Deep South Dream Team & Top Tools

Regional Previews: Florida | Georgia | Pacific

DEEP SOUTH REGION (AL, LA, MS, TN)

The Deep South Region has a nice balance of high ceiling senior prospects, including five PG All-Americans and a recently re-classified star shortstop, and an impressive junior class that placed three players on the 14-player All-Region team and just missed adding a couple of more.  The Parker Brothers lead an unusually strong group of Mississippi prospects in particular.

An impressive seven high school teams rank in the Top 50 in the Perfect Game pre-season rankings, including at least one school from each of the Region’s four states.  Catholic High School (La.) is the highest ranked team at 13th, followed by Mississippi’s Jackson Prep (20th) and two more Louisiana teams in West Monroe HS (22nd) and Barbe (24th).

C –  Will Brick (So., Christian Brothers HS, Tenn.)

Brick is the sixth ranked player in the 2027 class but is already exceptionally strong for that class along with being very old for a sophomore and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him re-classify at some point.  A two-time PG Select Festival athlete, Brick hit .330 with 35 RBI for state finalist Christian Brothers High School as a freshman while hitting .379-1-32 with 28 walks in 43 PG games.  If anything, his defense is ahead of his offense at present.

1B –   Caiden Combs (Sr., Gardendale HS, Ala.)

Combs is a mountain of a young man at 6-4/255 and is not surprisingly a two-way standout in baseball and football.  The right-handed hitter hit .410 with five home runs last spring and an additional .382-2-18 in PG play with an impressive 23:9 walk to strikeout ration.  An Auburn signee, Combs also had 15 sacks and 110 total tackles as a senior defensive end and caught 22 passes as a tight end on offense.

MIF –   Joseph Parker (Sr., Purvis HS, Miss.)

Parker hit .464-7-28 as a junior at Purvis HS but heading into the PG National Showcase was usually overshadowed by his twin brother Jacob.  His incredible offensive performance at Chase Field earned him a place at the PG All-American Showcase with his brother and sky-rocketed the left-handed hitter to the 26th overall spot in the PG 2025 national class rankings.

MIF –  Steele Hall (Sr., Hewitt-Trussville HS, Ala.)

Hall was a member of the 2026 class until last fall when re-classified up despite now being very young for the 2025 class.  A 5-11/175 right-handed hitter, Hall has an impressive combination of speed and power and is still very projectable physically.  He had an outstanding fall before he re-classified, earning Most Valuable Player honors at the 17U PG Fall Elite Championship and making the All-Tournament Team in Jupiter.  Hall joined the 2025 class rankings at 69th overall and is signed with Tennessee.  This spot belonged to Jack Ruckert (Sr., Catholic HS, La.) and especially his left-handed bat on a middle infielder until Hall re-classified.

3B –  Caleb Barnett (Sr., Mountain Brook HS, Ala.)

The 6-6/220 Barnett is the top ranked senior prospect in Alabama and ranks 24th nationally.  The right-handed hitter has huge raw power and gets to it consistently in games both in the spring and in the summer.  Despite his size, Barnett has the athleticism and especially the arm strength to stay at third base defensively.  He’s also been a top two-way player the past few years and went 7-0, 1.04 on the mound as a junior.  He is signed with Alabama.

OF –  Eric Hines (Sr., American Christian Academy, Ala.)

Hines listed 6-3/210 frame undersells just how big and strong Hines is on the baseball field.  He’s also a 6.71 runner who was a three-sport standout at American Christian Academy and hit .466-8-25 as a junior.  A PG All-American and the 57th ranked player in the 2025 class nationally, Hines is signed with Alabama.

OF –  Griffin Enis (Sr., Corinth HS, Miss.)

Enis was discovered at a small Perfect Game showcase in Mississippi in 2022, appropriate for an athlete from small-town Mississippi, and has blossomed physically over the past three years to become one of the most tooled up players in the 2025 class.  Enis’s right-handed bat has improved tremendously in the past year as well, especially with his power.  He is signed with Duke.

OF –  Jacob Parker (Sr., Purvis HS, Miss.)

Parker “looks the part” as much as any high school player in the country with a chiseled 6-4/210 build and class right field power bat/plus arm tools.  A PG All-American who is ranked 25th in the 2025 class nationally, the left-handed hitting Parker hit .442-5-35 as a junior at Purvis High School, almost identical numbers to his brother Joseph.  He is signed with Mississippi State.

