Coastal All Region & Top Tools

COASTAL REGION (NC, SC, VA, WV) 

The first thing that stands out about the players on the Coastal Region team is that this is undoubtedly the fastest All-Region Team in the country.  There are four or five players who could legitimately have 80 grades on their running speed from the region and all have other tools to back up their speed.

Another thing that jumps out is the quality of the juniors on the team.  While the region features only one 2025 PG All-American in left-handed pitcher Carson Bolemon, there are six juniors on the All-Region team who are ranked in the top 34 in the 2027 class, with plenty more talented underclassmen just behind them. 



Three region high schools break into the Top 50 in the Perfect Game Pre-Season High School Rankings.  Charlotte Catholic at 33rd overall and Metrolina Christian Academy at 42nd represent the North Carolina schools while James Island Charter HS at 44th is the top ranked team in South Carolina.

C – Wyatt Lytle (Sr., Pro5 Academy, N.C.)

Lytle is a strong-armed catcher whose best tool is his right-handed bat.  He’s hit .383-3-34 and .326-3-27 the past two years on the PG circuit with a swing that promises more power in the future.  In addition, the North Carolina signee is extremely young for the 2026 class and could easily be a 2027, making him even more projectable.

1B – Christian Gomez (Jr., Battlefield HS, Va.)

Gomez is not a first baseman but he’s too good to leave off the All-Region Team and as a 6-2/180 left/left player, he certainly fits the profile.  Gomez is the 20th ranked player nationally in the 2027 class primarily based on his bat, has outstanding bat speed and plenty of present power.  The North Carolina commit hit .444-4-21 in 21 games on the PG circuit in 2025 and combines with fellow junior All-Region member Nick Mortiz-Toledo to form one of the most athletic and talented outfield duos in the country.

MIF – Mac Morris (Jr., Baylor HS, S.C.)

Morris is the 5th ranked shortstop nationally in the 2027 class and the 16th ranked overall prospect.  While his arm strength and overall defensive ability are his best present tools, he’s also a 6.69 runner with impressive right-handed bat speed and power potential.  The Alabama commit hit .315-5-28 as a sophomore at Baylor HS and followed up by hitting.345-1-9 with 18 walks in 27 games on the PG circuit.

MIF – Will Yow (Sr. St. Anne’s-Belfield HS, Va.)

Yow is one of the fastest risers in the 2026 draft class as a speedy and athletic 6-1/175 middle infielder with some pop in his bat.  He especially shined at the WWBA World Championships last October in front of huge crowds of scouts when he hit .462 with a home run.

3B – Taj Marchand (Sr., James Island Charter HS, S.C.)

Marchand led James Island to a SC state championship, hitting .514-12-49 at the plate while also going 6-1, 1.85 off the mound.  The right-handed hitter also hit .375-2-21 in 23 games of PG play in 2025.  The Mississippi signee is the second ranked senior in South Carolina and checks in at 117th nationally.

OF – Nico Moritz-Toledo (Jr., Battlefield HS, Va.)

Moritz-Toledo is an exceptionally fast and quick twitch player but few players with any level of speed use their speed as aggressively at the 5-11/190 left-handed hitting Virginia native.  He stole 20 bases and knocked 7 triples in 28 PG games in 2025 while hitting .500-1-22 and dominating both the WWBA Underclass and WWBA World Championships in the fall.  It was more of the same as sophomore at Battlefield HS, as Moritz-Toledo earned All-State honors after hitting .370-3-30 with 23 steals.

OF – Jacob Seamon (Jr., Metrolina Christian Academy, N.C.)

Seamon was the starting center fielder on the 2024 USA 15U National Team and has continued to develop his game and especially his power since then.  The 6-5/200 left-handed hitter hit .361-10-22 with 22 walks and 20 steals in 26 games as a sophomore at Metrolina Christian Academy and .414-1-14 in 14 games over the summer at WWBA events.  The 13th ranked player in the 2027 class and an LSU commit, Seamon is exceptionally young for his class and will play all spring and summer at 16 years old.

OF – Gunnar Alm (Sr, Polk County HS, N.C.)

Alm isn’t an especially big athlete at 6-0/175 but he has outstanding left-handed bat speed and impressive power.  He hit .491-5-23 in 2024 and .321-5-27 in 2025 in PG play and is a three-year starter at Polk Country HS with 19 home runs.  Alm is also a 6.39 runner who has posted impressive stolen base numbers both in high school and in the summer.  He’s the top ranked 2026 player in North Carolina.

LHP Carson Bolemon (Sr., Southside Christian Schools, S.C.)

