2023 Top Prospects

Owen Egan  OF - 2023 - Yucaipa, CA
UCLA

Egan is going to come out of this weekend as a talented two-way prospect in the 2023 class. His arm strength played well both from the outfield (82 mph) as well as on the mound (81 mph), both of which were tops at the event. His BP session also impressed as he has some intriguing raw power off the bat that warrants keeping an eye on.

Manoah Chapman  SS - 2023 - Chula Vista, CA
San Diego State

Chapman performed well all weekend with loose actions defensively and good range when moving to the baseball. He should be a middle infielder to keep eyes on as he also handled the bat well in batting practice. He creates a high amount of bat speed through the zone with mature feel for the barrel on a direct path to the ball.

Tyler Ball  RHP - 2023 - Highland, UT
Uncommitted

Ball was one of the more well-rounded players that took the field in Monterey Park. Hitting 82 miles per hour from the outfield, Ball has a good idea with his actions that should continue to improve with time. He also performed well on the mound with a long and loose arm action with simple and repeatable mechanics on his way to topping out at 80 miles per hour.

Alejandro Diaz  MIF - 2023 - Norwalk, CA
Uncommitted

Diaz took an eye-catching batting practice with feel for getting the barrel through the zone and connecting with a high amount of consistency. The primary shortstop also executed well defensively with athletic actions and a quick transfer that should bode well on the left side of the field. His 81 miles per hour across the infield was best in the event.

Michael Harrison  OF - 2023 - Fontana, CA
Uncommitted

The 6-foot, 177-pound outfielder put his strength on display, getting on top of the ball well with carry into the infield. He also took one of the better batting practice sessions of the day creating solid separation while staying loose in the hands. This translated well to the game setting as Harrison was able to consistently barrel up balls facing live pitching.

Dillon DeSpain  RHP - 2023 - Hawthorne, CA
Uncommitted

The 6-foot-1 righthander displayed some things to like on the mound throughout his innings. He projects well physically with added strength to his frame and can locate pitches with relative ease on the edges of the plate. Sitting in the mid-70's with the fastball with more to come, DeSpain generated a lot of weak contact and missed barrels during his outing with a 12-to-6 curveball as a solid secondary option.

Michai Harrison  OF - 2023 - Fontana, CA
Uncommitted

Harrison is an athletic and versatile player who performed well defensively both from the outfield as well as at first base. He is able to get the ball out quick and consistently make accurate throws. He also showed a short and compact barrel path working line drives to the middle of the field. He incorporates his strength well in his swing, making loud contact throughout the round.
