Cardinal vs Navy Game Highlights

8/7/2016

Deston Martin (2017 OF, Joliet, IL) led off the game with a hard double over the left fielders head.  He showed some bat speed and leverage.

Christopher Brown (2017 RHP, Skokie, IL) pitched at 83-87 MPH with a long arm action.  His arm works and he has arm speed.  He's got a big strong body and the ball comes out of his hand clean.  

Blake Mial (2017 SS, Ann Arbor, MI) swung the bat well collecting 2 hits with a triple.  He also made a great defensive play up the middle at second base robbing a base hit.  

Ryan Selig (2018 OF, Lindenhurst, IL) showed his speed by legging out two infield singles and stole 4 bases.  He collected 3 hits total on the day.  He was aggressive on the base paths and showed a quick first step.

Michael Krol-Cain (2018 C, Wheatfield, IN) showed good receiving skills and catch and throw skills behind the plate.  He consistently put the ball on the bag when making game throws. 

 


Green vs Royal Game Highlights

8/7/2016

Thaddeus Huber (2018 RHP, Kearney, NE) pitched at 80-83 MPH with some arm speed.  He has a projectable body and projectable velocity.  He located his fastball well and threw strikes.  He also showed good bat speed at the plate and barreled the ball up.

Logan King (2019 RHP, Sterling Hgts, MI) pitched at 76-79 MPH with a long lean projectable body.  He pitches with lower effort and projects well.  

Matthew Temaner (2017 2B, Gurnee, IL) swung that bat well collecting 2 hits with an RBI and a stolen base.  He also showed solid actions at 2B.

Kevin Michaelsen (2018 SS, Hampshire, IL) swung the bat well tallying 4 hits.  He stole a base and legged out 2 infield singles.  

Mason Sykes (2018 3B, Elk Grove Village, IL) swung the bat well with leverage and some bat speed.  He had 2 hits on the game with an RBI.


Gold vs Purple Game Highlights

Tyler Nemtuda (2020 LHP, Chesterton, IN) pitched at 75-78 MPH with a long arm action.  He got good sink and some run on his fastball and projects for more velocity.  He has some deception to his delivery and hides the ball well.  He threw 4 innings and allowed 2 hits with 8 strikeouts.  He also collected 2 hits at the plate with a flat path through the zone.

Thomas Neuman (2017 RHP, Fort Lauderdale, FL) pitched at 78-81 MPH and has a large projectable body.  He threw strikes and repeated his delivery.

Alex Bowden (2018 LHP, Flushing, MI) swung the bat well collecting 2 hits in the game.  He showed a quick bat and a line drive path.

Thomas Ryan (2018 C, Victor, NY) hit a hard double to the right center field gap.  He showed some strength in his swing.

Drew Koch (2018 OF, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) pitched at 78-81 MPH with his fastball with a long arm action.  He showed some arm speed and threw an 11/5 curveball for strikes.

Jared Wegner (2018 3B, Kearney, NE) pitched 78-82 MPH with his fastball with some arm speed.  He also hit a hard single to the opposite field at the plate.

Skyler Luna (2018 SS, Clarksville, TN) hit a hard line drive over the left fielders head for a triple.  He showed good balance and bat speed in his swing.

Zachary McKenna (2020 C, Crown Point, IN) collected 3 hits on the game including a line drive RBI single.  He also showed good receiving skills and blocking skills behind the plate.

William Jackson (2018 OF, Glenview, IL) pitched at 80-82 MPH with a long arm action and arm speed.  The ball comes out of his hand clean and there's more velocity to come.  


Green vs Navy Game Highlights

8/6/2016

Will Dvorak (2017 LHP, Elmhurst, IL) pitched at 80-85 MPH with a quick arm action.  His arm works and the ball comes out clean.  Dvorak got some run and sink on his fastball and showed a repeatable delivery.

Jackson Braden (2017 RHP, Adairsville, GA) pitched at 83-86 MPH with a long quick arm action.  He showed good arm speed and has some cut on his fastball.  He also made hard contact in the game showing good bat speed.  He made consistent loud barrel contact and collected 3 hits.

Nick Kosmetatos (2019 SS, Bartlett, IL) hit a hard opposite field double with some bat speed.  He had 2 hits on the game.

Dan Cryan (2017 C, Orland Park, IL) hammered a hard triple to right center field off an 86 MPH fastball from Jackson Braden.  It sounded good off the bat and he barreled it up well.  He collected 2 hits in the game.  He also pitched and topped out at 84 MPH with his fastball.  He showed a quick arm action and also threw an 11/5 curveball with some depth and shape.

Clifton Slagel (2017 RHP, Fairbury, IL) pitched at 81-84 MPH with a quick arm action.  The ball comes out clean and the velocity projects.  He throws a downer 12/6 curveball with some depth.  

Liam Poe (2018 C, Bolingbrook, IL) doubled in the game and showed some bat speed.  He also made a fantastic sliding catch on a foul pop fly behind the plate against the wall and netting.  

Michael Lopez (2019 SS, Elgin, IL) made a nice play in left field throwing a perfect strike to nail a would be runner trying to score.  


