Ian Van Beek is a 2022 RHP/OF with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Lowell, IN who attends Illiana Christian. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean build with plenty of room to fill throughout. ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, works from the first base side of the rubber, quickness to arm through the backside and creates deception with arm path/release, gets to an over-the-top slot and utilizes length well to generate downhill plane. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, works quickly on the mound and fills the strike zone, ball got on hitters quickly; mixed a curveball with 11-5 shape and some depth up to 70 mph while mixing a changeup at 72 mph. Moves well in the outfield, full arm action through the back and shows present arm strength and carry to the intended base. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even base and square stance in the box, stays short to the ball with a full and high finish through the point of contact, shows some present bat speed, occasionally gets off balanced in swing. Good student. Named to Great Lakes Top Prospect List.