Bolemon had an argument for being the most dominant high school pitcher in the country as a junior as he went 11-0, 0.00 with 135 strikeouts in 55 innings for Southside Christian Schools, including three no-hitters.  A PG All-American, Bolemon also hit .374-7-35 at the plate.  The Wake Forest commit is the fourth ranked player in the 2026 class nationally and the second ranked left-handed pitcher.

LHP  Connor Salerno (Jr., Sun Valley HS, N.C.)

The 6-4/225 Salerno virtually duplicates fellow All-Region southpaw Carson Bolemon’s 2026 rankings except in the 2027 class, where he ranks fifth overall and the second ranked left-handed pitcher.  Salerno works in the 92-94 mph range and regularly tops out at 95-96 mph to go with a low 80’s breaking ball and change up.  He struck out 41 hitters in 23 innings in 2025 PG events, including 8 in three shutout innings at the WWBA World Championships.

RHP Rhett Britt (Sr., Topsail HS, N.C.)

Britt is a mature right-hander who fits the starter’s profile precisely with his variety of pitches and ability to throw strikes.  He works in the 90-93 mph range with his fastball and uses a big breaking upper 70’s slider as his out pitch, especially against right-handed hitters.  Britt also has a solid change up.  He struck out 38 hitters in 22 PG innings in 2025 while only allowing 7 hits.  The 6-4/195 Britt is also an outstanding basketball player.

RHP Chase Kiker (Sr., Metrolina Christian Academy, N.C.)

Kiker was pretty much the best pitcher in North Carolina as a sophomore in 2024, going 11-2, 0.86 in 73 innings with 130 strikeouts and only 21 walks.  He missed time with injury last spring and only posted a 5-0, 0.85 record with 68 strikeouts in 33 innings.  Kiker has been up to 95 mph with his fastball and uses a low 80’s slider as his swing and miss pitch.  He’s also a talented hitter who has hit over .400 in both the last two high school seasons and the last two PG years.

LHP Connor Wells (Jr., Dorman HS, S.C.)

The 6-6/210 Wells has a case for being one of the most projectable young pitchers in the country, especially with still only being 16 years old.  He works in the 90-93 mph range on his fastball from a deceptive back turn delivery with a loose and easy arm action.  Wells dominated PG play in 2025, striking out 35 hitters in 17 innings while allowing only 6 hits and throwing 67% strikes.  Wells is currently ranked 34th in the 2027 class and is committed to LSU.

UT – Alex Hoffman (Sr., Charlotte Catholic HS, N.C.)

Hoffman has always been a two-way prospect, known most for his outstanding arm strength but also for his strong right-handed bat.  He’s been up to 94 mph on the mound with a curveball and change up and struck out 53 hitters in 33 innings as a junior at Charlotte Catholic.  The Virginia Tech signee has also been a three-year starter as a position player, mostly catcher and third base, and hit .386-5-18 as a junior.


Coastal Region Top Tools


Best Hitter for Average: Nico Moritz-Toledo (Jr., Battlefield HS, Va.)

Moritz-Toledo’s combination of left-handed bat speed and high motor running speed gives him a full range of offensive outcomes at the plate, most of which seem to leave him in scoring position eventually.

Best Hitter for Power: Jacob Seamon (Jr., Metrolina Christian Academy, N.C.)

Seamon’s power stands out even before you factor in his long and levered 6-5 frame and especially before factoring in that he played last spring and summer at 15 years old.  The power projection here is huge.

Best Runner: Will Yow (Sr. St. Anne’s-Belfield HS, Va.)

Yow hasn’t run the 60 at a PG event but he’s run down to 6.15 at other events and is one of the fastest players in the country.  He stole 22-22 bases as a high school junior as well.  Sterling Coaxum’s 6.04 at the 2025 PG National Showcase obviously deserves mention as well. 

Best Defensive Catcher: Jack Woda (Sr., Bishop O’Connell HS, Va.)

Woda is a highly athletic catcher who could undoubtedly be successful at any number of positions around the field with his 6.58 speed and strong throwing arm.  That athleticism gives him outstanding agility behind the plate and he already has plenty of strength on his prototypical 5-11/195 catcher’s build.  The East Carolina signee hit .359-3-23 as a junior at Bishop O’Connell HS.

Best Defensive Infielder: Bryant James (Sr., Bishop O’Connell HS, Va.)

Aside from his outstanding raw tools, which include 6.26 speed and a 94 mph throwing arm, James has true middle infield actions with soft hands and the ability to play on the move with some flair.  James gives Bishop O’Connell HS two of the top middle of the field senior defenders in the country with catcher Jack Woda.