Cardinal vs Gold Game Highlights

Michael Wilson (2017 LHP, Eureka, MO) was effective for 4 innings allowing just 1 hit with 6 strikeouts.  He hides the ball well and has some deception to his delivery.  Wilson threw his slider for strikes and located well.  He pitched at 74-76 MPH touching 78 MPH.  

Ian Taylor (2017 1B, Elk Grove Village, IL) showed a good swing with bat speed and strength in his swing.  He showed good hitting tools and made hard contact including a hard double down the left field line.

Jalen Greer (2019 SS, Chicago, IL) swung the bat well on a flat path.  He showed some bat speed and looseness to his swing.  He has interesting young hitting tools.  He also showed good speed running the bases.

Skyler Luna (2018 SS, Clarksville, TN) lofted a triple over the right fielder and legged out a triple.  He showed good bat speed and kept the barrel in the zone well.

William Jackson (2018 OF, Glenview, IL) swung the bat well collecting a couple base hits.  He showed barrel skills and stayed through the ball well.

Chance Duringer (2018 RHP, Goreville, IL) pitched 4 innings allowing 2 hits and no runs.  He also swung the bat well hammering a hard double down the left field line.

Zacary Besant (2018 C, Flushing, MI) pitched at 77-81 MPH going 2 innings and allowing just 1 hit.  There's more velocity in there with adjustments.

Drew Koch (2018 OF, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) collected 2 singles and showed an aggressive approach.

Purple vs Royal Game Highlights

Alex Bowden (2018 LHP, Flushing, MI) pitched at 76-79 MPH with a long smooth arm action.  He pitched on a downhill plane with his fastball and he has some arm speed.  Bowden showed command of his curveball with some depth to it.  

Caleb Haddon (2017 LHP, Libertyville, IL) pitched at 79-81 MPH with a short arm circle.  He has sink on his fastball with occasional run.  He showed command of the strike zone and works to the edges of the plate.  

Thaddeus Huber (2018 RHP, Kearney, NE) hit a hard double down the right field line.  He has a balanced swing and showed barrel skills.  Huber made loud contact all game.

Daniel Banaitis (2017 RHP, Chatham, IL) hit a sharp double to the left field corner.  He has a large frame with present strength.  

Matthew Temaner (2017 2B, Gurnee, IL) swung the bat well with a line drive swing path.  He made consistent contact and has 2 hits in the game.

Eric Erato (2020 3B, Sussex, WI) had 2 hits in the game and made contact to the opposite field.  He also stole a base and made barrel contact.


Batting Practice Highlights

Michael Krol-Cain (2018 C, Wheatfield, IN): Showed good timing in his swing, consistently barreling the ball on a line back up the middle. 

Ian Taylor (2017 1B, Elk Grove Village, IL): Had a very strong round, homering way deep to left field, showing big time torque in his hips generating big strength at contact. 

Christopher Brown (2017 RHP, Skokie, IL): Showed off a short stroke with quick hands and solid bat speed. Can drive the ball deep and had good carry off the barrel. 

Anthony Gutierrez (2017 C, Plainfield, IL): Shifts well into contact and uses lower half well, got the barrel out consistently and did a good job squaring up the ball to all fields, including some interesting power to the pull field. 

Shaquan Bowens (2019 OF, Calumet City, IL): Had a very smooth, very quick line drive stroke with the ability to barrel the ball up on a line consistently to all fields. 

Skyler Luna (2018 SS, Clarksville, TN): Repeated his swing mechanics extremely well, highlighted by a quick line drive stroke and the ability to use the entire field. 

Zachary McKenna (2020 C, Crown Point, IN): Swings the bat with intent and lots of moving parts, a la Josh Donaldson, and was successful at driving the ball into the air with authority and lots of power projection. 

Drew Koch (2018 OF, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA): Showed consistent ability to square up the baseball on a line with authority, highlighted by solid bat speed and good leverage at contact. 

Jared Wegner (2018 3B, Kearney, NE): Took one of the better rounds of the day, driving the ball consistently with a very good combination of bat speed and strength off the barrel. 

Logan King (2019 RHP, Sterling Hgts, MI): Drove the ball cleanly on a line with some consistency, and projects well for increased power in the future. 

Andy Lopez (2017 C, Chicago, IL): Used the entire field successfully with hard line drive contact, showing off quick hands and a very direct swing path. 

Nick Stone (2017 OF, Des Plaines, IL): Made hard contact consistently, driving the ball into the air with intent and good power to the pull field. 

Tyler Wood (2017 MIF, Deerfield, IL): Showed very quick hands with innate bat to ball abilities, stayed up the middle and drove the ball on a line consistently. 

Ryan Selig (2018 OF, Lindenhurst, IL): Has very good bat speed with strength as well, had success driving the ball into the gap with good carry and bat speed. 

Liam Poe (2018 C, Bolingbrook, IL): Showed good line drive jump off the barrel to all fields, stays up the middle for the most part and has good approach. 

Alex Bowden (2018 LHP, Flushing, MI): Very quick hands with twitchy overall swing, gets the head out and drove the ball consistently with good juice to all fields. 

Eric Erato (2020 3B, Sussex, WI): Showed off a solid inside-out swing path with a line drive stroke, did a very good job controlling the barrel and consistently hitting the ball on a line.
