17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1

Turning in a very strong performance over at Alpharetta Legion Field this morning was talented lefthander Trenton Shaw (2022, Desoto, TX). The former PG Select Festival member is uber-physical at a listed 6-4, 230 pounds with excellent well-proportioned strength throughout. Shaw worked his fastball heavy during the game today where he went three shutout, no-hit innings while punching out 5 hitters. Shaw has a compact arm action with a tight, elevated arm slot as he generates a fair bit of angle on the fastball. The pitch peaked at 88 mph and lived in the mid 80's throughout as he commanded the ball around the strike zone well. The breaking ball was in the mid 60's, showing some depth and shape that projects well moving forward. Shaw was very efficient and filled up the strike zone while missing bats with his fastball.
