In a year in which baseball wasn't played around the entire country due to COVID-19, there were still plenty of standouts during the 2020 circuit. Taking precautions throughout the summer and fall, there were a number of players that stood out in a big way. We take a look back at the top performers at PG events with our annual PG Tournament All-Americans by age group, as we feature our 14U players today. Of the players who are on our first and second teams, 20 of them took part in a Perfect Game 13U or 14U Select Festival over the past two years, cementing their names as prominent prospects moving forward. 



Lou D'Alessio led all honorees with 13 all-tournament team selections, followed by Jax Phillips with 11 and both Blayke Rabens and Drew Sofield with 10. 

Niko Benestad was as consistent a performer as you can get on the tournament circuit and has been deservingly awarded Player of the Year honors because of it. Benestad played in nine tournaments over the course of the year and landed on the all-tournament team in eight of them, hitting over .360 in all of his events except one. He finishes the year at the .472 mark over the course of 53 games, including 13 doubles and two home runs to go with his 60 RBI, which is good for third-best in the entire class. He picked up two MVP honors, one of which came at the lauded WWBA Freshman World Championship where he went 12-for-21 (.571) and drove in 14 to lead his team to the title.

Nicholas Rovitti takes home Pitcher of the Year honors after striking out 62 opposing batters and allowing just 21 hits in 37 innings pitched in 2020. Rovitti appeared on the mound in eight different tournaments and was dominant at some of the most high-profile events on the circuit, striking out 44 over 25 innings combined at the 14u BCS National Championship, 14u WWBA National Championship, 14u World Series and a pair of WWBA World Championship events, including the WWBA Freshman World Championship, where he struck out 17 in eight innings while allowing just one hit and walking three.

Year in and year out when the best young talent from across the country is packed into one national-level event the arms tend to win the week. That feels especially true in today’s amateur game where velocity, pitch design and high-level training in general are being introduced earlier than ever, allowing young pitchers to develop impactful stuff at a faster rate than younger hitters can consistently catch up to it. PHILADELPHIA – When the folks at Perfect Game reached out to invite him to pitch in the 2026 PG All-Star Game for rising sophomores and juniors, Cullen Scott had one request. “You mind if I get a couple of at-bats, too?” Along with his dad, Scott traveled from the family’s home in Texas to Citizens Bank Park.
