Ian Taylor is a 2017 1B/3B, OF with a 5-11 193 lb. frame from Elk Grove Village, IL who attends J B Conant. Medium frame with a solid, athletic build. Shows present strength throughout frame with promise for more with continued physical maturity. Ran a 6.98 sixty yard dash. Primary first baseman with sure hands and athletic footwork while working to and around the baseball. Long arm circle at separation and releases from a loose, three-quarters slot. Solid arm strength while throwing across the infield topping at 82 mph. Showed athletic actions while pivoting to throw to second and closing on slow roller. Right handed hitter with straight, balanced stance and high back elbow set. Lower half has good strength while launching to contact with rotational actions producing solid shift. Swings with intent to drive the baseball deep into the gaps with a naturally lifted swing plane. Present bat speed and strength through the zone, hit a long home run to left field during batting practice that easy cleared the fence. Flashed pop to the opposite field gap when on time and balanced to contact. Named to 2016 Great Lakes Showcase Top Prospect List.
