year and is continuing that trend here early on in the new year. Also got on the mound and worked 1.2 frames, getting his fastball to 68-mph and struck out three batters.

Michael Scheetz (2029 C, Canton, GA) worked two clean frames on the mound, striking out two in the process. He would work his fastball up to 64-mph and keep hitters off balance with a curveball.

Alvin Thomas III (2029 1B, Canton, MS) closed the game out in relief, running his fastball up to 73-mph and striking out a batter.

Batting Practice Blog

2/15/2025

Crew Elrod (2029 C, Chattanooga, TN)- Loudest round of the day by far, very mature look in the box with physical strength and bat speed to match. Outlier results for the class, sprayed very hard contact to the pull-side and through the gaps. Must follow bat.

Jayden Kim (2029 RHP, Suwanee, GA)- Repeatable swing that found the barrel at a good rate, some preset weight on the backside allows for an easy shift into contact with a middle of the field approach.

Daniel Brett (2028 3B, Lawrenceville, GA)- Impressive round that produced some carry to the right-center gap. Loads into a higher back elbow slot, has the bat speed to work through to contact and find the barrel often. Impact bat potential.

Frank Knowles (2029 OF, Johns Creek, GA)- Athletic outlook with some bat speed to project on, simplistic contact swing that found the barrel at a good rate. Power to project on and the hands are loose.

Alvin Thomas III (2029 1B, Canton, MS)- Filled out build with some strength to whip the barrel through the zone with intent. Found it a good bit in this round and sprayed solid contact to all fields.

Reed McLaughlin (2030 3B, Germantown, TN)- Very simplistic swing with a small weight shift and direct hand path to contact. Repeats the process well, good formula for consistent contact.

Colt Clark (2030 C, Bogart, GA)- Hitting tools to work with and projects to fill into the frame to add strength. Solid foundation, has feel for the barrel and worked the pull-side heavily in his round of batting practice.

Maroon vs. Navy Game Highlights

2/15/2025

Evan Boatwright (2030 3B, Belmont, NC) put a good swing on one in the early going of this one, driving it back up the middle for a single. He has solid bat speed and got timed up on this one, hitting it well. He also collected another hit in his second at-bat.

Reed McLaughlin (2030 3B, Germantown, TN) hit a ball well into the right-center field gap for a triple in the bottom of the 2nd inning. He went out and got a pitch on the outside corner and showed quality bat speed in the process.

Ty McKenzie II (2029 SS, Brentwood, TN) lifted a ball into the opposite field, tailing away from the right fielder for a double, plating a run. It's a simple swing with solid bat speed and foundational traits to build onto long term.

Crew Elrod (2029 C, Chattanooga, TN) dropped the barrel on one and smashed it into the tree tops for a bomb. Advanced strength and bat speed have been on display the entire day. He followed that up with another homer into the trees in his second at-bat.

Frank Knowles (2029 OF, Johns Creek, GA) has put together a quality day throughout, running a strong 60-yard dash and having a quality outfield round/BP. He followed it up with a triple that was stung into the left-center gap.

Alvin Thomas III (2029 1B, Canton, MS) came up with a good swing right after the triple, driving in a run on a well struck single back up the middle. He swings with massive intent and has shown the ability to hit the ball hard throughout the day. He followed that up with a hard hit triple down the left field line in the following at-bat. He also hit a triple in the last half inning to drive in a run.

Wyatt Vitek (2030 2B, Lucas, TX) kept one fair down the left field line for a double in the middle innings of this one. He got the barrel out front and hit it well, showing solid feel to hit.

Grayson Ikard (2029 MIF, Winchester, TN) hit a ball well into the right-center gap for a double in the later stages. He also made a good play earlier in the game at third base. Strong performance in the opening game of the showcase. He also got on the mound and ran the fastball into the upper-70s w/ cutting action.

Daniel Brett (2028 3B, Lawrenceville, GA) got a pitch to hit later in this one and smoked it back up the middle for a base hit. He had a strong round of batting practice earlier in the day and continues to swing it well here this weekend.

Clay Barran (2029 RHP, Decatur, AL) got the bat head out front on one and smoked it into the right center field gap for a triple in the last half inning. It's a smooth left-handed swing with some barrel skills that have been on display all day.