Best Defensive Outfielder: Sterling Coaxum (Sr., P27 Academy, SC)

Coaxum’s world-class speed is a separator in the outfield and gives him as much range as any outfielder in the country, while his arm is playable.  The big question for the Clemson signee will be how his bat develops, as he has plenty of raw bat speed and pop but still struggles to make consistent contact.

Best Defensive Arm: Mac Morris (Jr., Baylor HS, S.C.)

Morris stepped up at the 2025 PG Underclass All-American Games and threw 96 mph from the infield and 101 mph from the outfield, which basically seals the deal for this category.

Best Fastball: Connor Salerno (Jr., Sun Valley HS, N.C.)

Salerno and Carson Bolemon work at about the same velocity but Salerno’s fastball seems like a more dominant primary pitch and fits his aggressive pitching style perfectly.  It might not be long before Connor Wells takes over in this category.

Best Off-Speed Stuff: Carson Bolemon (Sr., Southside Christian Schools, S.C.)

Hitter’s don’t seem to see Bolemon’s sweeping low 80’s slider at all and his change up is already an advanced pitch he can use at any time.

Best Pitchability: Carson Bolemon (Sr., Southside Christian Schools, S.C.)

Bolemon just seems to toy with hitters and the effect is the same whether he’s pitching at his small South Carolina high school, against top prospects at major PG events or while pitching for USA Baseball.  No one hits his combination of 93-95 mph fastball, sharp breaking ball, change up and advanced command.

Best Multi-Sport Athlete: Gunnar Alm (Sr, Polk County HS, N.C.)

Alm is an old-fashioned three-sport standout even though he isn’t a national prospect in football or basketball like he is in baseball.  He averaged over 17 points a game between his sophomore and junior seasons on the hardwood and was Polk County HS’s starting quarterback as well.

NORTHEAST REGION (NY, CT, MA, RI, VT, NH, ME)  The strength of the Northeast Region in 2026 is the number of high ceiling power arms, led by potential upper-90’s throwers in left-hander Brody Bumila and right-hander Bryce Hill.  The depth of quality pitching is such that two of the top pitchers in the 2028 class, right handers Gavin Chakar (Norwalk HS, Conn.) and Dylan Cunningham (Austin Prep, Mass.) didn’t have a spot on the team.  The weakness of the Region is the increasing number of players who leave to play baseball and continue their school work at Academy programs in the South.  Numerous players that fit under that umbrella would have a place on the All-Northeast Region if they weren’t in Florida or the Carolinas. It was incredible Opening Weekend across the nation with numerous upsets, tightly contested series’ and dominating sweeps. Beyond that, there were generational individual performances, lockdown pitching appearances and record-breaking runs scored as well. It feels like we have been saying this every year for the past decade, but our game is alive and well. More and more programs are getting massive returns on their investments and the fans are turning out in record numbers to see college baseball in its Golden Era. As is typical this time of year, there was very little movement within the poll, in fact, our Top 15 places in the poll remain unchanged. Mid-Atlantic All Region & Top Tools

The Mid-Atlantic Region lost its only Perfect Game All-American when catcher Andrew Costello left his Pennsylvania high school early and enrolled at Wake Forest for the spring semester.  The Region ends up being dominated by underclassmen, with seven juniors and even a pair of talented sophomores getting recognition. The story of the spring could very well be watching the young power arms in the Region come outdoors and show their talents on the mound.  Pennsylvania juniors Cole Kuhn and Trent Lutz have been getting lots of off-season attention along with New Jersey senior Alex Weingartner. 2026 College Preview Index With the D-I season opening up right around the corner, our staff came together and took a shot at who they'd pick within 7 different categories. Most are self explanatory while the "Sleeping GIant" category is in reference to a draft prospect outside of our latest Top 50 on the MLB Draft Board. SOUTHWEST REGION (AZ, NM, NV, UT, CO)  The most dominant tool in the Southwest Region for the 2026 season is undoubtedly power at the plate, as most players featured below not only have the size and bat speed to drive the ball but have put up the numbers as well.  While that isn’t exactly surprising given that virtually the entire region plays at elevation, it certainly stands out on the individual top prospects. The Region features four Perfect Game All-Americans in OF Ryan Harwood, IF Rookie Shepard and C Alain Gomez-Gudino and RHP Dylan Blomker.  The 2027 class is looking very promising as well, with four juniors gaining mention on the All-Region team below and Arizona in particular having a very talented class.  Keep an eye out especially for 2027 3B Colton Floyd (Corona Del Sol HS, Ariz.), one of the best and biggest power hitters in that class.