RHP Connor Hamilton (Sr., Montgomery Bell Academy, Tenn.)

Hamilton jumped from throwing 85-87 mph at the 2023 PG Junior National Showcase to throwing 91-96 mph at the 2024 PG National Showcase with an increase of almost 700 rpm on his breaking ball.  At a broad shouldered 6-4/195 there’s still lots of physical projection remaining for Hamilton as well.  He is signed with Vanderbilt and is the 151st ranked player in the 2025 class nationally and fourth in Tennessee.

RHP Landon Harmon (Sr., East Union HS, Miss.)

Harmon is the second ranked right-hander in the 2025 class and the 21st overall ranked prospect.  He’s posted a 15-3, 1.07 record with 224 strikeouts in 143 innings in three years at East Union High School and pitched in the 2024 PG All-American Classic.  The 6-5/190 Harmon is signed with Mississippi State.

RHP Ma'Kale Holden (Sr., Thompson HS, Ala.)

The 6-1/215 Holden was a primary third baseman for a large part of his high school career but simply kept adding too much velocity so that switching to the mound was inevitable.  He’s been up to 97 mph at PG tournaments with a low 80s breaking ball at PG tournaments and has proven himself to be a strike thrower, landing 65% of his pitches for strikes in 15 2024 PG innings.  Holden is signed with Alabama.

LHP Bo Holloway (Jr., Nolensville HS, Tenn.)

Holloway has a profile 6-5/205 young pitcher’s build and a strong left arm that already touches 95 mph on his fastball to go with a mid-80’s slider and change up.  He was named All-State as a sophomore after going 7-2, 1.79 with 94 strikeouts in 50 innings and has been equally unhittable in PG play, striking out 39 hitters in 19 innings over the past two summers.

RHP Michael Teasley (Jr., Oak Ridge HS, Tenn.)

Teasley was a 2023 PG 14U Select Festival athlete and very young for the 2026 class but is currently ranked 36th in the class.  He has a strong 6-0/190 build and a fastball that sits in the low 90s and tops out at 94 mph for now.  Teasley’s best pitch, though, is an upper 70s curveball with near 3,000 rpm spin rates and sharp downer biting action.  He is committed to Tennessee.

UT –  Kevin Roberts Jr (Jr., Jackson Prep, Miss.)

A three-time PG Select Festival athlete, Roberts profiles best as a power hitting outfielder with 6.56 speed and big arm strength.  But he’s also been up to 94 mph off the mound with more in there if he concentrated on pitching.  The 6-5/215 Roberts hit .333-4-33 as a sophomore at Jackson Prep and went 5-1, 2.28 with 41 strikeouts in 27 on the mound.

Deep South Region Top Tools

Best Hitter for Average: Joseph Parker (Sr., Purvis HS, Miss.)

Parker’s high school performance with the bat stands out but not nearly as much as his performance at the PG National Showcase, where he literally barreled every pitch he swung at in batting practice and in games, showing big bat speed to go with his outstanding barrel skills.

Best Hitter for Power: Eric Hines (Sr., American Christian Academy, Ala.)

There is no lack of power hitters in the Deep South Region and Hines could have easily been joined in this category by Jacob Parker, for one.  But Hines exit velocities at the PG National Showcase and the All-American Classic were at the top of the class level and he hit some batting practice bombs to parts of Chase Field that big leaguers rarely find.

Best Runner: Griffin Enis (Sr., Purvis, Miss.)

Enis has run the sixty as low as 6.28 and is consistently around 6.40.

Best Defensive Catcher: Korbin Reynolds (Sr., Clarksville HS, Tenn.)

Reynolds has been one of the top defensive catchers in the country for years and that defensive ability has earned him a scholarship to Vanderbilt and a chance to contribute immediately as a collegian.  He’s very athletic and quick behind the plate, befitting an athlete who is also a standout defensive back and wide receiver on the football field.

Best Defensive Infielder: Ryan Mitchell (Sr., Houston HS, Tenn.)

Mitchell is a quick twitch athlete with good size (6-2/185) and outstanding middle infield actions and solid arm strength.  He’s the 88th ranked player in the 2025 class and the top ranked Tennessee senior.  Mitchell is signed with Georgia Tech.

