One of the highest ranked pitchers in the class, Travis Garnett (2021, Pasadena, Md.) toed the rubber over at Kell High School in one of the afternoon starts and struggled but still showed a lot of quality components and stuff that posits a very bright future for the southpaw. At a listed 6-foot-6, 220-pounds, there’s excellent size to project upon given the length of his build, his broad shoulders, and his athleticism. The Maryland commit’s delivery has some deception to it with a very high leg lift, plus arm speed, and a low arm slot that makes the at-bat uncomfortable. The fastball worked mostly in the 87-91 mph range with excellent life, but the command of the pitch wasn’t there during this look; the four seam sat mostly 90-91 while the two-seamer was more in the upper-80s. The slider has the makings of a plus pitch as during national it was one of the better pitches in terms of TrackMan statistics along with the traditional components in its tunnel, bite, and two-plane snap. Garnett is a much better pitcher than the line he turned in on Tuesday as the stuff he possesses is still very good.
