Victor Loa, lhp, Class of 2021
Commitment: Texas State

Loa has repeatedly stood out at Perfect Game events and while he isn’t overly physical at 5-8, 165 pounds, he has consistently filled the strike zone and delivered quality outings on the national scene. As evidenced by his numbers in 2019 (23.1 innings pitched with a 1.20 ERA and 39 strikeouts), Loa does a nice job of repeating his delivery while mixing a complete arsenal, keeping hitters off balance and guessing at the plate. The fastball has already been up to 88 mph for Loa, generating short sinking action on the pitch as the ball leaves his hand cleanly and plays up in the eyes of the batter due to his ability to tunnel his secondary pitches. He shows an advanced feel for his curveball as he’s able to land the pitch for strikes to either side of the plate and can also elicit swings-and-misses off the plate while his changeup is a quality third pitch with some fading life.

Outlook for the class: The Bobcats have continued to assemble a nice 2021 class, one that’s as deep as it is talented with impact pieces all around. Loa is the fourth primary arm to commit and second lefthander, giving the class the type of arm who delivers in big spots and should only continue to improve at the next level.