Best Defensive Outfielder: Griffin Enis (Sr., Purvis, Miss.)

Enis combines his elite 6.28 speed with a 95 mph arm from the outfielder, one of the best speed/arm combinations in the country.  He’s ranked 49th overall in the 2025 class.  William Patrick (Sr., St. Frederick HS, La.) almost matches Enis in the speed/arm combination, running a 6.36 and throwing 95 mph.

Best Defensive Arm: Kevin Roberts Jr (Jr., Jackson Prep, Miss.)

Roberts was throwing 90+ mph from multiple positions along with from the mound as a 13-year old and is still only 16 years old.  He’ll be fun to watch throw this summer as he hasn’t been to a showcase since 2022.

Best Fastball: Landon Harmon (Sr., East Union HS, Miss.)

Harmon topped out at 98 mph with 2600+ spin rates at both the PG All-American Classic and at the WWBA 17U National Championships, where he also threw four no-hit innings with six strikeouts.  He’s still highly projectable physically, so there might be more velocity there as he matures physically.

Best Off-Speed Stuff: Michael Teasley (Jr., Oak Ridge HS, Tenn.)

Teasley’s upper 70s curveball, with near 3,000 rpm spin and big and sharp downer bite, is a big-time swing and miss pitch and is helped by Teasley’s riding low 90’s fastball.  He’s still developing his change up but doesn’t need the pitch now with his curveball quality.

Best Pitchability:  Bo Holloway (Jr., Nolensville HS, Tenn.)

Along with his mid-90s fastball, Holloway’s slider easily reaches the mid-80s and he’s shown an advanced feel for changing the shape from a short cutter to a bigger sweeper while throwing the pitch consistently for strikes and tons of swing and miss.  Holloway also throws a very credible mid-80’s change up for his age.

Best Multi-Sport Athlete:  Kevin Roberts Jr (Jr., Jackson Prep, Miss.)

In addition to being a two-way standout on the baseball field, Roberts is rare three-sport standout.  He is averaging a double/double on the basketball court this winter, with an impressive dunk highlight reel, and is also a high level long and triple jumper in track and field.  Eric Hines is also a three-sport standout in the more conventional baseball/football/basketball route.

Most Likely To Make a Huge Jump in the Rankings in 2026 RJ Shields (2027, Venice, Fl.) Shields took some significant strides throughout 2025, especially on the mound. The fastball reached 95 mph in recent months and he projects well with great athleticism and a sharp breaking ball. Shields is also a left-handed bat with good thump in the stick. The Mississippi State commit shot up the rankings following a loud fall and looks poised to continue to climb. -KP High speed BP swing from '27 OF Gavin Ruvalcaba (FL)... #JrNational @Florida_PG https://t.co/OwU9I0u6eY pic.twitter.com/gjYZbmCPGE — PG Showcases (@PGShowcases) June 12, 2025 Gavin Ruvalcaba (2027, Hialeah, Fl.) 16u Tourney All-American Team

Hitter of the Year: Koa Romero is the Hitter of the Year for the 16u group, as he would come to every premier event of the summer and earn All-Tournament honors (Beast of the East, 16/17u WWBA, Jupiter) in every single one. Over 82 plate appearances, Romero would pump ten homeruns with forty two RBI and sixteen walks, good for a .378 average and 1.339 OPS. The performance on volume at the best events of the year pushed Romero over the edge here, as he’d hit a pair of homeruns in Jupiter (one of them at 112 EV) as an underclassmen and collect double digit hits in BOTH WWBA events with a combined six jacks over the two tournaments. It was a summer that combined performance and winning on the biggest stages for Romero. It’s a quiet left-handed swing that packs a punch. He would reap the benefits of his performances, earning a commitment to LSU and jumping to the #74 prospect in...

They dip into Mississippi to land one of the premier arms and one that’s stood out on the circuit for quite some time. It’s a fast arm and the athleticism certainly shines working down the slope. The velocity has continued to tick up over the last calendar year and reached into the low-90s towards the end of the summer. He’s confident in his changeup and the breaking ball is...

