Tom Ford (2024 RHP, Lisle, IL) jumped all over a center cut fastball in his first AB, ripping a long double to center field that plated 2 runs and put Gold ahead early.
Andy Roman (2023 C, Warrenville, IL) had a loud BP and continued those swings into game play, whistling an RBI double over the head of the LF on a line, showing huge bat speed and power upside. His second at-bat ended much the same way, with a missile up the RCF gap that resulted in a triple.
Ian Van Beek (2022 RHP, Lowell, IN) absolutely hammered a triple up the right-center field gap in his first at-bat, really getting extended and able to create leverage. He followed that up with a second triple in a similar spot, giving him a huge day at the plate. He also worked up to 81 mph on the mound with a quick arm, and struck out 7 in 3 innings, many on a nasty breaker.
Tyler Wolstone (2023 RHP, Wixom, MI) consistently kept hitters off-balance during his stint on the mound, striking out 6 over 3 innings working up to 82 mph on his heavy fastball, landing his big curveball for strikes whenever he wanted.
Chris Casey (2022 OF, Frankfort, IL) took a really loud swing in the later innings, absolutely hammering a fastball on the outer third on a line over the center fielder's head for a triple. He's got serious thump when he gets his arms extended. Casey ended up with two hits on the day.
Jack LoConte (2024 LHP, Tinley Park, IL) made a standout play in right field late in the game, ranging for towards the line and going full extension for the catch. He also picked up a pair of base hits at the plate and showed good speed on the bases.
Yuhki Yamada (2023 SS, Palatine, IL) made maybe the play of the day in center field, chasing down a gap shot and making a leaping, over-the-shoulder grab to rob a triple. He really impressed during defensive workouts earlier and continued that into the game. He picked up a double late in the game as well.
Kaden Matthews (2024 OF, Valparaiso, IN) picked up an extra base knock late in this game, slapping a double down the right field line, doing a good job of staying on a fastball away and using the whole field to his advantage.
Nicholas Tinajero (2023 RHP, Bensenville, IL) had a pair of base hits in the game, showing a compact stroke with a whole field approach, staying committed to the middle of the field and showing good barrel accuracy.
Jack Kendall (2024 MIF, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI) absolutely hammered a double on a line into the left-center field gap, picking up an RBI in the process. Kendall's swing is compact and leveraged, with quality power there. He also showed good feet in the middle infield.
