 Uncommitted right-hander Sammy Beir (2022, Coral Springs, Fla.) pitched well over the course his outing as he showed the ability to mix pitches, pitch backwards, and compete. The arm stroke is long and offline through the back but Beir gets it through on time with consistency as the fastball worked up to 88 mph and sat in the 84-86 mph range. The fastball worked to both sides with some short life but he used the fastball primarily to set up his offspeed pitches. The breaking ball was in the 72-74 mph range and showed good shape and he also showed confidence in the ability to pitch on the inner half with it. The changeup had solid fading action and he sold it well with his arm speed to left-handed hitters. There’s a good pitch mix along with the competitive nature that makes him a solid uncommitted prospect.





The wheels fell off late in the outing but Max Grubbs (2022, Arlington, Texas) was electric early, showing off a strong fastball and an even better breaking ball that had hard biting action and lots of break to the pitch. The arm stroke is relatively clean through the back with a projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound build. There aren’t excessive moving parts or violence to the operation while the fastball sat in the 87-89 mph range early with a lot of arm side run. The breaking ball was nasty and got a lot of ugly whiffs on the pitch in the 79-81 mph range. The stuff tapered off as the outing went on but the uncommitted arm was downright filthy for the first couple of frames.