There’s a lot of talent throughout this 2026 class, filled with the big-name stars, to talent that spreads across the nation. It’s been a lot of fun seeing these prospects grow and develop over the years, from the days of watching some of these guys at the 13/14u days at events on the circuit, to now where they are all graduating seniors in 2026. There’s been new faces who have popped along the way over the years, even in 2026, where some players who were relatively undiscovered, have come out and made a name for themselves with a statement performance. Between the familiar and the new, there’s a lot of names on this list that are going to be quite regularly talked about on the circuit, and for good reason.  Whether it’s PG All-Americans or not, there’s a lot of names with superstar potential at the next level. We’ve got 14 PG All-Americans...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 | Class of 2027 | Class of 2028 These guys might just be entering high school, but they've certainly already made a name for themselves on the national circuit, especially with their abilities on the defensive side of things.  C: Xavier Rodriguez (Logansville, GA) Rodriguez is a polished defender with real arm strength behind the dish, while showcasing the ability to impact the baseball with authority to all fields evident by thirty of his sixty-five hits going for extra-bases including seven bombs. He handles high-level pitching extremely well, commands his staff and his offensive prowess makes him a true two-way asset. 1B: Cooper Knight (Buda, TX) Knight is a smooth operator at first base with plenty of range, fluidity and agility in his footwork around the bag. Best Game I Saw: The Dream NTL 18U vs. MBA Scout Team Murphy Jupiter always brings out the best, and we got fireworks from the jump. Turner Marshall gave The Dream an outstanding 4+ innings of work on the mound, holding a lethal MBA team at bay with Chance Dixon, Derrick Carter, and Ellis Appling providing an offensive spark out of the gate for the Georgia based boys. However, it was only a matter of time before the talent on the other side got going, as MBA erased a 3-run deficit in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead led by a Parker Loew HR. The Dream then took command again in the Top of the 6th, before MBA punched right back with a huge 5-run inning in the bottom half capped off by a clutch RBI single from Matthew Kerrigan, ending a wild sequence with tons of notable performances from two very competitive rosters. Best Tournament Performance I Saw: Surely someone has already brought this...

Nebraska Cornhuskers 2025 Highlights: The Cornhuskers were a difficult team to figure in ’25 as they finished with 33 wins, played just .500 (15-15) in the Big Ten but had some big wins at various times during the season and got hot at the right time. They knocked off then #16 Vanderbilt in the second game of the year, beat #5 Oregon State 2-out-of-3 at home in late March and then got hot at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha to win the Big Ten Tournament. They beat Michigan State in a 10-inning thriller before taking care of #4 Oregon, knocking off Penn State and then shutout #13 UCLA to punch their ticket to the Chapel Hill Regional. Head coach Will Bolt has now led his alma mater to three conference titles and three NCAA Regional appearances during his six years in Lincoln. No different than when he was a player, Bolt’s teams play with passion and toughness, this was never more...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 | Class of 2027 You like athletes? You like defenders who can impact a game at any given point? Look not further than this class as it's loaded from coast-to-coast with elite defenders all over the diamond.  C: Brogan Witcher, Bakersfield, CA Our scouting staff got several strong looks at Witcher whether that was at the Summer Kickoff, Sophomore National or the Underclass All American Games where he showcased his strong overall skillset and especially his advanced ability behind the plate. His 6-foot-3,180 pound build looks like one that will fill in quite nicely and be that big and physical catcher’s frame. His arm talent is undeniable where he gets it out quick and runs it up to 79 mph on throwdowns to 2nd (1.84 pop). Besides the standout catch/throw ability, we’ve seen him frame/receive strong arms and block it well during...

BURLINGTON, IA - 2025 Perfect Game Softball Toys 4 Tots Fundraiser One Day, December 7, 2025. Kicking off the holiday season, six teams participated in this one day, 3 game guarantee tournament in the 18u Division. We would like to thank those that donated a toy, and know that they will be distributed to area underprivileged children through a local charity organization. Following are some of the top performers from the weekend. Earning Tournament MV-Pitcher was Jolee Strohmeyer (2026 Dubuque, IA), a RHP/UTIL with tournament champion Lady Expos Blue. Strohmeyer shows hitters a consistent and repeatable motion and delivery with good use of the legs in the drive phase, and a quick and aggressive arm whip. Working with a six pitch mix of fastball, change-up, rise, drop, curve and screw, Strohmeyer topped out at 60 mph, and showed good movement  as she worked her rise and curve just out...

The game was an efficiently played affair with arms dominating on both sides. Graham Schlicht was masterful for Alpha, striking out 12 hitters over 5 dominant innings.
